Process gaps lead to delays in accessing Superannuation entitlements
Retirees who have experienced delays accessing pension or lump sum payouts on retirement please post a review.
1. Accessing your QSuper entitlements is a hugely important decision making process that you will likely enter into just once in your life
2. Its a decision making process that will impact the rest of your life until you die
3. Despite this, there is a vast amount of QSuper information online, but nothing that specifically says Step 1, Step 2 etc
4. After years of service to the public you will be left to your own devices to wade...
The worst of humanity
I have found the process of claiming income protection to be extremely distressing. In fact I would say that it has made my mental health worse, and I have had many meltdowns from this process related to my autism spectrum disorder, which further prevents me from working.
In the case where income protection is meant to help you when you are ill and cannot work, my experience with QSuper has instead been to waste what little "healthy" time I have (where I could have been spending that energy on working or recovering) and to worsen my mental he...
Superannuation paid into a deceased estate
My brother died with money in q super which they are refusing to release to his estate because q super say they decide who gets the money left in his superannuation fund. My brothers wishes are being ignored and q super say they will decide who gets the superannuation money. Get out of q super everyone....

Charging for unwanted products / steer clear
Nurses scrutinise your statements like you did your pay a few years back!
Bit of creative accounting going on and it's not in your favour!
Change funds!
-Fees are excessive by comparison to other funds with better returns.
-No set admin fee- this too is charged per percentage of your balance- supposedly at 0.16% but this figure is very "fluid" , just doesn't add up.
-Fees eg Investment fee wasn't worked out correctly against my balance according to the percentage they claim to charge. Stated 0.27%.
The investment fee doubled in 12 months ...

Rort. If you ask me, their fees are way too high
I called up regarding what I thought was a second account which I found out there wasn't, however I discovered that I had "income protection cover" that was costing me $35 a week for $13,000 if I became unwell, & of course, if they approved it! Wow - that's $1960 a year of my money plus I had other fees coming out. This is outrageous. Basically $2,000 plus a year in silly insurance fees that you might (probably) wouldn't be allowed to have for a lousy $13,000!
Something seriously wrong with Super companies. They are making a lot of money out o...

A money-loser
I have a small super account with them which started life a long time ago with Queensland government super. It built up nicely but since going into QSuper it has disappeared. They deducted fees and life insurance till it got below $500 and now they are still deducting fees, so it will disappear completely eventually. I fear that they will then start saying I owe them money for managing an empty account. I am eligible to take the money out now but they have never contacted me to tell me so, unlike my other fund. I will have to get in touch with them to start that process and I suspect they will just delay it until they have deducted all the money for themselves. In fact, when I pay the exit fee I won't have anything left.

Not very helpful
I had only been a member for over a year and switched to Australian Super. To start they misspelled my name on application which meant i could not access my account, more delays to sort out. I made a query about my balance not correlating to a spreadsheet i made up using the daily unit prices. They found this difficult and more or less fobbed me off. I mean Super is not some piddling bank account it has large sum of money. Even the low life Banks have to account for every cent. I export my QSuper transactions as Exel and import to my Imac sprea...
Read moredsheet no problems. But trying to export the QSuper daily unit price does not work. I brought this to their attention as well as my other concern and had to wait over a month for a reply. It was more or less tough, just go out and buy Microsoft Exel. Are you kidding, how about you get IT of their butt and fix it for the customers. I don't recall having a Windows computer as a joining requirement!! This is a poor response from a QSuper Supervisor. I am surprised the Royal Commission has rushed through the Superannuation Industry, but it was hobbled with only a year to look at Banks. I think there is a can of worms considering the 2.6 Trillion dollars sitting there that most working people do not keep a close eye on.Bludging public servants
If you need to withdraw money from your super fund in a timely manner switch to another fund. I am still waiting after 6 business days and have been told that the 7 day maximum is not yet up.

