I use the van everyday, I drive it easy and nice but it just breaks down. Gearbox issues, clutch issues, map sensors and other sensors, now water pump has failed.
Purchased in February 2019 for $40,000.
There’s too many things about this vehicle that annoy me to list them all. If you’re looking for a vehicle that’s unique for the sake of it rather than to make any improvements then this is the one.
Purchased in April 2021.
I own a Renault Master Cab Chassis 2018 2.3 Turbo Diesel 6 speed auto 22,500 klms on the clock.
I had the same issue with the Gearbox stuck in Neutral. Its turns out after a Diagnostic examination
that hydro service pump has to be replaced because they cannot repair the seals???? Its like a car that may have a puncture, so lets throw the wheel away!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Purchased in July 2020.
This is by far the worst vehicle I’ve ever driven, coming from 25+ years in the transport industry!!! The automated transmission in theses things is the worst design and technology with stalling from stand still to not knowing which gear it wants down hill chopping and changing from low to a higher gear!! The seaty position is appalling with on up and down adjustment on the steering column. We too have had our work van in and out of the dealership repairing and replaCing the sliding passenger door to still be playing up!! The people mover is an absolute embarrassment to the Renault brand... cheap for a reason, avoid it at all costs...
Purchased in January 2019.

After sales service is rubbish, my service centre is Springwood Qld they are rude and do not help at all, there head office is also no help, I have had my own business for 10 years and I have never dealt a company that have treated a customer in this type of way, they never call me back, lie and don't fix your van properly, get them to look at it the other day and there was a pump that was not plugged back in under the engine, dont waste your time buying one of these piece of crap!
Purchased for $42,750.
I replaced 2015 Renault master with the new one 2020 Auto, LWB a few months back. All new shape and dashboard. It is mechanically very reliable vehicle. Load in it 1.6t and tow1.5t simultaneously with no worries. On my 2015, had 130k, bought brand new, had no problems at all. The total expenses including tires, brakes and four services $3200.00 were spent for five years, that's about $540.00 for a year. Fair dinkum!!! Purchase cost is cheaper than others. Standardised, only Fiat Ducato takes more payload.

Renaut Master is great and reliable with a 5 speeds manual gearbox. Forget the semi-auto as it will send you broke....I use this van everyday and never had any issues or problems with the manual gearbox. I have now done 180 000 KMS from new and not a problem , just replaced a water pump and brake rotors twice but that is normal maintenance.. A great and easy vehicle for loading heavy cargo

I have recently been slugged with a $6200 repair bill on my 2014 Renault master X62 model. ( Not under Manufacturers Warranty)
I was driving my vehicle in normal traffic when i came to a set of lights and waited for the green go ahead,, but my renault decided to select neutral and stay there..
Three light changes later and I managed to get it going (check gearbox ) came up on the dash warning message.
I drove it to the nearest Renault service centre to get a diagnosis and was told that each time they did a diagnosis it had gotten worse,, now u...
Engine and transmission manual is great very powerful gearbox is a bit noisy
Renault Australia services are very expensive $759 for a oil change laughable when questioned they said oh we use genuine parts the dual mass flywheel just failed it’s under warranty however if they pull it down and find something else there price for new flywheel and clutch Is $7500 the clutch place is $2300 same genuine parts so of course I could not trust Renault to replace so had to fork out of own pocket the side plastic bumper still came off $280 from Renault $31 on eBay for a genuine part now come on I think I’ll buy a vw next time what a shame but I do 100 000 km a year and can’t offord there ridiculous prices on parts and services
Rubbish. Door handle fell off, central locking failed, could not lock sliding doors for two weeks, blue tooth and rear camera failed, paint peeled off both sliding door rails. Replaced under warranty but they scratched the paint work when replaced, the orange paint has gone chalky and powdery. Scallops in passenger rear tyre due to suspension issues. “This issue was brought to my attention buy a Renault mechanic who I did some work for”. Promises from customer service to get independent paint specialist to look at. Village motors in north lakes could not care less! Will engage fair trading now.

