I will never rent a car with them again!!!
Very easy to pay for the Insurance, but impossible to claim for the cover.
I rented a car and contracted their Full Cover insurance, but when I needed them they said it is another company and they don't have any responsibility. It is frustrating, disappointing and stressful. I thought I was contracting the rental company's insurance, but it was not. So I have an accident and the rental company did not have any record of any insurance.
RentalCars told me to contact RentalCover and them they ask for many documents that shouldn't be needed as I contracted the insurance when I rented the car.
I don't believe them anymore.
Terrible company to deal with. Firstly charged me for using Tolls even though I'd paid for them via my own account. Should have learnt my lesson then.
Secondly had to return a car early due to Covid 19 and Queensland Government shutting borders and they refused to refund or give credit for remaining days.
Avoid this company at all cost
We had to cut short our trip in Perth owing to the Coronavirus Covid-19. After spending over an hour with this company to claim a partial refund (a mere 2 days), they said it was not their policy to reimburse us for cutting short our car hire. Despite being a repeat customer of Rentalcars.com, I could not rate this company low enough. If I could provide a negative rating I certainly would. Please be warned go through the individual car hire companies direct, as this third party company is definitely NOT consumer orientated. Once they have your money they will not refund it even under reasonable circumstances.
Ridiculous and dishonest
Paid and bought extra car insurance via phone after making a online booking for car hire in Romania. Lady on the phone seem nice enough to explain insurance details, full protection =100%cover. That was crap, had to pay extra euros 174 in Romania for another full insurance when collecting the car from klass wagen. Apparently protection doesn’t equals full cover! Just book through the bigger companies with save u a heartache overseas!
Shocking - avoid at all costs and book directly with euro rental company
I made two bookings with this site, since there was a savings as opposed to booking directly with Alamo. What a grave mistake. The few dollars saved was simply not worth it.
Having made the booking, rentalcars.com charged both bookings well in advance of pick up, whereas Alamo (and Avis, Hertz etc) only charge upon pick up. I had no advance warning of this charge.

Quick to charge, slow to refund
Yeah, alright, I have received a $96 refund out of the $212 rental cost that should never have been occurred thanks to the notorious coronavirus and SA's sudden announcement regardless of the fact most cases are brought by oversea travellers, dragging interstate travelling down the abyss. Guaranteed I will never use a website that charges an INTERNATIONAL transaction fee despite EVERYTHING happens in the commonwealth from the east coast to the south.
100% refund easily and fully reimbursed - highly rate this company
Beginning of Feb 2020, I made a car reservation in Spain for 30 days between June/July (extremely cheap FYI). After reading all the policies on their website, i made the decision to pay for the full value given benefit of getting all the money back if cancel before 48 hours of the reservation. I just cancelled it yesterday via a few clicks online and less than a couple hours after, received an email proving the cancellation was made successfully and free of charge. Highly rate it!
Copped a foreign transaction fee for cancellation
Recently booked and paid for 3 week Ezi car rental with Booking.com in AUD$ to be picked up at Auckland NZ airport. Had to cancell at last minute as LATAM airlines off-loaded us 3 hours before flying because they had RESOLD our seats to their Sth American residents due to Covid-19 isolation rules. Received a refund for car rental less cancellation fee however Rentalcars.com (did not know they were involved until Ezi cars email informed us) refunded my card in GB pounds which copped a foreign transaction fee from my bank ! Absolutely disguste...d, they were happy to receive payment in AUD why couldn't the refund be in AUD ! Not only did we lose our holiday thanks to LATAM we got stung by the car rental company as well. We accept that we cancelled only 11 hours before pick-up but we were victims of a shonky airline. Could not fly next day because of NZ rule of self- isolation for 14 days in a hotel in Auckland so could not drive anyway ! Think Rentalcars attitude to refunds is absolutely appalling especially as it was an emergency cancellation. Would never recommend them to anyone.
Great original price on the car for 4 days. The trouble came when I asked if I could return the car 7-8 hours later in the day. Obviously I expected to pay an extra days hire for this time as it took me past the extra 24 hours. What I didn't expect was the company to say that they would double the price of the whole four days for the ability to add an extra 7-8 hours on.

