I thought I was going to die!
Where do I start, nobody likes small planes, but this is out of control. I got on, seats were crammed. We were going down the runway and the pilot decided to only speed up at pretty much the end of the runway and only just got off the ground before hitting grass or the barrier. At first I ignored it thinking, maybe he's experienced and knows how far he can push it but all of a sudden the loud and deafening engines go completely silent, I look out the window and the propellers aren't spinning as fast and the plane drops! My stomach was still 100...metres above me and I nearly threw up, it was downright terrifying. This happened at least 20-30 times during the flight over and over again, I could barely stand by the end of it. 3 months later 2 REX flights have had engine failures and I dont doubt it a single bit, the plane rattled the whole way which is understandable since its a small flight but seriously, engines stopping!!! If you value your stomach, your good dreams and that tiny bit of confidence you have on planes please do not ever set foot on one of these planes!

My 89 year old father flew out of Merimbula on 21st March he was suppose to land in Sydney at 12.20 but ended up landing at 3.10pm. I was not informed of the delay even though I had rang Rex the day before asking if there was a possibility of delays I was assured every flight was going ahead and on time. I had to ring twice more to find out what was going on I was told it would land at 2.35pm then the next call was 2.50pm and finally it got in at 3.10pm. My father was getting very stressed as we had booked him a seat on the Shuttle Bus that was...bringing him home to our place. When Sylvia the driver of the Northern Beaches Shuttle Bus couldn't locate my Dad (because he was still up in the air) she rang me. I told her what was going on and she said she would wait to get him and she did, she also kept in touch with me and rang when she had Dad on the bus. This was so appreciated by us as we live over 3 hours away from the Sydney Airport and my Dad would have been there by himself until we could have picked him up. I understand there can be delays but REX you need to keep people informed of these things that's why we give you our mobile numbers.
My wife was approached by a Rex pilot while in Bamaga. He seemed nice at the time, then he contacted her on facebook and began to make send lewd messages until he waa blocked by my wife. Very unprofessional and arrogant behavior while the pilot was in a remote community. We will never fly with them again.
We were on a flight from Sydney to Orange. Five minutes before we were due to land, we were informed that the aeroplane had to return to Sydney due to a 'technical issue". The weather in Sydney was bad and we had to circle for an hour before we could return to Sydney. My partner and I spent this time worried that the plane wasn't able to land safely, or something similar and that we were in danger. We landed in Sydney to be told that there was a mechanical issue, but it wasn't dangerous. It appears they diverted our flight to get it to enginee...rs in Sydney more quickly and minimise costs to themselves, with little regard for the passengers on board. We then waited another 2 and a half hours before being boarded on a plane. We were not given anything to make our wait at the airport more comfortable. I should say that a couple of the staff at the airport were lovely. All in all I came away with the impression that REX as a company doesn't properly value its customers.
Adorable flight attendant
My husband and I flew REX air from Kingscote to Adelaide on Saturday 21st January 2017 on the 10.30 am flight. The flight attendant was the happiest and friendliest I have come across. We fly about 30 flights a year with airlines from all over the world and this young woman was on a 25 min flight and was as professional as any I have come across. She obviously loves her job and it shows. Find out who she is and show her this reveiw and thank her.
Today I booked an emergency flight as my father is dying. They said they would ring the airport and ask them to be aware I'm on my way. I arrived at 5.30......plane due to leave at 5.40 and was already leaving down the runway. Rex bookings had rung but no one answered. What a hick operation. I'm a 4/12 hr drive away from the hospital. I'm not going to make it. Rex Airlines........words can not convey my emotions at this time. I have another flight booked first thing in the morning..........I honestly hope it's not too late.
Terrible customer service and no communication between staff
Passenger travelling with oxygen followed Rex instructions to be told information was incorrect. Lack of knowledge by staff left us lost on what to do. Rex check in completed only to be told oxygen couldn't go past security. Further information was required regarding the oxygen condenser which was sighted and booked as check in luggage had to be retrieved back. Passenger is a transplant patient trying to return home left standing helpless staff very rude and showed no compassion. Total lack of knowledge of conditions for traveling with oxygen by staff and rudeness is unacceptable in this industry.
Bad service and unrealable
Was notified of flight delay at 11.30pm for 6.30am flight, changed time to 11.00 am flight resulting in me having to drive to Perth from Albany to catch connecting flight to Melbourne. This is not satisfactory and as a result will never fly with them again. This is the second time this has happened they do not deserve to be an airline in regional areas I hope their contract will not be renewed.
Getting hit in the side for an hour and a half, never again
Sat next to a male with an over sized computer on the REX flight last night. The person was continually elbowing me in the side. I was totally squeezed into the wall, surely a flight attendant can see that this is ridiculous. Never again!!!
Can't Carry a Laptop Bag??
We have travelled to ARMIDALE from Sydney and thought as REX has 15$ lesser than Qantas, we will give a try. We have saved 15$ but spent about 60$ on the top as we got laptop bag that's exceeded the weight. Did you thought we exceeded the hand luggage?? No Hand luggage bag is 7kg but on the top she said "You can't carry laptop bag as it will be included in the cabin and we are small aircraft" but for the question I asked "Every other airways don't count laptop bag as the laptop is the only item in it" - Sorry Sir "Qantas has 2 cabin cases, we ...have only 1, so you can't carry laptop bag while you have hand luggage" - Really I don't understand how can this happen to REX. So Sad REX, you should treat yourself just like other airways. I don't think you are a begger beside the other travel companies.