Unbelievably archaic and inflexible signup rules
Just a rant about QSuper as I need to blow off some steam. I'm moving to Queensland Health from NSW next year, so thought I'd be proactive and sign up for a QSuper account to get things started. Guy on the phone said it was a quick easy process to do online. Signed up as he suggested, but declined the included insurance as I figured it was better not to pay fees on that while I tested the waters over the next few days to make sure their additional life/TPD insurance could be obtained at similar cost to my old fund. If so I would then shift ...
Read moremy funds over. Turns out that even in 2018, that one click of the button is an irreversible action that means in perpetuity I will never be able to receive the same benefits that are given as default to all other Queensland Government employees. I will never be able to receive the default 3 units of life insurance, or the included income protection insurance. Even though I'd been signed up only a few days, made a contribution to kick things off, and made good contact with them, if I join Queensland Health at a later date I am forever tainted and will not be able to receive those benefits. Even transferring my newly deposited funds out and closing my account will not help; they will retain records that will always say I signed up one day when not a Queensland Government employee at the time. So even signing up again once an employee will not help. Nowhere in the signup process does it state this. It comes close by saying you shouldn't sign up online if you are a current or new QLD Govt employee, but it doesn't actually have anything specific about my situation. Anyway, they claim a 10 minute signup process, but instead I guess I needed to have read through and completely understood the complexities of the entirety of their PDS just for signing up. Sure, my mistake, but I guess I never imagined that a simple act of signing up could alter your insurance prospects forever. You would think they could make an exception for someone who was just trying to proactively sign over their super (and wife's super) to them, and figured out the error right at the very beginning. It would be just as simple a click of a button as I made. Anyway, just my little rant/warning about QSuper. You can certainly get caught out on the wrong side of them and be left with nowhere to turn.Find out how QSuper compares to other Public Sector Superannuation Funds

QSuper - glad I am leaving
I have been with Qsuper over 20 years, however the inflexiibilty of insurance area, who i think now run QSuper has caused me to move my funds elsewhere, as well as the lower returns and high fees received from them, other super funds have lower fees and higher returns and more flexible insurance approaches.

Excellent Super Fund
I joined QSuper about 2 Months ago and rolled over my other Super account into it. I have been a member of several different funds over the decades and I can categorically say that QSuper is the best Super fund I have ever been with.
I have had phone contact with them 3 times and all calls were answered professionally and courteously and in quick time. My first call was before I joined. My question was "do I need to take out insurance if I join up"? The answer was no. The thing is there is a choice not to take it and I did not and have never...
Read more paid anything into it. Those that have complained about insurance fees are wrong, you can avoid it or cancel it it anytime. There is no use complaining about something that you may not have done. I find their fees are lower than most other Super funds too. I also like the self invest option where I can choose to buy my own ETF's and shares as I wish. Plus being able to buy my own term deposits gives me so much freedom. It's like having a Self Managed Super Fund but QSuper do all the compliance for you without the headaches of running your own SMSF. It is exactly what I needed. I have made a few switches within the fund and it is easy and effortless and goes through in 2 working days. With the lower fees compared to my other funds, self invest option and the ability to switch anytime with minimal costs this is definitely the best Super fund I have ever been with. Why do I only give it 4 stars and not 5? Because their brokerage fees in Self Invest are a bit too high but other than that it is the right Super Fund for me. Thank you.csongsAU

Excellent product
I’ve been with QSuper for over 10 years now and have been really happy with it. It has consistently given me excellent returns and it is so easy to swap between investment options. I’ve definitely recommended it to others as a very good option.

Consider QSuper the best Super I have had.
Am absolutely astounded by the negative reviews, having been a member for 18 years now, I cannot fault them. The fees are less than other funds and can switch between options without cost. Have not had to call on the life or TPD Insurance, but these often come as a default package. As far as income protection is concerned, I have had to claim it twice the first time for 11 months and the second time 18 months. In both cases payments were commenced in the first week that it was eligible and provided the conditions were met, there were no issu...
Read morees what so ever and cannot speak more highly of QSuper. Furthermore, the qualifying period is only two weeks with "defined benefit". They also offer many more services, some free while others have a cost, like financial advice which is way lower than outside services. Also I note that one complaint involved what appeared an accident at work. Well, to my understanding that is not the intention of income protection, that should be workers compensation. The complaints appear to have worsened over the last few years, I don't know if it's because the State Government has ripped off the reserve funds from the organisation to help feed the state coffers. Lets hope there isn't another GFC anytime soon. Overall I personally find that of the three superannuation companies I have had dealings with I personally prefer QSuper to the other two. It consistently outperformed them both.MaxBrisbane

