Incorrect and lack of knowledge
The car I was having inspected came back with that the aircon was working however it was not working at all I purchased the car after they said it was working and had to get the whole thing replaced. It was then noted that there was "fluid leaking" in the engine bay photos were supplied but no details as simple as if it was water or oil or where the fluid was or leaking onto (not leaking from, I understand they arnt that specific)
Feels like I wasted my money and when contacting the company about those issues they essentially said "everything was consistent with the cars milage" it was a diesel 2010 with 240k km. If they tested and said something worked I'd think that it would work

Redbook unlikely to pick up some potential mechanical failures, which can be costly!
Warning: do not rely on redbook inspection for anything mechanical that cannot be clearly seen - their inspections are (as they disclaim) visual only - e.G. They are unlikely to pick up such important things as brakes about to fail (as in my case costing me $1,300 extra) and will disclaim it in any case, so unless it's falling apart at time of inspection, such checks are pretty much useless.
I had a full inspection report done by Redbook and a week later both sets of brakes failed or needed replacing on my vehicle.

port that "re-inspection is required" and that it was only a visual inspection. As a consumer expecting their professional opinion to protect me from significant additional costs, I question the value in a visual inspection at all. I could have done the same and come to the same conclusions as a layman. Most things in their report relating to the condition of the vehicle are cosmetic and can be carried out by a layman.1 comment

Takes no responsibility for quality of inspection.
Paid for inspection, they missed more than one major damage to interior of car, and when contacted suggested that I could have done that damage, which is ridiculous. Inferior inspection and non-existent customer service. Told me that I needed to inspect the car, wasn't that why I paid them?

Misses the big ticket items
The inspection was timely, the reporting fast and the inspector was a nice guy willing to spend time chatting. Cosmetic issues were identified. BUT don't expect this report to identify any big ticket items. They explicitly state that they don't evaluate the condition of the engine / transmission / clutch etc. The thrust bearing failed on the vehicle I had inspected 1500kms after purchase so I was up for $1575 in repairs within the first month. When I raised this with Redbook their response was to check their fine print. I will not use thi...Read more
s service again and find a mechanic that specializes in the vehicle that I'm purchasing. That will give me a fighting chance to identify the big ticket items prior to purchase. I'd suggest people considering using Redbook and the like do the same and spend some time identifying cosmetic issues themselves.1 comment

Very basic inspection, not great that my car didn’t make it on the way back home with my kids either - came back with a $2389 repair bill - Go elsewhere

Better to take it to a proper workshop
I was the seller of my car (also an automotive technician). Buyer organised redbook to inspect. I was initially looking forward to the inspection, as i have a reputation to uphold and keep my vehicle in good shape.
Rebook fabricated faults to appear as though they had done a good job. (1- Said the turbo wastegate was vented to atmosphere, but car has a totally stock turbo, dump pipe and wastegate) 2- totally missed various dents i had already told the buyer about. 3- was not able to find the battery, so i had to show him how. 4- said the air c...Read more

Hi i have bought an imported car. They gave me RWC but doesnt seem to have log book or service history. Can I go to Uber redbook inspection without it ?
1 answer

Hi Sebeeka,
Thanks for getting in touch. We can complete an Uber inspection without a logbook but you will need to ensure the imported vehicle has an Australian compliance plate and is rated by ANCAP with a 5 star safety rating.
Kind Regards,

Hi, is there any difference with redbook inspection for uber, ola and didi? What if I just go through uber inspection and use it for Ola and Didi as well ?

Hi you get a inspection from them and they will send to Uber and they will send you a copy of inspection and then update your details on Didi& Ola

Hi Muhammad,
Thanks for getting in touch.
There are slight differences between the rideshare inspection report. If you choose to complete an Uber inspection we will send the report directly to Uber and yourself which you can then submit to the other rideshares should they accept it.
Kind Regards,
Redbook Inspect Team

Bought new car. Do I still need a Redbook inspection for Uber?? Thanks

Hi There,
Thanks for getting in touch.
Uber will require an inspection on all vehicles, regardless of age in Victoria. However, other states will have a short amount of time where an inspection will not be required on a new vehicle. These timeframes can be checked directly through Uber's support team.
Kind regards, The RedBook Inspect team.
