ANZ (QBE) Home and Contents up 20%
Got renewal. Premium up 20% with no explanation from customer service. And they don’t mention the increase, you need to check the premiums yourself or they’ll just slip the increase in hoping you don’t notice. I suspect this is a profit clawback due to recent bushfire payouts. We live in metro Melbourne so no increased risk here. I gave them the chance to lower premium. They reduced it by 5%. I went with Youi and saved $800, like for like. ANZ will insist that their policy covers replacement of building without the need for you to specify limit.... But they won’t tell you what estimate they use in calculating your premium. Of course they use one, insurance is a mathematical probability business. They obviously add a significant buffer hence the higher premium. Thing is the statistical probability of you ever needing full replacement is very low. Don’t throw your money away. Shop around.
They use Sedgwick to commit fraud from customers
They use 3rd party Sedgwick to commit fraud on their behalf. Deliberately will deceive you. They do not focus on customer satisfaction. Take photos and create a portfolio of evidence.
After 30 years my first claim, a hail storm, rejected. NOTE its ANZ\QBE neither company should be in insurance. Out of five tin rooved houses on my side of the street thanks to QBE I'm the only one not getting a new roof, the advice I received from the insurer was to fix it myself and paint over the stains on the ceiling. Not only am I shafting the insurer but the bank who recommended them as they just fobbed me off when I asked for assistance. I seek comfort in the fact that both originations will loose more income from me moving forward than fixing the roof would have cost them. If I sold a product with no intent of honoring it I would be in jail.
If I could give 0 I would
How can u warrant expecting people being happy about the flooring only being replaced in one area because of a doorway??? my house that is all laminate flooring is in every room even my games room but because doors had to be added for the air con efficiency now renders this room not part of the repair agreement!! I am not having 2 different flooring planks loosing house value cos they have a pathetic rule I want it fixed to the original state it was built in not your cheap fix I pay u so if I have a flood in my kitchen u fix it back to before ...the flood not we will piece it any who with whatever is a close match to your original don’t know how many insurance co are trying this crap but I’m going to consumer affairs next I want what I’m paying for full cover!!! Anyone thinking qbe don’t do it go elsewhere I’ve been with them for many years after this soon to be no more!!!!
Watch out - It is not what you signed up for with QBE.
I took out LANDLORD insurance with QBE only to find out when I had a claim that they had only sold me house hold insurance to make it cheaper than the opposition. So I made them go back to the recording of the conversation when I took it out, and sure enough it was to be LANDLORD insurance so they requested for me to pay the difference before they looked at the claim. Then they did not pay for malicious damage, due to hidden clause "Optional Benefits"
Have been with this company for 5 years now. But after the first claim, realised that everything was hard and im leaving this company. It all started with water damage to the house and after multiple calls to them, they ensure me i can delay the repair as long as possible since i got the source fixed. We delayed because of the new baby arrival. After a few months, got an email saying we need to claim it within 6 months. All the phone calls before this became invalid. All false information provided from phone service. At the end, they said on page 50 of the contract it mentioned that all claim need to be done within 6 months and they 'assume' im aware of this when I enquiry over the phone.
Never let me down
All incidents are not a claim ,even if you think or want them to be there has to be an appature opening due to storm damage not just that water penetrated during a storm (bad building is too common a reason) normally a burst pipe is not however resulting damage is ,wind damage for most part is ,theft, malicious damage etc is covered with police report .they are a big reputable company and your genuine claim is not bigger than their reputation.i and my family have been with them forever, always helpful. I will say outside assessors can be the problem ,them qualifying there existence ,ask for in house assessor if not happy i say the company is great but every thing is not a claim
change to underwriter policy regarding rewiring of home
I have been with QBE insurance for 15 years. I recently received a form letter saying QBE will no longer have the option of 6 monthly payments. I called to see what my options were and also to get a new quote with a higher excess as I had been shopping around and QBE was about $500 more annually than Budget Direct or RACQ. I was told they couldn't assist me and it was best to ring for a brand new quote. I tried online for quote but system advised unable to quote, so I rang and spoke to a very helpful guy Joe. He went through the questions for a...new quote, my house was built in 1935 and this triggered the question, Has your house been completely rewired? I replied no but it has been fitted with a safety switch. Joe referred to his supervisor and came back to say QBE could no longer insure me due to no rewiring and that they have had a change in their underwriters policy about accepting additional risk and that all houses built before 1945 need to be rewired to insure with them!!! I was speechless! I had been very happy with QBE and had a major storm damage claim in 2014 that they processed to my satisfaction. I now have to find a new insurer and wonder if this is an ongoing insurance industry issue.
