Great bikes
I have bought two bikes from Reid, one Reid Falco and one Reid Xenon. I have been using them for more than 2 years and I am extremely satisfied. They work perfectly and they were very cheap.

Good value
Bought a Reid Urban x2 for commuting, i live on the second floor of a unit block with no lift so i wanted something that wasn't going to be too heavy to carry up. Also didn't want to buy something cheap and nasty which would make me not want to cycle.
Im new to cycling and so im probably not the best person to make the following comments. I am very picky and didnt like a few minor things on the bike. Did a few personal tweaks, tighten the brakes and twist the handle bar grips. But overall im very happy with the bike.
Had issues with the g...
Read moreear changes, pretty sure it was related to the original install of the derailleur and took it back. The store seems to have been really busy everytime i was up there, when i took it back they did fix it that afternoon in an hour although the tech seemed a bit reluctan. But in his defense no-one had told him i was dropping past, it was mid afternoon on the weekend and it looked like the poor chap had two other bikes he was already working on. Also I have to say i ordered the bike a week before Christmas and was amazed they got it ready, as they had no stock at the store. so i was quite impressed about that. Store staff were friendly, and they don't try to sell you everything under the sun, although the Sydney store doesn't have a massive range of things.Stef the MusNorth Queensland, QLD

Reid Harrier
I required a commuter bike and wanted to keep the cost down so received my Reid Harrier, delivered to North Queensland for $268. For the money it was great value, rolls well, fast, a reasonable soft ride for 25 tyres. Seems to be reasonably bullet proof. I do a lot of road cycling as well and must say I'm impressed with the new purchase

Amazing calue for money & exceptional customer service
Ordered the Reid X-trail for our teen son yesterday, got an email this morning to say it’s ready! Picked it up at the Newtown store a couple of hrs ago & experienced exceptional customer service (unfortunately didn’t get the employees name). Not only did he install a drink bottle holder we purchased, but also threw in a bike lock & pump for free. We were also told to bring the bike back for a service in 3 months time as we are entitled to 2 free services! Nice surprise!
The bike itself is FANTASTIC! It looks incredible & handles beautifully, n...

Abusive staff!!!
What a mistake I made purchasing through Reid Cycles...
Phone centre staff are abusive, arrogant, belittling, condescending and simply put.. rude...
Spent $700 on them and told me my 15 years putting a bike together is nothing compared to their 27 and that I should get a new job and some training... wouldn't even replace a faulty chain..
When I find a way to formally report specific persons and the company I will be.

Great Service, Great Bike ... so far
I see there are a lot of negative reviews on REID. I own a Cannondale and a custom GTR from Germany, which were trashed by people borrowing them. I was returning from a meeting and noticed the Adelaide REID store and popped in for a look. Whilst the components are not the same standard as on the other two, they are still quality (shimano etc). I found the sales staff to be very helpful and not pushing to sell me the most expensive model, but one which was fit for purpose and after riding it, I find it to be nearly as good as the other two bikes...
Read more at a cost much cheaper than repairing them. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews, but I had a very positive experience from the Adelaide store and would return there. Hopefully the reviews are incorrect and the warranty and included servicing will be honoured. I suspect it's how you treat some sales people as to the standard of service you get.patrick

Reid must honour their 12 month free service promise
Hundreds of people in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth have bought bikes from Reid Cycles with the promise they would provide 12 months free service, only to find the stores closed weeks later and the company refusing to honour their commitment. Reid continued to advertise the service commitment knowing they were closing these stores, a breach of consumer laws in all states. I bought two bikes from their Sydney store in April and they closed their doors two weeks later, and all Reid will do is say bad luck. I have already had to spend $90 to replace ...
Read morea faulty wheel, and expect to spend hundreds more. I am not going to accept this rip off. I am proceeding with a complaint through the consumer tribunal (http://www.ncat.nsw.gov.au/Pages/cc/Divisions/consumer_claims.aspx), I urge all those who have had the same experience to join me. I am demanding the Reid agree to pay for all service needed for the bikes I bought, to be provided by the bike shop of my choice (people who aren't shonks).TahnSydney

Reid Cycles refuse to honour included servicing
I purchased a Reid Cycles bike as the sales assistant emphasised the purchase price included 12 months of servicing. Reid Cycles recently closed their Sydney store and failed to inform customers. Rather than put in place arrangements, they are refusing honour any servicing claims.
As seems to be the trend with reviews on here, Reid Cycles offer decent bikes but ABYSMAL customer service.

Worst customer service ever.
Over charged me and refuse to refund my money, ignore any further responses, responses received have been arrogant and rude. Be warned, avoid at all costs. Would not recommend them to my worst enemy's streak stained jock strap.

