Been with this insurance company for 3 years. I had a accident and call roadside department to get my car towed. Told the lady who answered that I my daughter had an accident and we were insured through them and we needed a tow truck to pick up the car because she (my daughter) hit a kangaroo. The operator asked three times if the car was drivable, which I already said answer no to. On the 3rd time I told her “my daughter just hit a kangaroo in a small car the windscreen is smashed the car is absolutely not safe to drive”. She finally placed m...e through to a towing company and cut me off because during my question which was “will a claims manager contact me about the car. Anyway I had to ring them myself the next day to put a claim through. I always had to contact them, they never contacted me first and I’m not a pushy person. Also I lose my no claim bonus even though she (my daughter) wasn’t at fault. And the repair place has had my car now for almost a month....clearly I’m not impressed at all. The company is all sweet when they want your business but go to make a claim and we’ll get treated like crap.
RAC is no longer a good insurer.
I recently asked why my premium had gone up more than 20%, but I was met with an irrelevant scripted response, tetchy staff and misinformation. Go elsewhere. RAC has become so impressed by its own non-insurance products, such as the newsletter and discounts, that it's forgotten that its an insurer with clients who have an option to go elsewhere. So we did.
Really good customer service
After crashing with someone I found that dealing with the RAC was a relatively easy process, they went through all the steps in recovering the money, and informing us me much as possible all the way.
I did find that some questions I had couldn't be answered, as different departments were calling me for the different stages of the claim, but on the whole it worked out. I received the agreed money for the car within a week, and the withheld amount was refunded after about a month. Their site is currently a little misleading where it suggests you need to pay a sum of money while the claim is being processed, while in reality, it's just withheld from the money they pay you.

I purchased a new car about 18 months ago and on the fly got it insured through who the car yard was advising after having my previous car insured through RAC for 9 years.
When the insurance came up for renewal I rang the insurance company I had it insured with and they told me they would no longer insure it due to a custom vinyl wrap installed (which it had when I bought it and they insured it then).
I rang the RAC to see if they would insure it as previously mentioned I had my last car insured through them. They had no issues with insuring...my vehicle with the vinyl wrap and aftermarket parts I told them it had so I insured it with them. Over the years I have used the roadside assistance a few times and the only claim I have made was for a cracked windscreen, which I wasn’t too happy about at the time having to pay a $200 excess after never making a claim in the previous 6-7 years of being insured through them. Overall though I find the customer service when dealing with the RAC quite good, they have helped me out with roadside assistance, the RAC card comes in handy for discounts to a lot of things around W.A.(fuel, tickets to events, accommodation etc) and yes I have even won a holiday to Borneo through their Horizons magazine. Keep on doing your thing for me and the rest of W.A. good stuff!!
Friendly, quick fix & competent
My car was back ended while my daughter was driving by another car which did minimal damage but still damage. I attended the accident rang RAC while there to notify of accident. Lady on end of phone was calm, professional and very helpful. I rang later and gave info regarding the accident and was advised of repairer close to home. Contacted repairer when home booked car in and 1 1/2 weeks later my car is repaired , back to me and looks same as prior to accident. I have been with RAC for many years and other than breakdowns I have not had to use them for an accident. I would highly recommend the RAC as the dealings I have had in all dealings especially my insurance claim was very professional, friendly and swift result.
I really like RAC Assistance, Am I crazy?
I've been with RAC for 2 years now and used the roadside assistance once. It was a good experience, they helped me a lot. And about the quality of the attendance, I lost my wallet last week, a guy found it, called the RAC to tell them to contact me that he was with my wallet. Even with this lucky, the RAC did a awesome job contacting me with the guy to recieve back my wallet. Haha surprising. That's why I like RAC.
It should be illegal to treat loyal customers like this...
Absolutely disgraceful to treat their loyal customers the way they do. I made a claim and was told 4 business days to assess my vehicle after being rear ended. An entire month had past and calling every single day of the week and complaining, to no avail. To this date they are still handling my claim with excuse after excuse and charging me a premium despite my refusal to do so. RAC are all liars, do not insure with them.
Worst company ever
Worst insurance company ever for making claims can't tell you straight. Time lines are not meet or even made no help no real customer service no effort to keep the customer stay away spend a little more for the respect and decent customer service nearly 2 years for a claim

