Qatar changed my flight destination to a place 7 hrs away without telling me
Before the travel ban in Australia, I had a travel agent purchase tickets using Qatar airlines. The agency I used went bankrupt a few weeks after the lockdown. Some months later without telling me, Qatar changed the destination of my flight to a city 7 hours drive from my original destination. The airline claimed I could change the date of my flight. Qatar did not offer any support or information about the course of action to take, so I had to contact Qatar's customer care line. It was difficult to hear the people I spoke to because the line wa...s so crackly and muffled. Furthermore, each time I rang, I received a different answer that conflicted with what I had been initially told. Someone told me I couldn't change the date of my flight, another person said that I would have to wait a week to see if the flight could be changed. The last person said that I would have to call my defunct travel agency to change the ticket. I asked this last person if I could upgraded to business class in light of the fact that my destination had been changed without my approval. He told me that if I didn't like my flight, I could cancel it and buy tickets for business class. Which is impossible to do given the pandemic! Next time I'm flying Qantas.
Still no refund
I have made many many calls, emails and facebook messages and I am constantly told different dates the transfer has apparently taken place and to wait but never receive the money. Requests for proof that the transaction has taken place are ignored. Customer Service team members talk over you on the phone then promise to call you back but never do. Completely amoral and disgraceful service to customers who have been patient for months now. We should all file complaints with our Consumer Affairs bodies as clearly this is a widespread issue for your customers
Impressed with Qatar customer service
In December 2019, I booked 5 tickets to travel to Europe from Australia with Qatar in September 2020. Due to COVID-19, we could not fly out in September. I requested a full refund from Qatar and received it in a timely manner. If the travel restrictions are lifted, I will be re-booking the same trip next year with Qatar.

Good experiences, can't believe some of the other reviews.
I have just received a refund today for this years holiday (all fees waived) and wondered if this site had reviews for Qatar airlines. I was so surprised to read the reviews here which I consider from my personal experiences as unrealistic expectations, particularly as they seem to relate to Covid 19 disruptions.
When looking for flights to Greece last year I found that Qatar had the best prices and connections by far, no one came close. I had never heard of them before but after doing some Googling I found they had a good reputation. I don't...follow the footy so has not heard of their name through that sport either. I was prepared to give them a go and booked my flights including an Athens to Crete extension (with Olympic). So 4 flights with Qatar with transit in Doha each direction. Check in and other terminal staff were very good at every airport, cabin crew ranged from good to super, generally closer to super and any request was met with a smile. I actually emailed Qatar on my return to compliment some staff for service beyond. I remember my flight from Athens to Doha, when cabin crew came around offering drinks I told her I was dying for a wine as I had not liked much of the Greek wines, and I would be interested in trying each on offer. She brought me all to try and gave me the run down on each like I was a special guest in a 5 star restaurant - unbelievable (I was only in economy). Keep in mind that basically all customer service staff within Qatar (country) including the airline are foreigners from all around the world and in general are professional and polite.
Poor handling of COVID refunds or lack thereof!
Spent just over $3,500 on airfares in November 2019 - filled out their 'full refund' web form on their site late February 2020 but no follow-ups or action of a refund. Early April received a 'flight credit voucher' to use and received no further communication for a refund until I contacted my credit card company to get involved. Several weeks later I receive an update but still no help or refund. It was going to be my first time flying with Qatar and I don't think I'll fly with them unless it's a free flight now. Poor handling overall and little to no customer service.
Unprofessional Treatment by Qatar Airways
If I could give a no star rating I would. I cancelled my booking for two Business Class return flights from Sydney to Europe, around A$15,000 for both, which I made via the Qatar website, which means I am entitled to a full refund. I am now into week 9 awaiting my refund. I have received the following advice - "If you have requested your refund at least 72 hours (which I well and truly have) before your scheduled flight departure, your refund will be accepted. It may take up to eight weeks to get the money back into your bank account or card de...pending on who you bank with." Wouldn't you think that they would be trying to placate business class clientele for future business???? Appalling treatment and they should be avoided at all (substantial??) cost!
Qatar sent us at last a voucher in US$ even though we had long applied for a refund with both the agency and Qatar Airways. We have no use for a voucher, nevermind in US$, as we explained in response because we were travelling for an one off event in summer which is now over.
Yet Qatar washed their hands by asking us to contact Byojet now a company we never heard of before and which of course does not respond their emails. Qatar is forcing us as such to waste again our time calling ByoJet for ever, a company we never dealt ...
If there was zero star, I would go for it!
My flight from Melbourne to Tehran supposed to have 12 hours wait in Doha. but it increased to 18 hours just one week before departure date.
All the cafes and restaurant in airport are serving just drinks, NOT FOOD. (due to Covid)
Airline didn't offer ANY food or drink for that 18 hours.
So we (2 people 70 years old) had just biscuits and coffee for 18 hours.
Airline could mention this to passengers so we could take our own food...
Never go back to this airline.
Couldn't be treated worse...
Terrible communication but they provided full refund for cancelled trip
Hi, like many we cancelled due to Covid19 but it took 48 days to get the 7 day refund! emails get ignored, phone representatives don't know anything and at one point they just closed their phone lines. To their credit however they did give me a full refund.

