I had hail damadge fixed by an racq recommended company phms. They scrached my car in the process and refuse to fix it deny liability, doctor paperworks and images to try to make you look like a fool. Over 5 months of stress , talking down to and pressure to finalize the claim , they finally fixed their mistake. Well most of it.
Going with other insurer as they raised my yearly by almost $100. My access was 2000 and the cost of hail repair was 2500.
RACQ is a Little wool Much Cry That's all.
I have using RACQ for Two years but It was a big turn off as i had a car accident three month ago still my car not been fixed properly and i complaint about repairer too.
I didn't have great experience at all.
RACQ take the word of an UNINSURED driver over their own long term customer.
We had a minor incident when an old 4wd swung out to the left before turning right at the lights, clipping our rear RH door and guard. No witnesses. The 4wd owner was not insured and denied culpability. RACQ decided to take his word over a +5year customer, to avoid paying our excess.
One of the worst choice I made to do my insurance. I will suggest everyone please don't do your insurance with RACQ. They are more than terrible if you make a claim.
RACQ penalise you for being a woman driver
RACQ penalise you for being a woman driver. That is disgusting! I have done several quotes at identical times, identical vehicles, identical details other than one male one female. The quote always comes out highest for female driver. I am not into woman’s lib but - When I called to query I was told it was because quotes were done seconds apart. No trying to requote or see the problem. Uncaring customer service. Absolutely disgusting!
Only good for road side assist
Go to another car insurance company. To much to mention but the service is bad and when not at fault accident the service with assessor is based on rubbish.
Don’t waste your time and monies with this appalling service.
Pathetic on hold wait times, no call back option or reply to email requests
Really poor service, we have tried to get our boat and car hail damage sorted, but they design the system too make life soooo difficult. Crazy people making decisions up top and the poor old person answering the phone to the punter is unsupported
Good if you like hold music
Tried to follow up on the progress of a car claim on the phone. Spent + 45 minutes on hold. I'm currently on hold again checking progress on the same claim. Been on hold for 20 minutes so far. Once this claim is complete, I am changing all my insurance away from RACQ.
Terrible customer service
The RACQ recommended repairer is the most unprofessional and extremely inefficient Repairer. Please NEVER EVER take you car to Gemini Wacol. They will frustrate you with with lies and broken promises. Cant understand why RACQ uses them as the preferred repairer. Unless they are dumped i am sorry to say RACQ will loose lots of customers.
If you have the patience to be pit on hold for up to 45 mins go ahead
Wrong description on my boat in regards to where it's kept voiding my insurance
Wrong description on my car trailer had to prove it to them. They put down a tandem car trailer as a pig trailer without tilt winch etc
Takes me 3 days to get a policy activated
Unable to operate a phone properly without disconnecting the line after the automated disclosure recordings
PS for all boat policy holders
Your boat has to be anchored down behind your fence line or in your garage
Loyalty means nothing
After 10+ years and a silver membership with them I had no policy for the year of 2020 they refuse to reinstate my membership level even though I now have a current policy. This will be my last year with them and most likely cancel this one as it is. I would never recommend RACQ to anyone ever again
Terrible - wouldn't ever go with them again.
I was with AAMI - and I thought RACQ might be a more 'premium' insurance should I ever require it.
BOY was I wrong.
My car was hit in early February - It's been 7 weeks of total stuff around. I was the third party - but we were both RACQ members. The repairer, MSR have totally stuffed me around - broken items that were not broken and been rude and dismissive. They also locked my keys in my car and I had to go unlock it for them. I requested my car NOT be repaired by MSR and it was moved to another repairer... and then returned. Against my...wishes and agreement I'd made with RACQ's own assessing supervisor. I've now wasted about a day and a half of time going back and forth dropping this car off, having to wait in MSR's office due to miscommunications/process issues regarding hire cars. NEVER EVER AGAIN. I'm removing all policies from RACQ.
high call volumes
RACQ is experiencing high call volumes since beginning of 2020, every time I call is a nightmare. Today 1 year later still the same problem. No only one time, I've called more than 10 times. Not worth the price.
2 strikes now and I'm leaving RACQ.
This is the 2nd major screw up that I've experienced with RACQ. The first one involved a truck hitting me and I got that ruled in the other drivers favour. Very poor outcome. This time I had a guy hit me and the car now now has a 6 week+ wait for a major part. Neither RACQ or the repairer bothered to contact to tell me this - I had to chase it up myself. Now I've been waiting over 6 days for a simple phone call from the assessor to tell me what's happening. They can't blame the bad weather - I asked for a call back before the rain hit QLD. Ther...e are endemic issues with RACQ insurance - skeleton thin staff, they've lumped all the admin on to the repairer and they are not supervising the repairer. They keep blaming COVID-19 for their inability to handle their workload but that hit 12 months ago so plenty of time to get their act together. I am off to get pricing from another insurer now...

Dishonest Insurance Company And One To Be Avoided At All Costs
First racq cancelled my insurance by mistake. I only found out months later after a hail storm wrote my new car off. Then it took weeks and weeks of arguing to get them to admit fault.
Fast forward 4 MONTHS and I am still no closer to getting the replacement vehicle, new for old as paid for. Still keep making excuses and providing dates that never end up eventuating.
DO NOT consider using a dishonest pack of liars as they've proven themselves to be for your insurance.
Use another reputable insurer and leave racq for break downs only. We a...lso had property insurance with racq and it was a similar terrible experience. Their attitude is that you're just another number and they will try wear you down as to pay as little as humanly possible. This is my experience and I hope that it can save others the same experience my family has had with racq.
