The most appallingly terrible insurance company ever!!!
We have a penthouse on Hamilton Island that was effected by Cyclone Debbie on 28th March 2017. The cyclone did minimal damage to our apartment but the QBE appointed rectifiers, Johns Lyng Group have destroyed with the blessing of QBE our apartment's fixtures and fittings, both internally and externally. QBE have rejected our claims for rectification of the damaged and destroyed bathrooms, cabinetry, doors, windows, mirrors, floor and wall tiles, appliances and artificial grass, The senior management of QBE are totally disinterested. We have sub...mitted expert reports which QBE have either not responded, ignored or QBE have made ridiculous outrageous and unsubstantiated conclusions that contradict the submitted at great expense expert's reports. We are around $500,000 out of pocket because of QBE's complicit destruction of our apartment and not accepting responsibility. We have also forwarded to QBE videos and photographs to substantiate our claim. We have visited QBE and spoken to their senior management without success. We have written numerous emails to QBE without success. We have called them numerous times without success. We have come to the conclusion that QBE's policy is to take your premiums but never payout even when presented with irrefutable evidence that supports your claim. A company solely motivated by avarice, profit and greed and without a scent of ethics or morality. We have forwarded our valid claim to FOS and we are awaiting their response.
If you are thinking of taking our an insurance policy with QBE don’t
If there was a zero star I would give QBE a zero.
You put in a claim. QBE sent you an email with the contact details of the claim officer. You call the (02) number and guess what it a call centre. You have to constantly call QBE for updates of your claim.
Construct Services (QBE subcontractor who does the assessment) did not even climb into the roof cavity to undertake the inspection.
The site report was riddle with errors like carpet on ceilings. My house the carpet was on the floor. The engineer who contract to undertake the ins...pection told me he was from Structerre when he was from ICPS Australia and got my house plan back to front. The crack ceilings was in the kitchen / family room ar the back of the house not at the front of the house. Who property did he inspect? After over 45 days of farting around and many wasteful hours on the phone with QBE I finally spoke to the case officer who ran me at 4.30pm on Friday that my claim was rejected.
There is an old saying that insurance is only good when you need it and after being a longtime customer with not only home but also car insurance for many years i finally got to find out how good or in this case how bad they actually are. After having the roof leak from severe weather conditions and causing ceiling damage i contacted qbe to lodge a claim. After getting a accessor out to view the damage they decided that only the ceiling would be repaired which makes no sense given the damage would only reoccur if the roof was not fixed first....They then decided to send another accessor out and then after a month of a leaking roof as it was our wet season they decided they weren't going to cover anything. This decision was only reached after constant contact on my behalf as they weren't willing to contact with an undate. It just appeared that they were taking as long as possible and had absolutely no desire to pay and were just looking for an excuse not to pay. Save your money and avoid this company because when you need them they certainly won't be there.

Worst insurance company ever!!
My home was damaged during a winstorm in March 2018. I contacted QBE and was told, not to worry, everything would be fixed. NOT!!!! An independent adjuster came a week later and documented the visible damage. I got estimates for repairs to roof, gutters and siding. QBE sent a check for 1/4 th of what it has costed for repairs. I have called to talk with claims agent several times and once to his supervisor. I was told to submit the estimates. I did. No response. I called again and was told they were not received.
Sent again. No word. Contact...

We discovered that our shower base in the en-suite had a crack in it, at first we thought it was just a matter of changing the base and didn't see it was worth going through the insurance to make a claim.
We purchased a new shower base and upon removal of the old one we discovered that half the floor was rotted with damage to the studs and baseplate as well.
We then called to make a claim as we knew it was more than what we expected.
We explained everything and as we had the floor cut out already , we stressed that it was a matter of urgency...
QBE Home & Contents Insurance: Our experience of making a claim & complaint to QBE
17/06/18: Complaint submitted to QBE Complaints Department. We requested a discount on our two other insurance policies, as compensation and gesture of good will from QBE, towards our considerable patience and efforts to resolve a verandah leak, which occurred after installation of roof cladding (February 2018) to repair hail damage from a hail storm (December 2017).