I have used REX a couple of times now for flying about the land of Oz to several destinations. I still prefer Qantas (sorry, REX) but that's more because with Qantas I get loyalty points. However price is always a factor, along with flying times, so I do use other airlines. The staff have always been very friendly; the flights on time. I can't say anything about luggage, for visiting my mother (which is usually what I use domestic flights for), or friends, I only go a couple of days so only take a small carry on bag with me. I believe it's call...ed a 'cabin bag' & thus have actually never checked in luggage with me. Food is ok; I do wish they had better biscuits though. Just a quick look to the right here, I see something about luggage not arriving. I travel a lot & use a lot of airlines - fortunately I have only lost luggage once; however a frequent flyer's tip: ALWAYS pack spare undies, socks, change of clothes and a few flight certified toiletries in your carry on. If you loose luggage, it's usually for about 24 hours. So having these pieces help you get by while you wait for your luggage to catch up. What can happen is that if there is less than an hour in between domestic flights, the luggage might not make a connecting flight; or it's been held up in security. They randomly check bags & this can cause the bag to miss the next flight. Keep this in mind when flying & be prepared if it does happen. It's also an aid with flight delays; because checked in luggage won't get to you until you reach your destination.
Luggage didnt arrive
Flew Perth-Esperance. Checked luggage (only 8kg) didn't arrive on the flight. Massively inconvenient as I had to purchase a number of items for my 1 day/1 night work trip. Luggage had turned up by the time I flew out of Esperance the next afternoon. No apology or reasonable explanation offered.
Appalling and incompetent
I had a ticket for a 10:50pm flight from Birdsville to Toowoomba on Tuesday. I received a text the night before advising the flight was four hours late, leaving at 2:50pm. Around 11am that day I checked online - the advice had never been changed and said the flight was on time, which was clearly wrong. I then checked on the phone and the message said the flight was four hours late (as per the text). I arrived at the airport at 1:10 pm to see the plane taking off. Apparently they had made up time so left earlier!!! The airport staff said Rex had...no mobile no for me but they had sent me a text the day before! The next plane is three days later. I have not been offered any assistance with costs for staying in Bridsville for another three days. As this is a very remote area with mobile coverage only in some towns and most airports are only staffed when planes are due, there may have been many other people inconvenienced by having to wait for hours to be picked up. Planes can be later and that is a nuisance. Leaving earlier without passengers is APPALLING, Rex.

I understand that connecting to an international flight within 24 hours after flying with Rex, the baggage allowance is 23 kilos. Does this apply when returning on an international flight then connecting with Rex?