Rentalcars.com - When an apparent cheap deal becomes expensive!
As many we were attracted to book a car hire via Rentalcars.com for their interesting prices. That was a mistake! Booking the car was user friendly but when it came to making the payment problems started. Booking from Europe our bank initially blocked the payment as they thought it was a fraudulent transaction. After several tries our payment succeeded but the app still showed that booking was not confirmed and we didn't receive any confirmation by email within reasonable time after trying to make the booking. As we needed a car we made other a...rrangements locally. 3 days before the car - which believed was not booked - had to be picked up we received a mail with basic information. As we went in the rentalcars.com app the next day to check and cancel the booking it was too late (cancellation has to be at least 48 hours before pick up) and the cancellation fee was the total amount (in line with their T&Cs). What looked as a good deal ended up to be a terrible one. I wrote the customer service and send them all the screen shots to proof the apparent bug in the system but they were very unhelpful and just referred to T&Cs. Be careful.
Beware poor rental cars.com service when something goes wrong
My recent experience with Rentalcars.com and Alamo is that when something goes wrong their service is appalling and I won’t use them again.
I rented a car through Rentalcars for my wife and children to pick up a standard sedan from Alamo Rentals at Sydney airport to attend my father’s funeral.
On the day Alamo texted to advise that the care would not be ready on time.
I rang Rentalcars help line but they took over 20 minutes to answer the call. They advised we needed to talk to Alamo and they couldn’t help. Alamo’s phone number on the book...
Wish I'd thought to check the reviews before booking.
If anyone is thinking of booking a car from Rentals Cars, then my advice is don't. Wish I could give 0 stars. Look at the prices they're offering if you want to compare what's on offer, then book directly with the car company themselves. They don't usually charge in advance of car pick up either. For a start Rental Cars.com and Booking.com are the same company and they are an English company, not Australian which I wasn't aware of at the time, so you'll likely get slugged with foreign transaction fees even though the transaction is in AUD. Whe...n I attempted to book with them I received error messages twice with one credit card when I tried to pay, then once with another card with the same error messag, before I thought to book direct with the company which I then proceeded to do. I later found an email from booking.com with a booking confirmation which I cancelled immediately. Fast forward, two weeks and I discovered that three payments had actually been withdrawn from two different cards. a call and email to Rental cars produced no results with them saying they released an amount as a result of the cancellation which didn't match any of the amounts withdrawn and which I still haven't received. Subsequent emails fared no better with condescending, inaccurate replies. I've had to raise disputes with both banks, which fortunately are much more helpful though I'm still awaiting the outcome.
Cancelled by the leasor less than 24 hours before my pick up time.
We booked an 8 seater for pick up in Melbourne, Australia to go away for the long weekend tomorrow. Enterprise the leasor contacts me this morning saying they are trying to find an 8 seater for us but are struggling and if I can pick one up later. We cannot do that. By 3pm I am told it isnt possible and that I personally have to now go through the process to cancel and get my refund from rental cars.com. creating a lot of hassle and work for me. Then of course I have to wait 5 to 7 working days to get my money back when I am the one that is bei...ng screwed over here the day before our trip. To add injury to insult they then say they will assist with finding another car of the same specs for me and send me the booking reference. The original booking was for AUD398. Their deal was a laughable AUD760. Absolutely disgraceful stuff. If anything they should be providing me with a price match when I am the one being left in a completely hopeless situation of their doing. I booked directly with budget for same deal as I had originally required for about AUD430. And I wont be using rentalcars.com again.
Worst company to deal with, never book with them ever again, would advise anyone looking at going through them to not do it, you will end up out of cash or stranded at an airport, company tried to say we missed our pick up time but had spoken previously with them to change time. Company full of lies and trying to get more money
Waste of time middle man with no help - would give a zero
I truly have never felt more disappointed in my life. I recently booked a BMW on a trip to Italy and I wanted to be sure it was all kosher because Italians have been known to be scam artists.
I had a chat with a consultant from rental cars - written is best - and the representative ASSURED me that the ONLY way I would not get that car is if it had not been returned in good condition. And if that was the case, I would get one of the same standard (i.e. A premium model). I ended up with a piece of crap Citreon because not only did Budget not hon...our the policy of SIMILAR, they actually never had the car in the first place. Budget says that's Rental Cars fault, Rental Cars blame budget. All I know, is I should have booked the cheaper car direct with the the other supplier and got rid of Rental Cars - what a crap service. I was stranded in Naples and have basically been penalised because I had to sign this bloody rental agreement as I had no way to get to my next destination. What a scam.

Absolute scam artists!! Rentalcars.com is a second party provider who just take your money, they do not care about customer satisfaction nor reveal all conditions until after you have already made payment. Be warned that they state cancellation is free, it is not free!!!

Price Match Guarantee within rentalcars,com is to make client fool
I have booked a car from rentalcars.com. The car was expensive and charged AUD 24 than what competitor was offering. When I approached them, they ask me to put competitor details on the tool and customer care will come back to me within 24 Hours.
There was no contact done by them for almost 4 days and after 4 days, I received an email saying they could not find the details. I will definitely not recommend users to book through their portal and rather directly to car hire websites for better deal.
Stay away from Discovery Campervans!!!!
They are bad news! When I tried to amend the drop off date 31days prior to pickup I was told I would be charged the full amount regardless of drop off date. Lies, lies, lies! Same day I found a cheaper price online for the same vehicle and asked them to honour this price. They advised I would loose 20% cancellation fee to rebook. Be careful, even thought the Terms & Conditions for each rental company are listed on thier web page they also have thier own Terms and Conditions.
Beware the rental company charge 10% cancellation fee 90-22days prior to pick up but Discovery Campervans charge 20%.

Had to wait at the rental company for hours just because of rentalcars.com’s defective systems and processes. I called customer service and the agent accepted the issue was at their end and that my paid amount would be refunded. He requested to book directly from the rental company and that the difference in cost would be paid in full later. But later they refused to pay the difference.
Worst part is they even deducted 30 AUD from the refund they made on my original booking and didn’t even bother to respond on my complaint.
