I am WARNING you now do not get insurance with this company. If you are using an underwriter ask which company you will be getting insurance with and also ask about all endorsements and what is covered. This was my first time getting renter’s insurance and I was very uninformed which is why when it came to my claim the process was lengthy, draining and ended in many tears. I was issued a Renters Insurance Policy in Dec. of 2019 with what I thought to be “Resident Shield” but they are really the underwriters for multiple companies. So, in realit...y my insurance is with QBE. QBE has proven to be the worst company I’ve dealt with in my life. From lack of communication, not responding to messages or calls, tense and problematic conversations and with people in my opinion you would somewhat expect empathy from during such times. They will only only call you back after they have concluded everything on their own and gone forward with their findings ( yet any questions or concerns will not be answered in the meantime because they don’t want to talk to you). My apartment was flooded on April 3 in which my claim was later denied due to “dirty water/sewage water” or back up yet if it was clean water it wouldn’t be covered as well because as we all know in Texas flood is not covered in insurance as well. So, what exactly is covered robbery and theft (so I don’t need insurance because I live in a safe neighborhood?). My adjuster from the beginning was very rude, nonchalant, and clearly had selective hearing as well as the supervisor Mrs. Chamberlain, getting a hold of her is one thing and speaking to her is a different story. I had issues and questions about why my claim got denied since my apartment specifically said it wasn’t back up nor our fault once they finally talked to them. My claim was also denied before they spoke to the apartment manager which leads me to believe this was her MO from the beginning. What was supposed to be a quick two weeks process has gone on for months. I accepted the denied claim but now I wanted to speak with someone regarding the the endorsement that was never mentioned and regarding my policy (since it was never sent in the mail). As many others have mentioned the managers and supervisors don’t get any better they tell you info you already know and they will repeat over and over to you with no effort to try finding a conclusion to your issue or answers to the real issues. Whenever they get back to you they speak to you they know to come come up with a generic speech and once stcick to it once on the phone, there still is no open dialogue or flow of conversation. They say what they have to say and it’s everything is done from there. My agent Shanteeka has asked me for receipts, bank statements, etc. to prove I am the owner of the items that was in the claim (which took about a week) when in reality she had no intentions of going forward nor approving my claim. Then. Why waste my time and we go back and forth for about a month. Resident shield came to the conclusion that they would check call logs and a supervisor would get back to me on three different occasions (which they didn’t) within 24 hours. So, one day I dedicated five hours of my morning trying to figure this out and finally be able to move on but yet I am still getting the run around. Both companies are giving me the run around and they clearly do not work with one another. Resident Shield claimed that it was on QBE to check the call but it’s Resident Shields call not there’s so I’m a bit confused. So, I call QBE again ad they say they can’t help me regarding those matters. So, I now call resident shield three more times (because I’ve been dropped on two calls) and all of a sudden everyone knows what I am talking about and they see the call yet can’t play it or get a supervisor on the phone so someone will call me (once again). When the supervisor finally gets on the phone after two weeks they pull the normal we will tell you “our conclusion” speech”. Which is funny because two calls ago no one knew what I was talking about or that they could check the call logs. The supervisor gets on the phone and tells me they have been heard but not by here, by claims and they said it was denied once again because they reviewed the calls and the endorsements were mentioned. I ask to hear the call then and there goes the next problem, now all of a sudden its not Resident Shield with the call anymore, it will be hard to play it out loud, and the need permission from “claims” to play me the call (regardless of me being the on on the call). If you would like to save time, money and be stress free when an awful situation happens to you then please do not go forward with this company. They will send you in circles, make you flip over backwards, find documents from years ago, contact all sorts of companies before processing a claim or even answering a question. There’s much more to say but it is useless.
Run away from this business
i have been with QBE/ANZ for my landlord insurance for more than 3 years. I tried to claim my floor as it was damaged due to leakage. I was rejected in for my first time as they told me no leakage identified and the damage was caused by wrong floor installation. My builder came to fix the floor and saw it all water underneath once the floor was opened.
I tried my second claim as it was all water and i had picture to support my statements this time. QBE sent people (might be the same one who claimed no leakage) to check my property and rejecte...d my claim again. This time the reason was the water proof was not doing well for my bathroom which did not reach the Australia code. After read the reviews, clearly, not reaching the Australia code requirement is the most common reason they used to reject claims. I will move to another company as i have no trust in this company at all. I could see they tired their best to not help, this is not the insurance i am looking for.

There is no value in this insurance now,have been with these people since they took over my policy's from Zurich 24 years old who l miss greatly ,now l have only one left from seven and l will be cancelling today as they now have an overseas call centre who pass you to there supervisor if it gets to hard or it's not in there program ,and you never here from them again ,so one star is to good they do not rate ,they are that bad ,from a client of 30 years plus !!!!!!!!
CLAIM, WHAT CLAIM
Went to claim in 2017 after nearby cyclonic high winds had caused water to leak in garage roof .....was refused the claim as apparently the builder in 1972 had failed to seal the flashing correctly, pleeeease! Despite the rejected claim it still appears on your renewal for four years as a claim????? After the initial policy the cost of the premium jumped ridiculously so time to shop around!