Terrible costumer service
Terrible terrible costumer service. We have been with QBI for years and the only reason we changed everything to Rac was that we could pay monthly. First claim we did was rejected because both cars were reversing in the car park even though my car was hit on the side!!!
Price goes up every year
I have been getting fed up with my policy going up every year even that I haven’t made a claim. I have rung them about the increases and seeing I have been a member for years they tell me they give me a discount and I have told them they are making it hard for me to find the money to pay for my car insurance the first time I complained they said they had to talk to whoever while I held on she came back and said they would drop the price by a small amount. I think it was around $30 so stayed with them the next year my insurance went up over $100...and I rang again asking why and was told all insurances had gone up and said but I haven’t made a claim in years and I’m a single aged pensioner and it makes it hard how it keeps going up she said she will see what she could do and dropped the price by approximately $20. Then said not to ring up asking to drop the price as I won’t get it, I said that I had been with them years and they recon we get discount she said you do and I said I looked online and it was cheaper on my car with them she said just new policies got it. Something is very wrong with their car insurances and I’m thinking about cancelling my membership when it comes as it’s more money they get for nothing.
Walk away, whatever you do. This company is not worth the anguish.
We thought that we were getting a better deal because the policy was cheaper, but when a claim gets rejected for ridiculous reasons it ends up costing more in the end.
Terrible attitude to loyal customers. Expensive
I have been a loyal customer for 7 years for all my customers. Got involved in a hit and run accident last year. After providing all possible photographic evidence and spending hours filling police reports several times all I got in the end is:
"WA Police have advised they will no longer provide updates on their investigations and that you will be contacted direct if they are able to identify the at fault party. They cannot provide a time frame for this.
If WA Police advise you in the future that the details of the at fault party are available...

We have 2 cars and 2 houses policies with RAC, received a written quote few months back discount for "valued member" went straight to our junk mail so i called to accept the quote and the outcome ended up "no we stand for our quote" and I asked if we have quote from aami will the match or give us discount? "no we dont do match" and "yes it is ok you can move away"
Perfect ! I will move all our current policies away from you RAC as you wish!!
RAC I think you forgot that I’m the customer!
My parked car was hit by a school bus and RAC have made me jump through hoops to get the car repaired by a repairer of my choice.
I have had to get two seperate quotes and take it to the RAC assessment centre and then they have refused to get one panel fixed as it had been previously repaired - they say the repair was substandard and so now I have to get my previous insurer to assess and pay for that panel to be fixed.
They also said the first quote was too high and were going to try and get the repairer to lower the cost of the quote??

Made a pet claim which got rejected and I was treated like absolute crap. They didn't care if I had been with them for 1 month or 10 years.
After the poor customer service I went elsewhere for insurance and found out my car insurance was $50 a month cheaper elsewhere for the exact same policy.
Not only was I a loyal customer but they were ripping me off big time. RAC you should look after your long term customers a bit better!
Would have to be the best value insurance company in Australia. Do yourself a favor get a quote . I had a motorcycle stolen recently and I was amazed how easy and helpful they made things ....I'm a big fan thanks RAC

Will Never Insure With The RAC Again..
Had quite a bad accident and had to process a claim. Making the claim was swift and fairly straight forward. The operator was helpful and tow truck was there in a timely manner. Great first impression but unfortunately was down hill from there.
My car should've been a write off. Every one I showed the photos to agreed, including my Father Inlaw who is a mechanic. Even every single operator I spoke to said that should have been except for the assessing team.
The assessor I dealt with was a shifty, fast talking moron who said otherwise. He mu...st've been a sleazy car salesman in his previous life. Apparently could have the vehicle fixed for $1100 less than the agreed value on the policy. I explained to him that there is no way I would want to drive that vehicle ever again, knowing what the previous damage was. After a lot of 'gift of the gab' nonsense from him, I pushed through a cash settlement. He tried to low ball me for my wreck and when I insisted that I wanted it delivered to my home, tried to convince me to not have it back. "you don't want that sitting on your lawn" I think was one of his smooth tactics. Then after that conversation, I proceeded to contact the RAC and was told that they should be handling the claim??? I proceeded to call them every one of the five days as no one advised me of what was happening, especially the shady assessor. Also the 'WA' call centre was pointless. I might have well been talking to an overseas one as I got different information each phone call. Some polite and some rude. Depending on the day.

Absolute scammers. NEVER AGAIN. Absolute nightmare trying to post a legitimate claim, that ended with them favouring the other car to save them money, when I was parked!!!!

Worst customer service ever
My partner and myself are insured by the rac, (well my partner was cancelled) my partner missed two payments unaware as it was debited from a bank account she had forgotten to check on. They did not let us be aware of the missed payments so we could pay and she could continue to be insured, they cancelled her insurance and did not advise. My partner had a car accident. 2010 car unaware was uninsured by the rac. I had to use my savings to buy another car for my partner and the 2010 car ended up sold off to the wreckers. Might cancel, no, I will be cancelling my insurance also. Find a decent insurance company. Who actually care about customers
