The Resmed S9 is the next in line after the excellent S8, and has been superceded by the Airsense 10. However, after trying the Airsense 10 I immediately bought another S9 unit - effectively skipping the Airsense 10 and waiting for the next model.
The S9 is a smaller unit than the S8 with a quieter motor. The display is colour, which is better than the S8, and the detachable humidifier makes it a smaller unit than the Airsense 10. The algorithm now distinguishes began obstructive apneas and central apneas, which does allow for much better ...therapy. There's a memory card and the data is compatible with the Sleepyhead software for assisting therapy. Some "whistle" on exhale and I asked to hear a selection from my CPAP provider before settling in a purchasing decision. All in all, these are exceptional units: quiet and providing excellent therapy.