Inferior parts and rushed construction
The bicycles are cheap and 'in style', but be prepared to add 100 dollars to the price to get the bike into good condition. The tubes on my first purchase a couple of years ago punctured almost immediately, the chain broke and the tape lining the inner wheels to 'protect' the inner tube was so poor that a bike mechanic at another store I found (after trying a couple of others who failed to fix the underlying issue) exclaimed in shock that someone would happily sell something so shoddy. He fixed it up well and I haven't had an issue with it sinc...
Read moree. Now, on my second purchase having decided that the first might have just been an aberration, the rear tube punctured on my second ride! A fault of the tape lining the inner wheel, no doubt. I sighed, "Oh well, here we go again." This time, however, the wheels are fixed to the frame with cheap nuts made of a metal so malleable that I can't get the last one off. The bloody thing is nearly round. I'll fix it somehow, but if you're buying a bike from them check it over thoroughly, maybe ask them to loosen the bolts just so you know they'll come off. Check the chain, make sure the wheels and chain rings aren't buckled and be prepared for trouble. Update: I took the bike to the hardware store and they managed to get the nut of with a tool similar to a multi-grip. The fault turned out to be with the tube. There's a fine hole along an irregular seam at a point where the tube 'dips' for lack of a better word. I can't say I've ever seen a tube with such a defect before. Cheap, cheap.HarveySydney

Unpleasant customer service.
in the last week
These guys were so rude. I ordered a bike for my daughter and it arrived as ordered but there was damage to the insert for the handle bars. Rang to see if I could get it fixed for Xmas. Was told to go to my local bike store to sort it out! And then when I was told that a spare could be ordered but at charge - I made a comment about the fee and was rudely told that i should be charged, as I probably made the damage from 'hammering it in'. Thankfully the team at Wooly's Wheels in Paddigton were so nice and. sorted it out on th...

5 stars to the bicycle - 0 stars to the people who work for REID (Sydney)
Picked up the brand new bike, had 2 major issues while riding back home. I went back to the shop the same day, but the mechanics did not give damn. I fixed the bike myself. Wrote to REID about the issue, no damn was given.
I find it really funny as I went to the GIANT shop (Clarence Street) for a consultation, while speaking to the guys at the workshop, I was told that the mechanics at REID are not famous to be up there.
By the way, the bicycles are actually really good for the price you pay!

It is almost one month now we haven't received cycle
We have ordered two cycles. It is almost one month over. We got one cycle and store was quite confident of getting us cycle within one week. It is now more than 3 weeks we haven't received.
Moreover every time we have to call them, they are not even courteous enough to give follow up call.
Every day my wife has to spend almost 7 dollars on transport, we deserve compensation and when we asked for it, he was very blunt in saying he has given us the best deal. We spent almost 120 AUD on transport so far which we could have saved if we purchased ...

I got cycle finally but it does not change my review. I would have appreciated if they were apologetic about the whole scenario. I do deserve compensation for their miss but forget about compensation ...
Read morethey are not even apologetic about situation. As stated earlier they never called me up and never sent me message we had to call them and we were told it is ready since 1 week. Unfortunately I have to leave with them but I heard good about a different company. It might be worth spending few bucks extra and go with them.Find out how Reid Cycles compares to other Bike Shops

Love my bike
I bought my Reid Falco Advanced six months ago from the Perth store. Since then I have clocked up hundreds of kms on it and its never broken a sweat. For $700 it came with Shimano 105 gearing - couldn't get better value for money anywhere. I have taken it for servicing several times (which was free) and the staff have been sensational. As a newbie cyclist when I bought this I planned to go buy a fancy more expensive brand bike if I enjoyed cycling but now I'm looking into one of the Vantage series Reid bikes just for the value for money and service that comes with it. Would recommend 10/10.

Return Customer, yet another quality product and brilliant service
I've been a customer of Reid for a number of years now, having purchased by first Harrier Fixie at the Coorparoo, QLD store. The bike served me well as a casual cruiser, and re-ignited the childhood obsession I had with cycling.
I've taken to restoring old Repco and Malvern Star road bikes in recent times, and I am a regular customer of the Reid Fortitude Valley store. The staff there are always very knowledgeable, and more than happy to help out with recommending parts to fit my old cro-moly frames that are some 30 years old. They've also s...
Read moreorted me out with components for a full fixie conversion of an old frame I sourced, and they stock very well priced tools and grease/chain lube/consumables. Now I've utilised Reid's online store, and suffice to say the service is just as fantastic as in-store. I took advantage of their recent sale and purchased a Reid Aquila STI road bike, figuring it was time to step in to a more modern road bike. The bike itself is brilliant for the money, and whilst it incorporates Tourney and Claris entry and lower-level Shimano components, the value for money and ease of assembly is unbeatable. It was shipped from their Melbourne warehouse to Brisbane in a mere 2 days, and I've just finished my first ride on the bike. I fitted some Continental puncture-resistant tyres in place of the Kendas out of personal choice, but I'm very happy with what I've received. I'm about to try mountain biking, and currently considering their range. No doubt I'll also look at stepping into a higher end bike in the future, and Reid will be my first stop off. Keep it up guys, cheers.HBadger

