What a great piece of kit.
I purchased this yesterday after doing some research on the One + range. I was originally getting a standard trimmer and found the pole trimmer on the shelf next to it. The pole one suited me better so I took it home. It wasn't in kit form so I had to purchase the battery. After checking into it, it doesn't look to be cheaper getting a kit over separate purchases anyway. This gave me the opportunity to get a slightly larger, 2.5ah battery. I charged the battery and the next day, did a solid 30 minutes on a rough hedge. It easily handled everyth...ing up to 12mm and with a bit of fiddling, it lopped off larger ones up to maybe 16mm with ease as well. It gets a bit heavy at full extension. I'm a fairly solid (but unfit) bloke and my shoulders ached for a couple of hours afterwards. On the short setting it was easy to use. After 30 minutes the battery gauge still showed 3 out of 4 bars.
Questions & Answers
Can I use Ryobi 18V ONE+ 2.5Ah 55cm Hedge Trimmer one handed or should I use a different model for grass plants which need a spare hand to hold the plant
Ryobi hedge trimmers require a two handed operation. This is a safety feature with two interlocking triggers. This is to prevent a nasty accident if the cutter bar got out of control. Beside that, the weight is too much for one handed operation, unlike the small light weight unit designed for one handed use.
why is ryobi pole hedge trimmer with battery kit ($169) cheaper than ryobi one+ pole hedge trimmer without battery and charger ($199) ?
