Obviously lacks power unless you are willing buy 10 batteries to use at maximum levels of operation. Design flaw - you cannot stand it up or lay it down. No matter which way you do it, it falls over. Sigh. Show details

Fair to Reasonable – After 3 years of light to moderate use (every three to six months), first one wheel broke, and then the other. Sewed the bag up once and now needs sewing again in a different place. Sucks fairly well (don't use it as a blower) as long as leaves are dry. Wanted to get a battery model but reviews are bad. Might have to get the needle and thread out again and put up with no wheels. Show details

Really does blow and suck – Spent as much time unblocking it as vacuuming. If leaves are slightly wet then definitely forget it. Seriously the product designers need to go back to the drawing boards and get some real world experience as there are so many design improvements to be made from hand fatigue and plastic part vulnerabilities that break (e.g. hinge to hold the tube) and render it even more useless. Show details

Fantastic purchase – The vacuum is a decent size, I don’t need to lean over to use it, and the strap helps me to hold the unit for I have severe back problems, so I’m very happy. Also the performance is fantastic the suction is great, and the mulch was fine. Definitely recommend this unit. Show details

Fantastic light weight easy to use – I find it easy to use, I was expecting it to be bad following other reviews, thankfully I went ahead and tried it myself. I absolutely love it, I use it only for the vacuum really and it's brilliant, rolls along on the wheels and really you only feel a slight weight of the battery end. I still use the small garden blower for tidying up but have… Read more

also flicked this onto blow occasionally, it's great, no need to detach any bits from the vacuum to use the blower it's just fine as it is leaving it whole. Also bought the edger on the same day, my ryobi family is growing and I love it. I can use all of it easily which is so important to me. Makes my garden spotless and I suffer from other people's leaves, so it's fantastic. I highly recommend it.

Works well but had to do some modifications – These are quite well made but I had to do a some modifications to make it easier to use. 1- there is no support between the blower tube with the wheels on and the large vacuum tube..During use, the vacuum tube pulls hard down on the ground and cannot be pushed along. I fitted a support between the tubes. 2- leaf bag drags along the ground during… Read more

use and would probably wear away the bag. I took about 20 mm off the front of the vacuum tube which altered the angle of use and lifted the bag off the ground.

3- flimsy plastic zipper on the leaf bag which soon started to play up. I take the bag off and empty it by way of the inlet hole but very inconvenient.

These machines are quite heavy and not easy to use, I would think they are not suitable for a female.

June 1st 2017 Update: Adding to my last Ryobi review on March 24th 2016

My Ryobi RVB2400ESF blower vac is still working well and easy to use after the modifications already mentioned, but as I expected the cheap plastic zip on the bag soon failed. so I sewed up where the zip was and now I un-clip the bag and empty it through the inlet hole. Now I am used to doing it this way I find it very easy and I wonder why they ever fitted a cheap troublesome zip in the first place.

This is not the only Ryobi product I have modified to make it easier to use and I have tried to contact them to share my ideas but I cannot find them anywhere.

Total rubbish! – It does blow but DOES NOT VACUUM! They promised 300 km/h wind. It achieves that when you trow it in the bin. Otherwise, MAY be 20 km/h suction. Larger, dry leaves are not sucked in at all, and if they do, just block the pipe. Show details

Very poor product – Very very poor bag on this product, have had to buy many because of zip failures. Now can’t even buy one at all. Ryobi don’t seem interested despite asking me for a review, responded by blaming me for not washing the bag out. Nowhere does it recommend washing the bag in the instructions. Do not consider buying one of these. Show details

Don't waste your money - flimsy & breaks easily – I purchased this unit from Bunnings in March 2019 - I used it a dozen times, and the saftey clip broke - it will no longer run. Poor quality compared to my last Makita blower. Show details

Worst Blower Vac EVER! – The bag split after first use, which was replaced. It is constantly getting clogged as it has a very badly designed entry into the bag. If the foliage is slightly moist it gathers around the edge of the fan until it completely clogs up and provides no suction at all and you have to dismantle to clear it out. I spent more time unblocking it… Read more

When i posted a review after Ryobi invited me to, they deleted! it seems they dont like bad reviews of the their tools.

"Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!"