Grounds for our complaint and seeking compensation:
• A carpenter was assigned to replace the verandah roof cladding. We later discovered this is illegal – a plumber by law s...hould have installed the roof cladding. • We spent countless hours corresponding with QBE (via phone and email), further complicated by there being two different Claims Officers assigned to our case, involving much misunderstanding and miscommunication. The call centre appears to be located overseas and poorly managed. A few examples: • It took multiple emails over two months, to be reimbursed less than $25.00 for cladding repair tape we used to temporarily repair hailstone damage to roof cladding – saving QBE considerable money since the alternative was tarpaulins.
The WORST experience with ANY company
Nearly 10 months on after legitimate claim, hours spent on phone, email and even ignored letter of complaint. The customer service is appalling and even lack basic English stay away. Taken my matter to the Financial Ombudsman as get nowhere with QBE, tried to just replace kickboards of a flooded kitchen when all cupboards are moldy after months water damage and inside and doors rotting - absolute joke!
ELECTRICAL STORM DAMAGE
Hi guys just been through a most painful ordeal with QBE. our family has been with ANZ and QBE for 30plus years never made a claim and have dug deep to pay premiums on numerous properties .we purchase a new home 4 years ago and added this property to another policy with QBE. it is a solar off the grid home on a bush property. Storm damage was the cause to the solar inverter ie .water damage from roof vent getting blown off. After 3 weeks of major costs in electricians x3 and a solar technician x1. Plus loosing all power and water to property pl...us running generator and associated costs of that daily totaling 1500 thus far....still no word . Till yesterday I was notified NOT COVERED.!!!!! well technician reports quotation reports photo evidence and all needed instructions from 7 different people I dealt with explaining my mother's situation including a lady in MANILA PHILLIPINES of all places each and every time was to say the least a really bad experience at a good cost as well. QBE has put up a brick wall at everything they asked me to provide saying it's not in my mother's policy. Well a good lesson learnt and a real life experience that sums up what you hear and see on television about their enormous profits each year well. IT'S A TRUE FACT !!!!! people. Disgusting way to run a business that actually takes your hard earned money and you benefit nothing from it worst than having to pay tax every year. QBE your a shocker!!!take take take and fill those deep pockets. Well my family has learnt a major lesson in life here.. no power no water no food no HELP!!! and for this we give you NO MORE MONEY. another unhappy customer terminated from your greedy hands!!!!!. Do yourself a favour guys please look elsewhere than QBE for you insurance. Cheers.I'll just add this review to the long list here of jacked up ex.customers. read your reviews QBE there is a pattern and it's all bad ... wake up to yourselves and each Friday open your pay packets ponder for just 10 seconds and ask your selves is this where our loyal customers money come from ...???? Us proud Australian hard working people out here on the other side of your front doors know the answer. Our family is like the rest of the people here in the review coloums marching on down the road to alot better insurance provider...flatline rating for you QBE. goodbye.
Appalling! They made the room unusable.