Avoid at all costs. Worst commercial Van to own, repetitive ongoing major faults and issues
I will just post what was sent directly to the manager director in regards to our Renault Masters' ongoing major faults and issues that have not been resolved.
Our company will be taking the matter up with VCAT / the relevant bodies and would advise any other purchasers / owners having similar issues should also do the same. The vehicle and Renault Australia / Managing Directors efforts to remedy and resolve problems are well below par and under under consumer laws are:
- Not of acceptable quality
- Vehicle has not matched description when purchased
- Vehicle is Not fit for purpose
- Problems have been ongoing and not resolved
Please see the attached email below: ...
Read more ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear [name removed], I am writing to regarding our company's Renault Master Commercial Van purchased in November 2013 XXX XXX (VIN #: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX). The vehicle that was purchased has had a host of repetitive faults, issues and major failures keeping the vehicle off the road (at times), and created loss of revenues. I have been in a repetitious loop with your customer service team which has now come to a complete stand still with a host of issues and faults still unresolved. The vehicle itself has been nothing but problematic since day of purchase and not fit for use and for this reason I come to you today to give the opportunity to resolve the matter before taking the matter before VCAT, Consumer Affairs and/or the ACCC for a replacement vehicle / full refund. I refuse to deal with your customer service team going forward as I have lost my entire trust and faith in them and the Renault brand due to these issues and the customer experience provided to date. The faults and failures that I am referring to are as follows; 1. GEARBOX - Gearbox seized in Neutral during normal driving operation - while stopped at light or following parking on numerous occasions during the first year of ownership until vehicle was placed on a tow truck and towed from high profile clients property. Gear box was replaced. 2. Check Engine Light Sensor - 4 warranty service visits. Boost sensor replaced following multiple visits 3. Drivers Side And Slide Door Handle Failure - In excess of 5 warranty service visits. Drivers door handle assessed numerous times prior to eventually been installed with new updated OAM parts. Slide door handle replaced twice. 4. Repetitive Slide Door Alignment, Sensor And Warning Light - Major Ongoing Problem - The passenger side sliding door rail, alignment and closing mechanism is faulty - Sensor constantly beeps, warning lights sound, door does not close properly, Vehicle does not does not lock correctly. 7 Warranty service visits. Not Resolved 5. Slide Door Closing & Lock Mechanism - Failed due to above point. Lock mechanism is not aligned to allow proper functioning, either becomes damaged or not functional (seized). Cannot lock vehicle. Repaired once at charge (should have been repaired under warranty) Failed again in in Gippsland on the 15/2. Door had to be secured shut by ratchet straps from the interior so vehicle could be driven home. Remains secured shut by ratchet straps. Vehicle cannot be locked up. securely. High risk of property and equipment theft. 6. Radio And Bluetooth Operation - Vehicle purchased with premium audio sat nav pack - bluetooth phone functionality is faulty / no adequate quality to use. Functionality has never been at a standard where use is suitable while driving. Unable to conduct business phone calls / contact staff members while on the road. Numerous attempts to repair with no positive result. Intermittent radio problems (changes stations and turns on and off). Has been assessed on numbers occasions with no positive result 7. Air Conditoner Unit / Compressor Faulty - Failure of compressor unit December 2017. Occurred in our peak season and lead up to Christmas. This should not happen within this legth of time. Compressor unit of extremely bad quality. Unit has not been repaired issue unresolved The vehicle has visited renault service centres 14 times outside of the scheduled service interval for warranty or no charge items - this does not include service visits where a service receipt was not issued (estimated at an additional 4-5 visits) The purchase of this vehicle and ongoing faults and issues are: - Not of acceptable quality - Product has not matched description when purchased - Not fit for purpose - Problems have been ongoing and not resolved We would not have purchased the vehicle if we knew these items were not up to standard and ongoing issues and faults would ensue. All service receipts are attached for reference. Please note full records from City Renault are not available as the business was sold and full service receipts were not available (approximately 4 visits - some basic information provided) In addition Renault Australia customer service has been completely unacceptable in their efforts and resolutions. They; 1. Don’t care 2. Never return you call or call you back pertaining to issues 3. Leave issues, faults or concerns unresolved on numerous occasions. 4. Rarely or do not acknowledge issues and faults you have put forward via phone or email 4. Do not treat issues with respect or urgency that they require 5. Empathise or care for your issues or concerns As an example on numerous occasions I have asked the customer service manager to return my call pertaining to the issues and faults, never on one occasion have they. I have given up entirely on this avenue. As you can read I am a very frustrated business consumer having put up with these issues for far too long and I am giving you the the opportunity to right the wrong, make amends and resolve the matter before it is taken to VCAT, Consumer Affairs and/or the ACCC. Your urgent attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. I would like a response by COB Tuesday the 20th of February --------------------------------------------------------------------- (still no action or reply as of 15th of March 2018) All in all I would strongly advise against purchasing a vehicle from this company particularly so the Renault Master Model given this and others reviews. We have owned multiple commercial vans (new and used) but this is by far the worst of them. Customer Service leave a lot to be desired. Actually they are beyond a joke. As one reviewer mentioned I would rather stab myself in the eye with a fork if I had the option of this and dealing with this company any further or in the future. I personally wish any others all the best in your endeavours should you be experiencing the similar problems and again reiterate on my experience - please avoid this van and company (based on customer service and dispute resolution) at all costs. My experience with renault has been a nightmare from day 1.
I ordered my extra long / rear drive master van in October 2015 from McCarrels in Newcastle.
At the time I ordered it they told me it would be here in about late Feb 2016 or early March...it arrived in September 2016.
Then within a few months, door handles falling off.. one after the other.
It kept going back to be repaired time and time again...then Renault finally came up with an idea to sort it ...Cable ties!!!...Yep, that's the best they've got.. wow.
Then, on a return trip fr...
Gearbox gone at 60,000 miles back to a ford me thinks noisy van disappointed if this vehicle is going to cost a fortune to keep on the road only had 3 months dealer says it is common fault with Renault gearboxes so buyers beware will be bogging back to a transit cheaper to repair and more reliable.

Am I right in assuming that there is no park mode in the auto gearbox of the Renault Master 2021 series?
The handbrake is the only method of securing the vehicle
That’s correct, weird hey. Would have actually thought it unroadworthy in days gone by as park brake was one check they did

Great van much better than hiace or smaller vans used all over europe will go the distance
Good van apart from the auto, it’s a piece of outdated crap. Get a manual and you’ll be fine. $8000 later and my auto still isn’t fixed
When I need to do gear box service?