I sent and email as well and they ignored me for months, didnt even say hey we will send you an new bag or anything.

Finally got a response "Thanks for taking the time to review your 2400W Blower Vacuum. We're sorry to hear your blower did not perform to your expectations. We appreciate the feedback you've provided, and we'll pass it on to our product development team for future improvement."

Returning it today would not recommend to anyone!

Performs worse than a much cheaper Ozito unit – Creates a vortex about 1/2 way up the tube which traps some of what you are trying to suck up. When you release the trigger this promptly falls out the tube making a mess. It can actually also throw light material out of the tube. Very poor tool. Ryobi should be ashamed. Show details

Probably the worst ryobi product i have ever purchased – I purchased the blower/vacuum in November 2019 and had to return the unit as the collection bag seam was not fully sewed together. I May 2020 i was using the unit for the second time when the zipper on the collection bag opened up due to the really poor quality of the zipper. Accurate performance for price. , – It’s a little unwieldy but I am a big strong beast of a man so it’s not an issue . It sucks well as long as the material - leaves etc are dry ! Need to empty when the bag is half full for good performance anyway , It’s greatest feature is switch from blow to suck in. A second ! Show details

More noise than vacuum – Very much a disappointment after several other garden tools from this brand. Can't inhale gum nuts, liquid amber nuts.Extremely noisy. The inlet and blower are located together causing some blowback of dust and fine particles. Just a bit flimsy for household use. Show details

Painful Shocks – This unit seems to generate static electricity - it builds up to the point where is will zap you to discharge through the handle. It is extremely painful. Static electricity is one thing, but this is next level. I have contacted Ryobi - see what they come back with. The unit is not fit for purpose and it puts the user at risk. Shocking – I had a previous one, which gave me shocks through the handle, I thought it was just faulty, so I exchanged it at Bunnings for a replacement, as I need something this big to handle my leaves. I have only used the new one about 6 times, and now it is giving nasty shocks as well. I checked here and find I am not the only one. My arm is quite sore, and possibly has done some damage. Show details

Good unit, poor design – I will start with the #1 issue. The bag design is utter garbage. For a unit over $400 one would expect a quality bag to be supplied, but they dont. It seems to be a joke on us by Ryobi. The bag allows ALL of the dust to escape, you will basically be covered in dust, along with your outdoor furniture. Ryobi, do the right thing and build a new bag… Read more

for these units and supply your customers who purchased these units with a functioning bag. In my opinion this product is not fit for purpose as the job it is meant to do (ie clean up the yard) results in dust spreading everywhere, it is a joke..

I do not have a problem with the unit itself. It is heavy but for me its fine, but i can see for some people it would be too heavy to lug around even with the shoulder strap. It has great power and enough battery to last for the job at hand.

If you think you can deal with the dust, trust me you cant. It really is a deal breaker and this unit is not worth the money you pay.

Worst of worst. Create even more mess! – I bought Ryobi blower before and a Ryobi lawn mower last week and there were all good. I became Ryobi die hard fan and hence bought this vacuum yesterday from Bunnings. Well, it turned out to be my nightmare. Firstly, I thought it was cool like carrying a Type 91 surface-to-air missile for vacuum. Soon, I found it was very noisy, heavy and did… Read more

not suck well. Then, I found it ejected a lot of dust out that I thought my artificial grass lawn was very dirty. However, I put it over on my chair and table trying to suck a few leaf, the machine put back the dust all over the places on my chair and table.

After just one minute, dust was all over me, table, chair and the lawn. I turned it off and took it back into the room and check. Found out they have the mulching function which automatically chop the leave into tiny particles. Too late for checking out, my allergy triggered and immediately need to take Claratyne.

Well, before using the machine, it took me five mins to hand pick the leave. I paid $145 (+ Wire) hoping to cut down to 1 min. Mistake! It took me more than an hour to clean up the garden and my room, plus full shower and my clothes washing, as well as medicine!

How could someone invent such a machine which create more mess than original intended for is beyond me.

Took it back to Bunnings and refund.

A Disappointing Replacement of a Great Older Unit – This was a replacement of much older Ryobi electric blower vac that had lasted our family for at least 5 years and performed very well. Unfortunately my post purchase positive… Read more

glow quickly evaporated when I noticed it was leaving a debris trail of heavier materials (sand and small sticks) and then I got my first electric shock.