Great Product. Service could be better.
I was looking to replace my aging dual suspension Mountain Bike. I posted on some MTB forums and was given a link to the Reid Solo 360 Hard Tail Mountain Bike.
I did some research on the Solo 360, the specification looked great, XT gear throughout and internally routed cables caught my attention. I have ridden quite a few bikes recently looking to see what was out there at my price point and this bike was high on the list.
So I decided to head down to Reid Cycles on the weekend arriving Saturday at about 11:30am. The place was busy … tha...
Read moret is a good sign and to be expected. It took some time but I was served by a friendly member of staff soon enough. I enquired about taking the 360 for a test ride, I was then advised by the staff member whether I could come back mid-next week as the demo solo bikes did not have pedals. When I advised the staff member I had come a long way and was looking to buy the bike today, the staff member obligingly had the pedals attached. I took the bike for a test ride and all went well except for a dropped chain which I put down to cable stretching. I liked the bike, it is exactly what I wanted. When I returned to the shop the staff member assisted me with the purchase after a reasonably lengthy wait. During the period I was trying to purchase the bike, the sales person proceeded to continue to serve and answer questions from other customers leaving me waiting. Had I not liked the Solo 360 as much as I did I would have at that stage simply walked out. However I was committed. I found this whole experience really odd, I have not experienced this type of customer service for some time. Maybe I am used to service by big bike companies like Trek who take great care to make such a significant purchase such a positive experience. I appreciate the shop is busy, it was clear the shop was understaffed and the sales person was doing his best. However when a customer’s turn comes around the customer is deserving of the sales staff member’s full attention. So I paid the full price and because I had no racks on the car I asked them to store the bike overnight. The next day my wife went to pick the bike up as I was unable to do so. My wife asked the sales staff member if the bike was brand new and not a floor/demo model to which the sales person stated yes it was new and not ridden previously. My wife is very astute and proceeded to take the time to inspect the bike, after all this was not a small purchase for us, while the bike was good value for its price, it was by no means cheap. My wife soon found a bunch of scratches and minor damage to the bike, it was at this stage that the sales person admitted that maybe a few people had indeed ridden the bike to demo it. The sales person then sourced my wife a new bike.1 comment

Hi HBadger,
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us....
Read more We're really proud of the Solo 360 so we're stoked to hear it met your expectations. I would say that this bike will serve you well for a long time to come. In regards to demo bikes, we don't have demo bikes due to the size of our range and the amount of stock we'd effectively have to write off as a result. We do operate very differently from some of the larger brands like Trek that have much larger margins in their sale prices to allow for demo bikes. Large costs also means less people through the doors which does allow for more time per customer. Having said that your experience is less than acceptable. We'll be speaking to our store team to ensure they're not trying to juggle too many people at once and to remind them that they should be serving people in turn. I'm happy to hear that a new bike was sourced for you given the superficial damage on the floor bike. I sincerely hope that the bike is bringing you a lot of good times. If you'd like to discuss things further, please don't hesitate to contact us. Kind regards, MattSabrinaSydney

Never again
I have never written an online review of a product before, this is the first time I have felt so infuriated by a product or an encounter with a company that I felt compelled to do so. Also, my personal experience with Reid has led me to believe that this product simply isn't safe. It has put my life at risk 3 times now and I cannot believe that these bikes pass any safety standard in Australia. I would strongly recommend anyone looking to buy the vintage women's bikes to look elsewhere. Similarly I would not feel comfortable buying a product fr...
Read moreom this company for my children, I feel it is simply too great a risk. I am going to attempt to explain my experience with Reid as briefly as possible but this will inevitably be a long post because the issues I have had have been numerous, ongoing and long winded. This is the second bike I have purchased from Reid - I was a return customer. The first one was also a women's vintage of the same price range. I bought it back in 2011 when Reid opened a store in Newtown, Sydney. The two guys working there were helpful, patient and to be honest a real delight to deal with, I cannot fault their customer service. It was the first bike I'd purchased in Australia. I've lived in Europe and owned second hand bikes there, all of which have required little maintenance. Given I wasn't sure how I'd take to Sydney roads I didn't want to invest too much in a bike. Although it had its limitations I was happy with the bike I'd bought. So far so good. Some years down the track the bike was ruined while a friend had borrowed it and for the price of repairs I decide to get a new one - same company, same style, same price range. At the time I remember going into the store in Glebe, Sydney and while looking at the bikes my gut instinct was to look elsewhere - it was clear that the quality was not as good and this was also when I had my first encounter with the manager at the store. I would happily have not bought the bike simply to have avoided having to deal with this person, I can't emphasise strongly enough how negative my experience has been and how poor his customer service is. On this occasion, I asked him a few questions about the bikes and he treated me with utter disdain. I could feel a sublimated eye roll with ever question I asked - I felt as if he preferred I not be there at all, as if I weren't welcome. As a woman cyclist, this is particularly upsetting to me given the innumerable conversations I've had with women about their insecurities in these male dominated spaces and how this contributes to their fears around cycling in Sydney. But despite my gut instinct I bought the bike - it was largely laziness - I knew there was much better out there but I just chose the easy solution and this was in my price range.- Reid Cycles Online Store

Good bikes, super quick delivery.
I would like to congratulate Reid on the smooth transaction and super quick delivery of the two bikes I bought (one for myself and my wife). The bikes were delivered within a week of the order and were well packaged. Although we were not home for delivery the driver made sure the bikes were placed securely within the property.