They do not deserve even a single star!
We wish that we had seen this page much earlier. I am shocked by the number of bad reviews that I have found here.
Why should such a insurance company be allowed to be in business!
We had our home and content insurance with ANZ/QBE for more than 9 years. We took QBE insurance via ANZ bank, and I should be honest that we were fooled by ANZ bank assuming such a reputable bank will not leave us in the hands of such bad insurance company.
We had a leak in our bathroom almost 2 month ago, and QBE contracted Midcity to investigate the issue. Just g...oogle Midcity on Facebook and find out about them yourself. The Midcity report is full of wrong statements on my behalf and false claims about the situation. I have written evidence from my builder that contradicts QBE claims, but yet QBE only refers back to Midcity report which provides no actual evidence and it is only opinion of the plumber. If you just google Midcity and read their reviews on their own Facebook page you will realize why you should not trust QBE.
Disgusting, be warned
My mother holds home insurance with QBE. She died recently and we are in the process of selling her property. In the interim I dont want the insurance to go into arrears as she paid monthly. I contacted QBE to attempt to make payments to prevent this. They initially refused to assist until I demanded to speak to a supervisor. She was little more help. Long story short, I have now complained to The Ombbudsman. This shouldn’t be so hard, people die every day. I’m not trying to steal from them, I want to GIVE them money. DO NOT insure with them. The amount of poor reviews tells the story.
Disgusting insurance company
This is the worst insurance company I have ever uncounted and I will be reporting you to the consumer affairs because I am disgusted my grandparents are insured with your company and had there house vandalized I will post pictures of the damage and have lodged a claim paid the access that use wanted took 3 weeks for your company to send someone out just to LOOK at the damage and she got a call this morning by your company demanding more Money before you fix the damage so my 2 year old is constantly at risk of being cut by the left glass in the ...windows our front door barely locks so the house is constantly at risk of being broken into my grandparents are in there 70s and on a age pension your company is basically robbing them blind use should be ashamed they pay there insurance every fortnight and use still rob them blind
DO NOT USE THIS INSURER
I would not use this insurer, I had my block of apartments with them and a Tenant damaged one apartment. They said the apartment previously had a leak and then wouldn't cover any damage. Even with clear before and after reports.
PATHETIC AND BEWARE
What a joke this company is, steer clear! I had a water leak in a recess between a shower and walk in wardrobe that was not visible due to shelving and told my claim to repair carpet and plaster was declined. Apparently gradual leaks are not covered I’m told. I should have had some moisture sensors installed in my walls, brilliant idea. That’s not all, during the inspection, someone decided to cut my carpet without my consent but of course this was also ignored, fantastic support for a customer of over 20 years asking me to review their PD...S, typical insurance response to decline a claim based on their endless amount of fine print that never in a lifetime will my annual $1,000 cover provide value for money. Where was the consideration for me on my loyalty toward their organisation paying every year without default only to be gouged like the poor little consumer deserves. No point going to the ACCC or small claim tribunal, I’m one person who doesn’t have the time or patience to go through all of this so guess what, they win again. I was even asked to escalate my claim to their internal Dispute Team, was this meant to make me feel better or just another way to grind me down to the inevitable. Guess what they escalated it anyway and got the response I expected, even better, they addressed my wife as Donna, her name is Anna! All I’ve had is copy and paste responses and my time with them is done! PATHETIC !