I was supposed to flight back from Paris to Sydney today. It wasn't possible to come from Sydney to Paris because all flight are cancelled since February. Qatar Airlines have re-validated the ticket and so i can't get a voucher. How can i flight back from France if it was legally not possible to go there from Sydney? They are taking advantage of the situation to clear themself to their responsability. They also change from 4h to 24h the stopover in Doha and it was not possible to contest.

Qatar did get us home
We are now in Quarantine at a hotel in Melbourne and I would like to provide some feedback regarding Qatar Airways.
Me and my daughter were in Cyprus and could not leave on our Qatar airlines return ticket from Melbourne to Larnaca ( Cyprus) due to the Covid19 lockdown. However we managed to get on a UK charter flight to Manchester via Doha to Melbourne recently.
We have so many people to thank at Qatar Airlines and Flight Centre our agent in Australia.
Customer service - Excellent
1. Qatar Cyprus reached out to us to assist us
2. Qatar waived all charges for changing the route completely ...3. Once UK medical at short notice approved the wheelchair and oxygen Qatar staff swung into action, we had excellent assistance from Check in to boarding and then disembarking. We were told many times that they will take care of the medical needs by the cabin crew who checked on us frequently during the flight 4. At Doha, we were picked up and transported to the different gates effortlessly and efficiently and were allowed to stop to get some sandwiches We have nothing but the utmost praise for the cabin crew Safety due to virus As a microbiologist and chemical engineer, I felt safe during the flight. From your safety videos to cleaning the toilets frequently and wearing the appropriate safety gear, Qatar staff kept us safe during the flight. It can't be easy on the cabin crew as they are exposed to passengers all the time so they are like frontline healthcare professionals. My deep respect for the cabin crews. Qatar - We will get you home (catch cry at the moment) Thank you Qatar for getting us home. Whilst most major airlines abandoned us, you kept flying. You upgraded your safety levels to manage the virus and you kept flying. You are the only major airline that kept flying to Australia. You deserve an award for this. Joe
Rip off refund
Asked me if I’d like a refund said yes charged me$1221 more than should of cost and basically said tough. Vouchers are a scam can’t use online and when you call charge you $1400 dollars more than online

