Unprofessional and very rude.
They inspected my car they lied about lights and and signals they have dismantled my whole back seats. They took pictures of the dismantle seats and the battery, this is against their policy to dismantle the car. Monopoly is a disaster there is no other choice because the CPV only accepts Redbook.
Questionable mechanical experience
Question the value of these reviews which are from questionable mechanics with limited experience.
The so called "mechanic" looking at the car i was looking to buy had to call somebody else to ask questions obviously had no idea what he was doing. Totally missed a service item on the car which would have added $1000 to me but not even mentioned in the report.
Waste of money
I recently had a used car inspected by RedBook Car Inspect and I was told it was in "near perfect condition" for it's age, with no visual faults or problems at all! The next day when I purchased the car I discovered that the passenger door lock didn't work when I tried to lock the doors. That was a $500 expense bill to have it repaired which I could of negotiated with the seller to repair it or reduce the cost of the sale price.
A few days later when I was getting a roadworthy inspection certificate to transfer the rego into my name, the insp...ecting mechanic asked me to come and have a look underneath the vehicle that was absolutely covered in engine oil due to a major oil leak from the oil sump. I then took the vehicle to my own mechanic to have the oil leak repaired which cost me another $1,200 for repairs. So I contacted the RedBook Car Inspect team and I was told (as per their Terms of Service) that they are not liable for any faults found on the vehicle after the inspecting mechanic has completed the job. Ok, so what's the point of paying a qualified mechanic to inspect a vehicle prior to purchase if I would need to be there to spot any faults that he missed?? What a joke! It would be much safer to have a vehicle inspected thoroughly by a local mechanic. It might only cost another $50-$100, but at least it will help you make a decision if the car is worth buying or not, or be able to negotiate a discounted price with the seller to pay for the necessary repairs.
Very poor service and zero communication
Booked an urgent pre purchase inspection (after 3 days zero communication). After numerous calls finally cancelled the job. Advised it will take a week for a refund. All staff had zero care and zero follow up calls. Just go to NRMA or MTA don't waste time or money.
Had booked an inspection on a 2nd hand car for my Daughter's birthday present only to be left high and dry at the very last minute by these guys. They didn't even bother to call me and let me know they were no longer able to make it, it was the seller of the car who told me. I then called and spoke to the state manager who told me "these things happen"!! I'm now going to have a really disappointed Daughter :( Absolutely useless!!!

I’ll save my self next time and fly out in person
Let me keep it simple. Requested an RS3 to be inspected in QLD as I’m in WA, car is valued at 60k AUD.
Report comes back all good with an average of 4/5 with no major issues.
Car arrived, picked up and first start I hear a rattle and a noise from the engine bay. After further investigation turns out the alternator was out. Failed to be recognised by their “highly qualified mechanic” Not only that I get told that he is shocked that the rs3 had the wider wheels at the front if only he did a tiny bit of search to see the plate on the door statin...
pre-purchase inspection miss easy noticable issue, and they don’t even feel sorry or take any responsibility
I bought my car 2 weeks ago based on the 4 stars report that redbook rated. I brought my car to Adrian Brien for car service days before, turned out there is a significant rust stain caused by water pump leaking and lead to a repair that cost me about $1400. To be honest, if redbook is professional enough to notice this big stain, I would not have purchased this car, or at least not to buy at the paid price.
I have contacted redbook right after the service. And they replied that RedBook Inspect will not be responsible for any defects that are ...latent discovered which were not visually apparent during the inspection. However, The stain is obviously visually apparent, according to the Car service professional mechanic. The photo of the stain was taken when the pump was attached to the engine inside of the engine bay prior to it being removed. it did not require to remove any parts or components to see the stain and sure its something easy enough to catch the mechanic's eyes. Redbook also claim that water pump is not included in the service area. I was not expecting a throughout inspection of the water pump as an individual part itself, but instead, the rust as shown in the picture was clearly an obvious defect as a part of the mechanical assessment, which should've been easily picked up by their 'professional inspection team'. Unless the inspector is not as professional as the website described, which obviously they are not. And, the pump was attached to the engine inside of the engine bay. Engine is inclusive right?