I'm astounded by the number of people I have told about this who say words to the effect, "Don't tell me the company, let me guess, it was QBE right?" Seems almost everyone I know was aware of their terrible reputation, except for me! Made two claims for water damage. One was a bathroom cabinet damaged by a faulty tap. The other was for a small, carpeted room that is part of my home office, where my students wait. The water damage was some time ago, we don't know the specific dates and were very honest about this when initiating the claim. The ...person who first took the details at QBE said it didn't matter about the dates, saying he'd just write it down as 15 April. We only made the claims because my son is chronically ill and the doctor has diagnosed one of the causes as mould, informing us we needed to check our house for any water damage. That's when we realised the damage from the water may be more extensive, so we had a mould inspector come out who removed a small amount of mould from the corner of the underlay in my waiting room. As for the bathroom, we had already replaced the cupboard door and faulty tap, paying for a plumber to come out and install it as it hadn't even occurred to us to make a claim, having only made our first ever home and contents insurance claim last year, after a robbery. In taking a closer look at the cabinet though, there was water damage at the side of the cabinet and elsewhere, confirmed by QBE's inspector who came out and took photos. QBE has declined our claim to replace the cabinet because it was caused by a slow leak, not a sudden one and replacement of the carpet in my waiting room has also been declined. When I spoke to the claims officer she said it was declined because the damage occurred during a renovation. When I explained there hadn't been any renovation, she looked at the notes further and said she'd have to confirm the date of the storm. When I explained, yet again, that we didn't know the precise date and were making the claim after-the-fact, she said we should have notified them as soon as the water damage occurred and couldn't make a claim now. It would have been helpful to know that upfront, given we were very clear about not knowing the date when first making the claim, but that's not where this ends. When the carpet inspector came out he said he'd take a look and call me if he needed anything, so I left him and went back up to the house. After awhile I went down to check how it was going and discovered he had removed all of the carpet and was in the middle of removing the underlay. He explained he hadn't found any mould but there was evidence of water damage so it needed to be removed. The underlay was in pieces so it was too late to ask him to put it back, so I was left with a dirty, dusty, cold (it's the middle of winter) concrete floor, making the room unusable. I was shocked that he had done that, especially since there wasn't any mould, as he hadn't sought my permission and I certainly hadn't offered it and the room had been usable prior to his arrival. When I explained to the claims officer that I hadn't given my consent she said the inspector had probably removed the carpet based on their "make safe" policy. When I asked why he needed to make it safe when he hadn't found any mould she claimed his report said there WAS mould! I didn't see any mould on any of the carpet or underlay the inspector removed, so I doubt it was removed based on a "make safe" and if it was, that's a joke as there is now a tripping hazard in the doorway where the students walk in, where the edge of the carpet from the main classroom remains unsealed. With all of the medical bills I cannot afford to replace the flooring and given there was some water damage but it wasn't a health hazard, the carpet should have been left for me to replace if and when I decided it was appropriate. I certainly couldn't recommend QBE to anyone and would in fact recommend they be avoided at all costs. I am being forced to give them a star rating but don't think they even deserve one star. We will certainly be cancelling our policy and taking our business elsewhere.
Home and contents with QBE one claim in nearly 20 years, they told me there was no record of my policy on the system I contacted them a number of times with the same response. I eventually found the policy quoted policy number and yes you do have a policy with us. I have now changed to another insurer and saved over $500 in the process.
Pay a lot of money for building and content insurance so when I recently had a flood upstairs I rang qbe and yes not a problem they sent people out to make safe property, however almost 3 weeks on I am still ringing them to get this claim sorted. Lost about 7k worth of goods including a bed that was directly below downstairs. They expect my child to sleep on the floor. Wth. Then today told oh you have to pay excess before we will look at it. Big insurance company have no idea how normal people live day by day. If anyone is reading this beware go to another company
absolutely terrible - zero stars
My neighbour put in a claim for repair of a common limestone wall (he built it) between our properties. QBE approved the propping to make the wall safe, with propping on my property. Then they rejected the repair claim. That was in June 2017. The FOS found against QBE on December 23, 2017 ordering them to repair the wall. The propping structure is still there in August 2018. QBE are the worst company I've ever dealt with.

Rollerdoor repair review
After having a third party accidentally accelerate his vehicle through my rollerdoor also damaging brick work to my house in September 2017 i made a claim with QBE providing all sufficient 3rd party details. After some 6 weeks of hearing no progress and concerned with security issues of my home i emailed QBE and responded with please provide details this claim relates to. Already sending numerous emails beforehand i thought that was sufficient enough to link to my claim. My bad apparently. By November i received apologies after i requested QBE ...to put a "help yourself" sign on my smash in rollerdoor so i could have the pleasure of going through another tedious drawn out claim. After i had i paid $250 in excess which i was not happy about as it wasn't my fault regarding the damage. Well some SIX MONTHS after the accident it was finally repaired. A major stress with security and the constant banging of the roller door. Even blowing over 44 gallon drums full of paving bricks. In May this year i asked if i could have my $250 excess back as promised now that this nightmare was over. Amazingly i was again asked to provide the third party details for recovery. Yes, i am still waiting. Unbelievable. I even requested that i take over as their claim manager. So i am hoping to get my excess back by September just to make it a year to complete this claim. Astonishing stuff isn't it.
