The team at Qbe and their assessors have a lot to answer for . A straight forward claim of goods destroyed as a result of them being left outside in rain for 48 hours is classed as partially destroyed . The assessor has no real experience with electronic goods yet he has the authority and supposed knowledge to not fully authorize the claim. My business insurance and marine insurance will be terminated at the end of the policy.
Worst insurance ever
Had a claim made late November 2017 my wife calls and emails the assessor on a daily basis as he said he'd call 7 days ago since everything has been done and we get avoided, have called several times to QBE and they give the fake excuse that they haven't received all the docs which is crap because the assessor told us it was all done 7 days ago, today being 1.2.18.
Joke of a company! Take your business else where, I'd rather pay more and get decent service.

Worst insurance experience I ever had, paid my home and contents insurance to QBE for 6 years for received bad experience with claim process. Not recommended to anyone who's thinking to get QBE Insurance, not worth it. Had to claim expenses for my roof tile and seal repair caused by storm damage when I had initial contact with QBE, I clearly mentioned that the jobs were done by my pointed roof repairer only need to claim, you sent my details to Pattersons / Insurerbuild, they called me twice asking for onsite inspection - poor communication. Se...condly, no clear indication of what to provide for making claim. As required in your separate emails, I have sent you quote/invoice/receipt/roof damage report/repair items everything I had for my roof repair jobs then been told need to submit a invoice contains list all the labour and material by items. That's ridiculous, why didn't tell me at front when I first contact you for claim. Extremely bad process for claim from customer point of view. Thirdly, during the whole process I didn't receive any response for three months, slow customer responses, what QBE are doing???? Why waste my time??? Also during the whole claim process, I didn't receive any phone call from you explaining what the claim processes would be and how long it would time. Had to stop paying qbe as not worth a cent!!!!!
Terrible terrible terrible
I would like to make a claim for a broken window but been on hold for over an hour how!!!! Worse customer service I have even had. I don't trust their online system as used it a few months ago and they say they never received my claim. Will be changing after this claim not worth the hassle.

...There is no customer priority here! I was disconnected multiple times. The claims people couldn’t speak or understand English properly. They had no idea despite repeatedly giving them the same information. I could hear people speaking loudly in another language while I was not put on hold properly for over 45minutes! Laughing and yelling, repeatedly saying “oh my gooooood” and swearing. The details of the claim was incorrectly documented multiple times I asked for a supervisor multiple times and was not transferred at all. In fact I was able to hear the claims officer discussing my case with a person inappropriately in the background of the call! HOLD BUTTON PEOPLE... seriously I was given different information and requests from my APPROVED CLAIM no less than 3 times The supplier providing replacements that I specifically asked not to use has contacted me, without qbe notifying me at all Multiple phone calls multiple stuff ups and disgusting customer service There was nothing that was simple And staff had no idea
Absolute joke - QBE are an example of why insurance companies have such a dismal reputation.
I lodged a claim with them for a broken window which was going to cost me $500 in excess and QBE less than $400 and they did everything they could to weasel out of paying it - to the point that I told them don't bother, my policy is almost due so I'll find a different insurer. I'd hate to try to deal with them if my house burnt down or something! I wonder how many million their CEO gets paid yet they penny pinch on a tiny claim like mine... oh well, bye, bye QBE.
Cancelled Policy No Explanation
Did not receive renewal for home rang to ascertain why to be told policy was cancelled 7 days after made payment over phone. Could not afford a reason for canceling policy other than money did not go through however they issued me a receipt number and further it was deducted from bank account. Requested feedback why it occurred and refund of money. In the interim had to take out a new policy to cover house. Did not have access to internet as on holiday to research other companies. Waiting over a week for feedback and money to be refunded w...hen finally got told money was put on new policy. Not authorised by me and stated how did they know I didn't go somewhere else. Requested they further apply the discount rate for long term policy holder which had not been considered. Waited two more days still no response or email. Eventually signed up with another company. Reported to Ombudsman etc but still no feedback from QBE. Buyer beware. Long term policy holder for many years and accounts however will be slowly taking out a new policy with another. Poor customer relations and no expansion or reason for originally cancelling policy. Plus still waiting for refunded money. Now been a month.
Good price and good customer service
I telephoned QBE to get a quote for my home and contents insurance. The price was $900 cheaper than one of the leading insurance companies in NSW who I am currently insured with, and has more benefits. The lady I spoke to was very pleasant, knew her products and had a quote emailed to me within 10 minutes of ending the call. I do have another policy with them as well and have always founds them to be very helpful and easy to deal with. I have never needed to make an insurance claim with QBE so I can’t comment on that process.

Cancel your policy immediately! Worst service I’ve ever ever had!!!! Lodged a claim after a Direct hit with Lightning over a month ago and has gone nowhere!!!!! never been called, Ive had chase up time after time with little or no help whatsoever!!