Writing false claims on report
A potential buyer sent Redbooks to inspect my vehicle.
The guy inspected the car and said for its age it's in great condition. As I will be supplying a RWC for the potential buyer any issues that arise I will have rectify and keep the buyer in the loop.
My car has never leaked oil in the 5 years i have had it. He spotted some old oil marks on the bottom of the engine and stated on the report " oil leaks possibly unroadworthy" I put my 4 kids in my car and always look after it.
Literally if its pressure washed and cleaned there would be nothing there.
Now potential buyer may not go thru with the purchase of my vehicle.
Good work redbook keep up the great work.
Car has been taken off road by manufacturer after preinspection purchase by Red book.!!!!
We had a pre inspection purchase performed by this company. Omg where do I start. So a warning light was on dash prior to purchase. We questioned this . We were told it was a number plate light defect. However when report came through nothing was reported on the paperwork. The car was noted as fine with no defects or problems. We trusted the report.
We purchased this car on the report offered by red book inspect. No faults it said. A few days later we decided to take this to another mechanic to check the warning light. Within 5 minutes he adv...ised us there were 4 issues with the car, 2 that were resolved with a simple service and the other 2 could not be cleared. We were told to take the car to the manufacturer. Next day we are at the manufacturer, who has removed this car off the road as it is not roadworthy (even though it had a certificate), and a major technical problem with the engine. It is deemed unsafe to drive. Red book have denied any liability and say that there was no warning lights at the time, but the manufacturer are advising they were there ( as we know they were) and should have been picked up in a preinspection. So my advice ? Do not use this company, they do not know what they are doing. Red books advice is to get our warranty from the dealer but had the inspection been performed correctly in the first place , we would not need to get any warranty from anyone as we would never had purchased. Stay clear from this company. They are incompetent.
Do not trust this company
I was in the middle of buying a car got a pre vehicle inspection from red book the guys went out to the car ( [Name Removed] )he assessed the car I got the report after we got the report we spoke on the phone about the report and we got fixed the things he had found in the report to purchase the car after we purchase the car found other issues that he didn’t pick up on I don’t know if he rushed the whole point of getting this inspection that cost money is to do the job right in the first place and not having to go thru fair trading double chec...k there work get second opinion so you don’t have to go thru with what I’m going thru also the mangement was not very helpful I have been sending emails his so blunt they are trying to get out of this they know that he has stuffed up that’s why they are parming me off I still can’t believe what has happened it’s a nightmare
Misleading and not worth the money
Purchased a motor vehicle from a dealer with a redbook inspection .
The Vehicle scored 4 out 5 . Every panel had deep scratches 2 lights were not working had 2 oil leaks . Showed my Real mechanic the supplied photos and found out the scan tool used cost $150 on EBay. Redbook tried to weasel out of all complaints. Don't bother getting inspection done . The worst experience I've ever had, disgusting company
Very poor service
I rang to enquire about the Redbook but due to the fact the receptionist spoke so fast and quietly I requested that she repeat all the she stated a bit slower and a little louder so that I could comprehend what she had initially said, with that she told me I was rude and abruptly hung up.
If the conversation has been recorded feel free to listen and please inform me of any wrong doing. If that is a personalised service I now understand why so many places go to the computerised systems.
Very poor service from the first point of contact of this company.

Not worth a penny
I had done a Redbook inspection before buying my used Kia Carnival from a dealer in Sydney on Friday 22 Nov, 2019. The inspector gave a nice report with lots of photos . I thought I had a peace of mind after getting the vehicle inspected through them. In my first drive just within a few days of the purchase the vehicle began emanating thick smoke and the vehicle engine heated up . There was a severe burning smell. I took it to the dealer and the dealer to my horror told me that the vehicle had a major engine fault. I wasted 270 AUD and got a f...alse assurance that the vehicle was "Mechanically ok" . To those buying used cars please be aware that you are taking a risk by going for a used car and going for this company inspection will give you no extra assurance or piece of mind . They just produce a nice report which might turn our completely false. I had a horrid time and faced a lot of embarrassment with the vehicle
Inspection on my car
Buyer text me later saying the inspector thinks the jeep has rust when clearly the inner area of fender area was painted black to keep rust away as I cut the fenders for my jeep wrangler. Also inspector thinks jeep has been painted underside when clearly I never touched it. Also inspector thinks their is few leaks doesn't mention what part .I have never seen any oil drops on the floor or even my mechanic mention about any leaks . I lost a sale when the jeep has been maintained with all the services done by logbook. Inspector told we will go for a ride later when I checked outside he took the jeep by himself for a drive without even telling me. What a joke and unprofessional thing to do.
