Unprofessional Amateurs Boasted By Ego !
THE RANDSTAD STAFF MEMBER SENDS ME A MESSAGE ASKING TO APPLY FOR AN - "Opportunities"!!!
I was recently contacted by a RANDSTAD STAFF MEMBER via LinkedIn.
I was told, they were "Currently I am recruiting for a successful global business".
I was told - " I am Seeking experienced Relationship and Business Development Professionals from within the Professional Services/SaaS space".
I was then told in writing - " From your LinkedIn profile I wanted to reach out to see if you would be open to having a discussion around this opport...
Waste of my time
Both times I went there it was a waste of my time, pretty much.
First time, I just had a general chat about me and my resume. Usual questions regarding my employment history, professional skills, expectations, etc. Didn’t hear back from anyone since then, except for the text notifications regarding new vacancies they signed me up for (and those were not suitable vacancies, in my opinion).
Second time, I sent them an absolutely new resume and spoke to a different lady which scheduled an interview with me on Friday morning. Thursday night, ...I get a call from the same lady I spoke to, asking if I’m still looking for a job (“Yes…”) and whether I would be interested to come for an interview (“I’m sorry but we already spoke with you and scheduled an interview tomorrow morning”). Ok, whatever. I come for an interview next morning, not expecting much but still giving it a go, hoping it would be worth my while. Soon enough, things start rubbing me the wrong way: 1) Apparently, I sent them my new resume (which I put a lot of time and effort into ON PURPOSE) for the position I thought we would be discussing. When the interviewer enters the room, I see that she still has my old resume in front of her. Duh.

Dear Miss Janelle Huang,
Re: Randstad (Australia)
I would like to express my extreme gratitude for your great assistance in getting selected to work in an organisation that I’ve been hoping and wishing to work with. A dream come true and Its all because of your expertise!
I could not be more thankful and pleased with the way you helped me. Your style is amazingly different (hats off)! My interview with you was very clear, concise and sweet. You’re detailed and direct. You even topped it up by sending me an email reiterating the key poi...nts discussed with me and the guidelines that will further assist me in getting a positive result on my next interview. Guess? I awesomely got selected for the role! in turn, we have established a great rapport. You gave 100% (or more due do overtime) hands on! You’re positively different amongst other job consultants out there. You’re overly committed! You made it a point, that our Communication ie. emails and calls were acknowledged as soon as. Not only you exceeds expectations but you genuinely CARES (she’s there with you every step)! Janelle, you are the best job consultant in the whole wide world! You made one of my dreams come true!
18+ years experience in the Contracting world
I have worked for quite a few agencies in Australia and the UK (10+) since 2000. I would rank Randstad in the top three (possibly in first place).
The service is professional, efficient and friendly.
People are people and having had a bad experience will want to broadcast it to the world. I prefer to deal with the organisation and talk with them about the experience and how we can resolve the problem and give them the opportunity to ensure it doesn't happen again.
Randstad are the first recruitment firm I recommend to any of my contra...ctors, even though I didn't have work with them. Recently I recommended Randstad to a colleague who was able to get work through them. If there ever is a problem, I have confidence that my consultant at Randstad will be able to resolve the issue for me in a prompt manner.
Lack of empathy
Randstad are a lot of young people who do not have any empathy for anyone when one of my parents was gravely ill.. Also I find if they put you in a dodgy employer and it does not work out - then you are blamed and get black balled. Bring back the Commonwealth Employment Service. They were a lot more help than most of these agencies these days.
Questionable Job Postings
I applied for a job through the Sydney office from an ad on Seek.com.
I missed a call, and called back leaving a message with no call returned, I called again later in the afternoon (3:30pm) and the rep sounded more interested in Friday drinks than speaking to me.
When i eventually got in contact with the rep the questions were really broad and not the kind of conversation you would expect with a recruiter when you apply for a specific role.
At the end of the call, i was informed by the rep that she would send me an email with all of t...he details re coming in for an interview with the recruiter at 2pm on the Monday. Come Monday morning I had still not received an email with details for the interview. I called again on Monday to not have the call returned and have still not heard from them two weeks later. I really question how genuine the opportunity advertised on seek actually was.
