Terrible personal loan ever

RAA products are terrible. Recently I have applied a personal loan with RAA finance. Even though I have a strong financial status they rejected the application saying that I have a house mortgage to pay. She did not explain the rationale behind the reason and got angry when I started questioning the reasons.
I have cancelled my insurance with them after this incident and I am sad that I have my credit file inquiry with no reason.
Beware of their finance product and that deceiving customers. I do not recommend any of their product.

Competent serviceman

i had to call road service at Rose Park on 15 October at about 4,30 pm
The mechanic arrived on time and could not have been more polite , friendly and helpful.
He is an absolute credit to RAA and I hope he is recognised for it.
i would not hesitate to employ him if I was in business Show details

Absolute life saver

Car broke down in Alice Springs on a trip. All I can say is the RAA made this horrid experience far better. Getting a premium membership is well worth the cost! My car was sent back to Adelaide, 2 nights accommodation covered and basically everything I needed was covered. Everyone has been an absolute pleasure to deal with and helpful. While my trip was ruined, the RAA came to the rescue. Show details

Road assistance

My classic car lost 4 out of 5 wheels nuts while on the road in Strathalbyn today, and the assistance I got from the road service team was incredible. They replaced some studs and got my car onto a tow truck without any damage and transported it safely home to Strathalbyn. Much appreciated and job well done .It pays to have RAA membership they are there to help when you need them

Rubbish batteries

Their $175 battery (now $183) with a 2 year warranty, lasted 2 years, 1 month and 3 days. I gave them a call and asked them if there was any leeway with the warranty and was advised no such luck. A Marshal battery with a 42 month warranty costs $226 .... do the maths. Not happy RAA. Show details

Arrogant customer service. Never take roadside assist. Absolute nightmare & waste of money

My car had a flat Tyre. My wife and me had a joint account. RAA wouldn't come out to repair just because my wife called for the job. I was standing next to her and still they telling weird excuses to sail us away. I managed to change tyre by myself. Then and there on the spot cancelled membership and also all insurances I was with RAA. They gave no value for my 5 yrs of membership paid. If they don't care about what I pay for, I am least bothered to pay them for nothing. Don't plan to celebrate Christmas with my money. Go to hell and beg. That is much more decent than pinching from our pockets.  Show details

Flat RAA Battery

My sister has been an raa member for more than 50 years we were out for a catch up and her Holden cruse had a flat battery the raa battery which was replacement under warranty was 2years 4month needed replacement again so she paid $225 for new battery and instructed to go for a long drive once a week which for a 75 year old pensioner means more cost to her living expenses etc.
Surely in 2019 a RAA should last longer than 2years 4months especially after More than 50years membership Show details

Generally good - but need to come out of the dark ages

Although I have generally had only good service with RAA, it is disappointing that their paperwork only gives a phone and fax number for contact - No email address. I replied to one of their emails only to have it bounce back as incorrect. I then had to phone, wait on hold for an operator, and explain the whole situation. Would have been far easier and quicker to email - come on RAA, get with the times. ps Your online standard email forms located on your website are not suitable for what I had to send and the address they go to is not visible. Show details

Fantastic service

We are both premium members and live in the South East. Last Sunday we were in Adelaide's CBD when horrible noises came from the engine area. We had to be home that day and the franchise dealers were shut. We rang RAA and luckily they weren't busy and a mechanic turned up in less than an hour. He diagnosed a faulty coil on cylinder #1, advised us to go to REPCO and buy one. We did that and called again and another mechanic came and changed it promptly and we were on our way. Both mechanics were friendly and helpful and got us going. We hadn't used roadside assist for many years however this confirms that it is worth it. Thanks RAA. Show details

Horrible customer service

I have had absolutely disgusting customer service from Meredith in South Australia's office, and I truly want to warn anyone who is having trouble with RAA to ensure they do not deal with her. Long story short - she is inconsiderate, unkind and not understanding whatsoever. Luckily they have other staff like Amanda who actually listen to the customers. Show details

RAA approved repairer questionable ethics

My daughter's car just had a most extraordinary expensive oil change and air-con re-gas at Auto Masters. $700+ and now the sump plug leaks everywhere. The car is worse off and her savings are worse off all under the endorsement of the magnificent RAA. I love the RAA but this is ridiculous.

Do not buy RAA battery. They design to fail just after two years!!!!

Bought a battery at the end of March 2015 and had it fail on June 2017. The last battery that was purchase not from RAA lasted 5 years. Try to buy battery that has warranty of at least 3 years.

Service good but don't buy their batteries

I have no issues with the promptness and quality of the RAA road service at all. However, I've just had to replace a battery that was only put in the car just over two years ago (and cost $200 to do), which completely died without warning and was unrecoverable. The battery is only a few months out of warranty but RAA said there is nothing they can do about it. So I've had to pay another $200 for another new one. Battery was so cactus that the car couldn't even be jump started so I couldn't go and buy a good quality one from another store. The last battery I had, from a reputable company, lasted me just over 4 years.

Outstanding Help from RAA Broken Hill

I departed Broken Hill in the morning for Adelaide but a fuel problem 130km's out had me parked on the side of the road. After contacting the RAA road service, a tow was arranged from Broken Hill. After a long day I finally made it back with the tow to Broken Hill around 6.00pm, where I was delighted to be greeted by the RAA mechanic. He kept the shop open just for me, and after a new battery and some expert bleeding of diesel fuel lines, he had me running again in around 20mins. flat ! I left again for Adelaide an hour later and made it home for work the next day.......so grateful for the professional, friendly and helpful road service at Broken Hill. These guys were terrific - Thank You !

Service great, batteries awful

The road service is wonderful, but I should have listened to the people on the Whirlpool forum. RAA batteries really are apparently designed to fail just after the warranty period. Two years is not enough for a battery to last, especially with a low mileage car. Plus, they advertise the best prices, great quality and service, and they'll come to your house to make it easy . What they don't say is that will count as a service call out even if your car is working fine. So by all means sign up, but avoid their terrible batteries.

RAA to the rescue

On the road with the caravan and broke down in Wilcannia NSW. Called the RAA and thank god for premium cover !!! They recovered my car and caravan to broken hill, paid for 4 nights accommodation and provided a hire car. How anyone can travel in Australia without this amazing cover in unbelievable. I crib every year at the cost but it only takes one traumatic breakdown in the middle of nowhere to realise its true value. Thank you RAA