They have no idea
Had an inspection done on a concours condition show car which has only done a few thousand kms since total rebuild and they rated it down with stupid comments like "normal wear evident for it's age" when the components are virtually brand new. The interior is absolutely immaculate but they say "interior trims, carpet and roof lining showing general wear including scuffs, marks, minor stains and tears consistent with the age and mileage". WTH! the interior is like it just rolled off the production line and has won many Concours awards for being ...so. Says the "air cond is cool but not cold, might require service". It just had a service with a new compressor installed and is working perfectly. Seriously, this is a 40 year old British classic not a Mazda CX5. What was this moron expecting? And it goes on and on. I am sorry but this organization is a money grabbing risk adverse business with no care for what they say. If fact, they don't really say anything. It's all cut and paste out of a template to pump out a 46 page document to look like you're getting value when in fact they are diddling the buyer and the seller. I'm sure it comes down to the individual inspector but I would stay away from [name removed] in Brisbane.
Rubbish Redbook inspection
My customer (we are a national chain tyre store) purchased an Audi A4 from NSW via Carsales.com. As he lives in WA he thought it prudent to pay the extra for a mechanical inspection. When he brought the car to us for a wheel alignment, we discovered that all the tyres on the car were the wrong size and were between 8 and 11 years old. The only remark on the Redbook inspection report was that the rear tyres had some cracks in them. There was no mention of all the tyres being old and of the wrong size. The placarded tyre size was 205/55R16, but ...the front tyres were 215/55R16 and the rears 225/50R16. In addition, the steering rack boot was clearly split and there was evidence of significant oil leaks from the engine. Finally, the plastic rear window in the convertible soft top was so badly crazed as to be non-transparent. Neither the incorrect tyre sizes, tyre ages or the other obvious mechanical faults were mentioned on the Redbook report. My customer was clearly charged for a totally worthless report. If this is the business model being used by Carsales then they are clearly cheating their customers, so we suggest that you be very cautious in using their services.
Passed the test through another agent but not with Redbook service Southport. The guy look sleepy, unexperienced and not happy to be in that position. Ever again! $60 wasted. Paid $20 more to another place and got my COI. Not with these guys EVER AGAIN.
Questions & Answers
Hi i have bought an imported car. They gave me RWC but doesnt seem to have log book or service history. Can I go to Uber redbook inspection without it ?
RedBook I.RedBook Inspect
Thanks for getting in touch. We can complete an Uber inspection without a logbook but you will need to ensure the imported vehicle has an Australian compliance plate and is rated by ANCAP with a 5 star safety rating.
Redbook Inspect Team
Hi, is there any difference with redbook inspection for uber, ola and didi? What if I just go through uber inspection and use it for Ola and Didi as well ?
Hi you get a inspection from them and they will send to Uber and they will send you a copy of inspection and then update your details on Didi& Ola
RedBook I.RedBook Inspect
Thanks for getting in touch.
There are slight differences between the rideshare inspection report. If you choose to complete an Uber inspection we will send the report directly to Uber and yourself which you can then submit to the other rideshares should they accept it.
Redbook Inspect Team
Bought new car. Do I still need a Redbook inspection for Uber?? Thanks
RedBook I.RedBook Inspect
Thanks for getting in touch.
Uber will require an inspection on all vehicles, regardless of age in Victoria. However, other states will have a short amount of time where an inspection will not be required on a new vehicle. These timeframes can be checked directly through Uber's support team.
Kind regards, The RedBook Inspect team.