I feel Qatar airways took advantage of the situation and its price was extremely unreasonable.
I have never had a issue with its service until now.
Due to this I will no longer fly Qatar airways as i felt in the current situation it lacked empathy for people and knew customers needed to get home and have no other opution!!!
Never in the history of the aircraft has a one way economy ticket costed so high.
Disappointed customer Taha Ghieh
Different airline in the air and different on the ground.
From the rude short Large bob hair ‘blond’ manager at Sydney airport with over self importance to the dry faces at check -in to the call centre and support staff this airline is third world on the ground. As soon as you step into the plane it’s a different story and is bliss. What a crazy experience. They have no idea. Do fly Emirates for an all round consistent service.
I could not travel due to a government restriction banning people who had been to Iran from coming back so I cancelled and asked for a refund. After 7 weeks, no refund and they then spring a $770 cancellation fee on me as well. I will never fly with this thieving pack of so-and-so’s

I had flights booked with QA to Australia, I then had to change the dates to November due to COVID-19. I tried numerous times to do this over the phone but would be on hold for hours on end and the line would then cut off. I was forced to make the change online as it was getting closer to the departure date, and was charged 443 pounds to do so. I made a complaint to QA to try and get this back but was told that because I did not make the change online that I was not entitled to a refund. What an absolute joke.
I would like to say to any QA re...p monitoring these reviews that, we will not forget how badly you have treated us during this pandemic. After all this COVID-19 blows over, I will still remember you are a terrible airline to deal with and I certainly will never fly with you ever again, and you can forget about being recommended to anyone.
Transit Nightmare Experience 1st April 2020
Dear Transit Passengers please keep in mind that you will not be able to enjoy any facilities while transiting in Hamad International. Our TODAY's experience of 21 hours of transit in Doha airport is a nightmare. They keep us at the Gate where we disembarked. They keep us as animals, we are ok as they checked our temperature on arrival but despite our long transit they don't care. We all have to stay at the same Gate for the duration of our ENTIRE transit!!! Be warned regarding transit conditions as they don't have any information on their official website. We will never fly with Qatar! Never ever again!

Unhelpful and unfeeling in covid19 crisis
We booked a holiday to Finland and Norway with a tour company. On Day 2 of our 19 day holiday the whole trip was cancelled due to the unfolding Covid 19 worldwide crisis. We were stranded in Helsinki. The airline we had been booked onto was Qatar Airways. From Helsinki there is no way of contacting Qatar airways. I had to send a message back to Australia asking my daughter to help us. This was on March Friday 13. Qatar said they can’t change the flights, the travel company must do it. The travel company said they cannot change the return flight...s because the flights had already been Half used ! By now it was after 5pm in a Friday afternoon. My daughters only option available to her was to phone Qatar Airways in Qatar. It ended up costing her over $300 in mobile phone charges. Qatar did finally change our flights but at a huge fee of $812.72. We were relieved to get flights out of Helsinki but devastated that Qatar were not compassionate enough to just change bookings free of charge at this time of crisis. Other travellers in our group were travelling on EMIRATES. Kudos to EMIRATES for speedily and freely getting their clients flights out of Finland at no charge because of this extraordinary crisis. A truely compassionate airline. I will remember this and will let everyone I’m in contact with know about our terrible experience during a crisis with Qatar Airways
Changing Flights Due To Covid-19
Qatar will change your flights 1 year from Ticket Issue date. Seriously, do Australians want to travel to the northern hemisphere in their cooler months? So you book & pay for your flight several months in advance for your European holiday and then covid-19 happens. Who is going to want to fly to Europe in cooler months. There should be an 18 month leeway for Australians travelling north to cover at least 12 months from their actual travel date not from ticket issue date.
Side note, if you booked your trip via an online agency you have to ...go through that agency to change your booking. What happens if that agency is in liquidation now? Qatar don't want to know you & advise to go through the liquidator. But the liquidator only handles people who have lost money, not those who have a valid ticket. They take, take your money in a blink of an eye but don't want to give you any credit for the current situations.

Why did Qatar feel the need to subject women to rape disguised as a medical procedure after a baby was found at Doha airport? Why does Qatar airport deem sexual assault of its customers acceptable?
