Frustrating claims experience - Delay after delay after delay
Waiting over 2 months now to have my claim finalised and settled... with only delay after delay after delay trying to get this resolved:
- impossible to make a booking at the first hail inspection centre they referred me to
- had to wait 3 weeks for an available time at the second place
- heard nothing back after this for 3 weeks until I chased them to find out what was happening, only to be advised they hadn't received a report from the hail assessment place
- Contact them 2 weeks later to be informed they have received the report, and now I ...
Pay as you drive insurance is what you want
Why pay comprehensive insurance when you only drive 5000 kms annually? Pay as you drive will save you lot. Having been with Real Insurance for the last 10 years, I am very happy with their service

Been waiting nearly a month now for my Total loss claim. Very poor communication and have to wait 1-2 hours on the phone to only be told that i will have to wait longer for the team to assess the claim after I have sent all the documentation. No one has called me and have dad to follow up with every step.
Absolutely crap car insurance company
Most unorganised and pathetic car insurance company in Australia ....You think they'll look after you and your car when you make a claim for an accident but they don't. They tell you something else and do something else. And they don’t call you at all, you have to call and wait an hour to speak to someone if they don’t hang up on you.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go with them. Pay more and find someone better.
Spoke to someone in South Africa!
So I just got off the phone with 'Brian' which I didnt believe it was his real name. The call was the weirdest I'd ever made to any call centre. Whilst talking to 'Brian' the background noise was soooo LOUD! It was other people talking in the background so loud it was like they were on the phone call with us...then the people in the background were laughing so loud I could barely hear 'Brian' so I told 'Brian' I can barely hear him because of the background noise and he proceeds to tell me it's because they're very busy tonight on calls LOL of ...course I told 'Brian' they're not on calls and it sounds like a party inthe background which 'Brian' totally ignored my statement and gave me the quote of car insurance I was after. I then asked 'Brian' if they're based in Australia and he said 'no! We're in South Africa' then he asks me for my bank details which I didn't give as I began to become hesitant to do any business with this 'Brian' as I was worried it was a bogus company. If Real Insurance want to pull up my call it was made from Sydney Australia at 1759 today 14/05/19 and it was for a comp. car insurance quote for a Kia Grand Carnival 2009 Quote no. 241713390. It was the most unprofessional call centre I've ever had to deal with.
Pathetic service!! No response on either email or call for more than 3 weeks!!
Its been more than 3 weeks after the assessor has told me your car is a total loss and some one from the claims team would contact you. I have written several email, called up multiple times but unfortunate to not have a single response. This is pathetic service!!!!
Great value for peace of mind
This is my true experience with real insurance and I’ve not been solicited or paid to give this review.
I’ve been with real insurance for 4 years now and I’m very happy. Every year I get my insurance renewal letter I ring up and speak to a customer service staff to make sure and negotiate the best value and policy for my mums car. Always at the end of the call I’m happy and have peace of mind because the customer service staff empathises with me and ensures we get the best coverage and policy that suits our needs. Good to have road side assistance there was an incident where the car battery died it was good we got that service. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend real insurance. We’ve gotten very good value and service every year.

I have been with Real for 4 years. It was easy to set up and when calling to change details staff were always helpful and courteous. Actually got premium reduced. Win/win.
Not Good Enough
I have been waiting for three days for some acknowledgement firstly that i lodged a claim online and secondly for someone to contact me, hours on a phone listening to a recording does nothing to give me any confidence with this insurance company.Not
Pathetic payout after no fault car write off
How long is too long for a claim to be paid after my sons vehicle was written off with a no fault claim. It has been 6 weeks and still no word as to progress. There was a police report and charges to be laid against the other driver. Apparently the car was towed to a yard that does not do repairs and therefore could not prepare a quote as requested. A real insurance employee suggested they could tow it to another yard...1600 klms away, go figure. As his policy was to expire the following week after the accident he was told to pay for the next ...year as the claim becomes dead when the policy lapses. On the two occasions my son has phoned re the claim he has been placed on hold for no less than 30 minutes each time. Therefore he can not take the time out of work to make any further calls and is waiting on Real Insurance to contact him. I only hope that something is done soon to allow him to purchase another vehicle plus get his present 1 year payment reimbursed in full.

What's the difference? How is it that Real Insurance has such a poor customer rating while Seniors Insurance, also a Hollard brand, has such a high one?

your staff need training in how to send e-mails , and how to attach links to text messages . please resend the documents you claim never arrived , and I will return , signed , by next REGISTERED POST .
I received a quote to renew my insurance and it has gone up as it always does even if you never make a claim. This is just 3rd party, fire & theft for a 1999 car that is lucky to be worth $2000 and they insure it for up to $10,000. They said it would be cheaper if you pay annually instead of by the month to which i asked for the quote and they took around $9 off the premium...really? I had some other quotes which were cheaper and I asked could they do anything else to keep me as a customer and they said no.
I was just wondering why you expect your current customers to pay more for the same thing than a new customer?
You're absolutely right to ask questions. I wrote off a car in August and I was paying my comprehensive car insurance by the month. The insurance renewal was in June and Real Insurance deducted the next 10 months worth of premium (just over $1000). In other words, they charged me 10 months worth of insurance on a car that no longer exists. Look elsewhere for insurance and check the PDS very carefully to make sure that in the event you have to make a claim that they don't punish you! Don't think twice about this mob - move on!