Water damage in our bedroom and built in robe which is causing mould and roughly 400x400 in diameter and starting to sag. made a claim inspector (builder) and a plumber came out and said it was blocked gutters which i thought was wrong as water was coming in from the front gable. Was recommended to clean gutters so i did and 1 week later wind and rain hit us again and more water damage so another call i made to QBE and they sent out a roof specialised who said it has nothing to do with the gutters, its your gable..well i guess i was right the first time..QBE contacted me 1 week later to say i wasn't covered....20 years I've been paying insurance with this mob and they just turn there back on me.
$4500 per year in premiums but no intention to honour claims
We have had home and contents insurance with QBE now for 9 years and pay what I believe to be a significant premium. Until recently we had not had any reason to claim, unfortunately this year we have tried to make two small claims.
The first related to a broken window which was accidentally damaged by one of the children. Long story short no one ever came to view the damage but QBE were somehow able to obtain a quote from a company that equaled the amount of excess ($500) and so washed their hands of it. Getting a real quote for someone...to come and do the work looks like it is going to be closer to $1000. A few months later the piping from the pool pump failed spraying water across all of the electrical equipment causing damage to pumps, chlorination equipment and heating systems. QBE sent a contractor round to view the equipment who have allegedly quoted slightly less than the $500 excess to repair the equipment. I say allegedly as I have seen nothing in writing from QBE - I have to constantly chase them up - and I cannot believe that any registered electrician would want to repair water damaged equipment in a domestic setting. In the meantime with the pool systems not being operational I now have a nice green pool! It is evident that QBE have a deliberate policy of doing everything possible to not pay any claim and use the overseas call center to good effect to ensure that the claim becomes frustrated. Whilst it can be frustrating when speaking with overseas call centres please be aware that the person on the other end of the phone is genuinely doing their best, the issue lies with QBE hiding behind these people. It is disappointing after 9 years of paying our premium that when we do need to make a claim there is a clear lack of intent. Reading other posts on here I have no faith in this getting resolved in an expedient manner.
Premium notice mailed after Policy had expired; premium more than tripled
ANZ Home and Contents Cover was up for renewal on 1 April. The renewal notice was dated 6 March 2018, but post-marked from Sydney on 24 April, after the policy had expired. The premium went from $1791.74, to $ 6,306.12. Many long telephone calls later the premium has been reduced to $2,628.48. Cover is from QBE. At that price, the policy is reasonable value. However, there is no mechanism to pay. I have received an SMS reminder to pay, but with no invoice to pay on. Our local ANZ bank tried to take the payment, but spent 30 minutes with no luck.... Each time I speak with a consultant I am told that there is a direct debit authority in place; well there never has been, and I am glad of that. I am now waiting for my CC to be charged so that I am sure of cover. Today is 17 May, over 6 weeks since I should have received a renewal notice. One bright spot: unfailingly polite, but ineffectual telephone consultants.

The worst experience ever.
It's now been 4 days since I tried to make a claim every time I call I'm told someone will call me back. Today for the fourth time and after being on hold for 40 minutes they say can you hold while we transfer you . No I can not someone needs to call me back , person on phone say but that's not my department I need to transfer you. No I want to be called. What's your claim number well that's it I don't have one because each time I call I'm told I'll be called back. As if things have not been stressful enough the service has been worse. I'll defiantly be changing companies after this terrible service.

Hi Prince, as with all claims, you will need to submit a claim form with supporting documents for assessment and a determination will be made on your claim. You can find the claim form here - https://www.qbe.com/au/claims
Is there enough dissatisfaction with QBE and their tactics to present a complaint to ASIC
I’m told I was going to get a call to respond my claim but just like I expected no call and no follow up