NOT A Fund I'd rely on their insurance to pay out
Qsuper use the most despicable medical officers to avoid paying out the insurance you have paid for , probably for years. Their claims managers will fight you every inch and make the claims progress as miserable as possible. Don't be surprised if they want a second opinion if an insured member dies, they are likely to have one if their very suspect independent medical offer a second opinion in an effort to delay the claim.
Expect the claim payment time to be in the order of 3 to 5 years for any reason
Uncaring and unsympathetic fund
Promised to pay out a percentage early months ago to help my brother and his terminally ill wife help with escalating medical costs and other bills but 3 weeks after her death and with Christmas fast approaching they have still not released any money and my brother has been so stressed out trying to deal with this...shame shame shame Q Super

effective 1/7/17 you no longer have to have your superannuation with Q-Super.........
I can agree totally with everyone's complaints about Q Super as I suffered at the hands of most.
Are you all aware that effective 1/7/17 you no longer have to have your superannuation with Q-Super I think I may have been the first to transfer my super from Q-Super to Sunsuper where I had a previous account. Never once did I consider transferring Sunsuper to Q Super for all the reasons on this page. Get out now that you have the chance....

Insurances
I agree with another dissatisfied customers comments. Qsuper add insurances to your super fund and deduct the costs for this insurance from your funds without any authorisation. I believe if you want insurance you can apply. In addition to this, our advice from qsuper was very poor. Our statement of advice contained incorrect figures and so many other errors. Have left me so stressed and has left me with no confidence in financial advisers in general.
Heartless duplicate lies
Over 10 years of policy contributions and tragically need to claim income protection and TPD after a serious work injury. Totally unprofessional and deceitful in their management, with no goal of helping relieve financial stress, rather consistently attempting to drag out every single step, and the case managers brief for KPI's are to close the claim and force the policy holders through the tribunal process which takes years. Hopefully you will die or suicide in the meantime. As a union delegate of a major public service department I have seen this pattern of treatment for years taking its toll on the sick, injured and vulnerable. QSuper sleep like babies. No better than Workcover. Shame.
service
I have read the following review and cannot agree at all. I have had nothing but great service both on the phone and in person.
It must be the clients a the is nothing wrong with the service.
It seems like bloated public servants who have never had a real job complaining

Untrustworthy
Qsuper definitely do not have members interests at heart, they will debit money from your account at every opportunity, as another member mentioned they use their policy and procedures to rob members by forcing unwanted insurance onto members without confirmation or permission. They then proceed to bleed the account dry by deducting extremely high insurance premiums for as long as they can. Be very careful dealing with Qsuper, always check what they are telling you as they will intentionally mislead you so they can extract as much money out of the account as they can. Thankfully Queenslanders now have the option to use other super funds, I switched as soon as I could and will never use them again.

My partner hasn't been able to work for over 2 years now resulting to having to live off new start . She put in for her tpd claim she has no discs in her lower back and has been told by her specialist she will not get a clearance to return to work. Even though her specialist has classed her permanently disabled and unable to work as well as her doctor she has been declined her claim and told she can work as a telemarketer for a few hours a week . Absolute crap .
They paid doctors and specialist who work for them to write reports to say she can work and they also submitted reports to the member delegate from a woman that my partner never met nor was told about at all. It has now been passed on to lawyers . These case manager's are all crooks. They chose what to use and what not to use when making a decision . We had her doctor her specialist and a psychologist all on her side saying she can't ever work again . They didn't even use the psychologists report .
Anyone going for a tpd claim do yourself a favour and go straight through a lawyer I wish we did that from the start it would have saved us so much time . If q super don't have to pay you they bloody won't no matter the situation they will find a way not to pay you .