After my kitchen flooded we lodged a claim no investigations of the source of the leak was undertaken, they asked us what happened and we said it looked like the dishwasher flooded, we were told to repair the dishwasher which we did and the repairs for the damage caused started and still ongoing -- this happened in September .. now its flooded again .. this time we moved the dishwasher out to look for ourselves... I was washing dishes in the sink by hand and another flood and same damage happened to our floors, NOW they are trying to tell us th...is a new event and that we have to pay another $500 excess and that we are responsible to have the leak fixed behind the wall ... the initial issue was never investigated ... When this time they sent the leak finder he told us the pipes was the cause of the initial dishwasher flooding and this one too. You should be paying for the repairs to the pipe NOT US, we already paid for the dishwasher repairs at your direction. If you did your job properly in the first place this would never have happened. I have lost confidence in you QBE and would never recommend anyone to go with QBE Home Insurance ever again, there is nothing prestige about your QBE Prestige cover. In the meantime I continue to wash dishes in my laundry trough so I don't cause more damage to my floors.
After six months of waiting, various emails and telephone calls, different claims people, surprise/surprise they refuse claim agreeing only to do half a kitchen as policy does not agree to match cupboards!!! Really what is the point of having insurance for water damage.
Find another insurance company
Rang re landlord insurance. Seemed to get an overseas call centre. After several days and more phone calls and company based 2000 klms was awarded the contract to "assess" the job! Three weeks later still no word. More phone calls. Finally had the claim rejected(surprise! surprise!) as the damage was deemed to have occurred over a period of 6 months and wasn't a "one off event"-which would have been covered. 10 years paying premiums with this company but soon as the renewal is due I will be changing insurance companies.
What A Waste Of Time And Money!!!
Possibly the worst customer support service I have ever encountered, it took over a month to let me know if I had a claim approved or not. Mainly to a language barrier I encountered with the support team. I asked for an Australian representative and all I got was the immediate supervisor over and over again, 15 years of paying premiums in Australian dollars to an insurance company with an Australian bank only to be treated like this. Never again... I fully recommend you do not consider this insurance company.

I have many defects in my house because of building faults but major one is over 2 mm cracks all over the floor, contacted qbe to check the problem.
Every time they send an inspector to inspect says it’s very serious needs to get fixed but when go back send me email that they can’t fix that.
I have been chasing them for last 8-9 months to get it fixed.
I am so over that.

In September 2017 there was lightening strike that damaged our property and adjacent properties. On the day after the strike, I obtained two quotes for the damage from two different contractors, and emailed details with a claim to QBE. I received two email acknowledgements with two claim references. A week later QBE sent its representative, Construct Building Repair Services to assess the damage and get two more quotes. They got the quotes that were more expensive than the two, I obtained, and also sent a repairman around to try and fix the fus...ed motor. Nothing else happened from Construct, as they could not get any confirmation from QBE. I sent four more emails to QBE claims department. I heard nothing, and finally telephoned QBE claims at their QBE number which was diverted to their Filopino service centre. Filopino staff claimed they could not find my claim, despite giving them the QBE reference numbers, and I was asked to resend to another email address. I resent it and was then phoned by a Fiopino asking for claim reference numbers, which were on the email. The staff they employ are obviously being paid very little, because the quality of service is almost non existent. I provided the details and was told someone would contact me within a week. Then today, I got another email in reply to the one I sent on 4 October 2017 with my quotations, asking for the claim reference again. I referred the Filopino to the Numbers emailed back by QBE. when I lodged the claim. QBE staff claimed to not be able to find it once again. This time I telephoned the QBE Complaint Service on their 1330 number. at 11.30 on Monday a business day. I was told the due the high level of calls that they could not take my complaint and to leave my details. I left my name and number and no on called me back. I decided to not wait anymore for QBE and have now instructed the contractor with the lowest quotation to proceed with the repairs, as I could not wait anymore. I agree QBW does not deserve one star.
Why am I still waiting
The water pipe under the vanity unit burst on 17th July 2017 it is now 31st August and I am still waiting for a trades person to come out and replace the vanity. The first tradesmen never showed up on 4 separate occasions. Maincom Services then arranged for another tradesmen, now this tradesmen hasn't shown up on 2 occasions. The claim was approved and I paid the excess on 11th August. You have my money but I still don't have my vanity replaced.

The fundamental problem is the offshore call center they use.
They know very limited and useless English for their job, know nothing about Australia and housing systems in here, very disorganized and what can be more annoying than waiting around 10-15 mins to speak to one of those personnel! And you know they are not cheap neither!!!

Horrible service in my time of need!
I've paid my premiums faithfully for almost 10 years, but after Hurricane Harvey when I filed a covered claim (not flood damage) I have been met with nothing but run-around and down right ignoring me! Do not use QBE!
QBE lost a good customer
Defense Service Homes, been with them for years just to stay loyal, even tho no loans with them now. Never claimed on contents. Had flooring laid, and moved polished table and wall unit outside, covered up under verandah. Table had a heavy curtain plus a waterproof tarp over...Next day the polish had what is called 'blooming' due to condensation mixing with polish. Tiny print exclusion, fungus, mildew. We are pensioners and look after our things, yet I asked if I'd left a candle burning on the table and it caught fire would it be covered ??? Yes because it was fire. It took over 4 weeks to get someone to come and assess the damage.