My first thought it was a defective unit and I should shut it down immediately but it didn't seem to make sense before I realised it was repeated static shocks. My wife had a go and immediately put it down say she couldn't use it.

I suspect the unit should be operated with the wheels touching the ground to earth the product rather than vacuuming just above the surface. I didn't have the same problem with the older model and I didn't bother to read the operating instructions as I was disappointed with the debris trail being left behind as I vacuumed our patio.

I had a quick look online to see whether mine was an isolated experience before getting confirmation there appears to be some design issues with the product. I have returned the product and Bunnings staff were good enough to offer a refund. I'm now searching online for a better reviewed product.

Terrible product – This is obviously a Bunnings exclusive, and for that, Bunnings should be ashamed of themselves for letting a totally useless product like this to make it onto their shelf. RYOBI blower vac was fantastic. By contrast, this RYOBI is absolutely awful.

I’ve had it a couple of years now and every time I use it I promise myself I’ll take it back to Bunnings and have a dummy spit.

For starters, it’s just way too big and cumbersome. They knew this when they designed it so they put a couple of pathetic wheels underneath so you can wheel it around.

I have three main gripes with this unit.

My old RYOBI had a leaf bag that clicked/snapped onto the unit. It had a nice hard plastic housing that allowed this.

This unit has a pathetic rubber housing that you kind of have to awkwardly slide over a piece of tubing and then clamp from the other side. It’s not very secure at all and keeps unhitching spilling leaves and rubbish.

The other thing that’s infuriating is when in vacuum mode (which isn’t very good either) it will suck away and when you stop it coughs up a little pile of debris that you have to suck up again. It sometimes does this even while it’s sucking such is the poor strength of the vacuum.

Finally the zip on the collection bag is a poor quality and keeps getting stuck when you’re trying to open OR close the bag.

Judging by the majority of other reviews here, I’m not alone with my low opinion of this product.

Shame on you Bunnings for selling this product and shame on RYOBI for a truly awful blower vac.

Terrible vacuum, won't suck bigger leaves – So it will pickup one leaf at a time, the minute you start picking up more then 1 or 2, it block the pipe and you have to manually push the leaves in. Brought at Bunnings on Saturday and returned to Bunnings on Sunday – This blower looked great. On first use found it to be heavy, needed to use ear muffs, the machine would take twice the time to clean up leaves from the 10 year old Ryobi one I had. The bag was awkward to remove and zipper blocks, the suction was poor and produced lots of fine dust. This machine has poor design and not well be engineered. Ryobi blower/vac - RBV2400ESMP - don't buy this – Bought mine at Bunnings - and have various Ryobi battery tools (won't consider any more now). Ryobi marketing of this plug in electric Blower/Vac makes a big deal of the unit having a stainless steel impeller, the problem is its held onto the shaft by a nylon nut which deforms (turning force) and then allows the impeller to go out of balance (vibration) rendering the unit useless. Pretty bad design IMO.  Show details

Not the best tool in the shed – I have had this Blower/Vac about six months. I use it regularly but it died today. Previous Ryobis I have had (Three) lasted a couple of years each. After replacing it a couple of times, I just wrapped it in roadies tape. The zipper hemoraged a few times scattering debris everywhere. I also cable tied the bag on to prevent it falling off which was a nusience every time the bag had to be emptied the cable tie had to be replaced.

I also had to shorten the tube that blows leaf litter into the bag to prevent it blocking.

It was the noisiest & heaviest of the four blower vacs I have owned. The plug often fell from my extension cord despite the supplied retainer so I always cable tie the cord to the machine.

This was a really bad machine. So bad that I will never buy another Ryobi Product. I also own a cordless grass trimmer.

Don't get me started on that ☹️

Very poor quality – I bought this blower vac from Bunnings and when I used the vac option, the shredded leaf litter blew out from the top of the bag onto the verandah and made a big mess. The bag does not seal properly where it meets the main body. Quality control is seriously lacking, the unit does not perform the vac function at all. The unit's power plug kept falling out of the extension lead also, my old blower vac never did this.  Show details