Shocking Customer Servive
Having been a customer for more than 10 years I expected more from QBE. I recently moved house and changed my insurance provider as QBE were unable to meet my needs. I had paid up front for a full year and was due a refund for 8 months worth of premium I was told that this would be refunded onto my credit card. After 2 weeks I called to ask were my refund was and was told that it had not been processed properly and would now be sorted and go onto my credit card. 1 month later and still no refund! After threatening to give bad feedback I was called today to be told it had been sent out as a cheque to my old address!!! The incompetence and lack of communication is so unprofessional. Choose another insurance company.
I took out ANZ home and contents insurance after glowing reviews from "Choice". This company uses a Philippines call centre who then refer you to a centralised contractor in another state who then gets a local in your state to quote on the repair. The process is far too long requiring the customer to keep following up. In the end I gave up and just obtained a pay out to go and arrange a repairer myself. ANZ is just and agent for QBE insurance and on the basis of my poor experience I recommend you look elsewhere.
QBE Insurance dragging the chain on our claim
We have been insured with QBE via the ANZ bank since we purchased our home in late 2015. In late November last year, our upstairs bathroom was damaged in a severe storm, with water undermining the wall in our shower recess. Water also found its way into the floor cavity, causing some damage to the plaster ceiling in our kitchen. More than 3 months later we still have no resolution. Both the insurer's builder and a builder we engaged confirmed that the damage was so extensive that the entire bathroom needed to stripped out and relined. Our build...er quoted $16000 for the work and an additional $6000 to replace & install bathroom fittings - toilet, basin etc. The insurer's builder came back with a quote for just over $8000 excluding fittings but acknowledging they may need to be replaced. After taking out excess, QBE offered us a settlement of just over $7000. QBE acknowledged their builder supplied a quote based on a discount rate, which is meaningless to us, because that builder said they would not be able to guarantee the work. We have demanded QBE revise its offer.
QBE INSURANCE IS UNREASONABLE
Our house roof got damaged by the recent storm. QBE inspected the issue and informed me that they have declined the claim as it was "a pre-existing damage". THIS IS TOTALLY UNREASONABLE ! If they keep using this as reason to reject claims, then every claim can be rejected.
My house has rented out to the current tenant for more than 4 years and never have water leaking issue from the rooftop to the ceiling until the storm arrives.
I have purchased my insurance via ANZ and they use QBE to handle my claim, while QBE hire Johns Lyng Group to ass...ess the issue. I have spoken to one of the QBE staff but his manner is not nice at all, keep asking me how I can prove it is not pre-existing damage and said my claim doesn't make sense to him. To me, his response is completely nonsense to me. The rooftop never has water leaking in many years before, isn't it enough to prove the rooftop is in good condition previously? Not mentioning that I have also provide evidence from Government to prove there is storm on that particular days together with the tenants email, photos and video clip to show the leaking. We never know when incident will happen, that's why we buy insurance. As long as the damage is not done on purpose, such as weather issue, then I believe the damage should be covered. According to my friend, Terri Scheer is much better and he got his ceiling and rooftop repaired which is damaged by the storm in just 2 weeks. This is a good lesson to all of us that it's time to change because your insurance is not going to cover anything.
Questions & Answers
I have breakinn theff took most of the stuff. I just read all reviews I bit scared now . Will qbe accepted my cliam. If they don't what should need to do. Do I need to hire a solicitor. For my cliam.
Hi Prince, as with all claims, you will need to submit a claim form with supporting documents for assessment and a determination will be made on your claim. You can find the claim form here - https://www.qbe.com/au/claims
Is there enough dissatisfaction with QBE and their tactics to present a complaint to ASIC
I’m told I was going to get a call to respond my claim but just like I expected no call and no follow up
