We have two of these and have used them with our grandchildren. It’s always puzzled me that even though we have carefully followed the installation instructions and securely tethered it to the fitting in the car, you still seem to be able to manually pull the back of the child seat forward away from the car seat. It’s not firmly wedged against the car seat back. We’ve assumed that in the event of an accident the car seat belt would take over and hold everything in place. Is this correct?

Mine is also like this, Ive been trying to look on laws regarding the anchored tether strap and cant seem to find out. I was told in Qld that we are allowed to use the booster seats that dont have a anchored tether strap. But if you are worried you can see if a professional car seat fitter might be able to help you.

Thankyou Chloe. I think I’ll try talking to Britax first and then if still in doubt will check with a car seat fitter and see what they say.

What is the use by date for this seat... is it 10 years

1 answer

Support C.Britax Safe-n-Sound

Hi Carolyn, thanks for your question. Our recommendation on the lifespan is anything 10 years or older should not be used. We recommend replacement at 10 years, due to deterioration of the plastics used in the construction of modern restraints. A seat may have become brittle over time, and simply will not provide the same level of protection against impact. Older child restraints may not contain all the safety features of the latest Australian Standard. Kind regards, the Britax Safe-n-Sound team.

I was told by kid safe that it is illegal to put a child under 4 years old in a booster seat. These booster seats have shoulder height markers where the child shoulders must reach to be safe. If you do a quick google you will see that the laws required children under 4 years to be in car seats and 4-7 years in booster seats.

WA have the department of transport that detail the requirements. You may want to check with your state transportation department for the requirements. https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/seats-and-seat-belts.asp

Hi Sal, thanks for your question. The road rules state;

Birth to 6 months
• Approved rear facing child car seat.
6 months to 4 years
• Approved rear or forward facing child car seat.
4 to 7 years
• Approved forward facing child car seat or booster seat.

Hi I'm considering buying 2nd hand 2015 SG hi linear booster seat but want to use a protecta has ness strap for it. When I ask the seller if the seat is suitable fir harness strap she said no it's only seat belt booster seat. No harness holes.
Could this be wrong and she doesn't know what she's talking about? When I read up on the harness suitability the 2015 hi linear should be able to use the harness strap. Do holes need to be cut to accomodate the new straps?
Also how hard/easy is the harness straps to take on and off each car ride? I watch u tube video and it seems complicated? Thanks

Hi, my daughter is 142cm and she uses the Hi-Liner. She's got it set one notch less than the maximum so I think it will last her until she's slightly taller than 145cm

I have just purchased a hi-liner series number 4820/A/2004 secondhand, of course ... I didn't realise it was quite so old and that it was also purchased secondhand by the woman I purchased it from (she had written on the book that she had purchased off e-bay in 2012). Is this booster seat recognised as being safe by Australian standards and also is it possible to purchase a new cover for the seat? Thank you.

Hi, we recently bought this booster seat to fit into our new Volkswagen Golf R (latest model). We found that compared with the old baby car seat, the anchor point on the seat is a lot lower in the booster, and when anchoring to the car, it is difficult to tighten the slack, so the seat has some give. Are we doing something wrong? Should this be compatible with the car? Thanks for your help,
Anne
