Defective and unsafe
After my first daughter passing away from medical negligence in 2019, I'm super careful with brands I select for my second daughter. I thought buying a Britax I would have the safety guarantee that I wouldn't have any concerns, however after having a continuous issues with the belt not tightening to the point where my daughter was able to get her arm out I contacted Britax Customer Service team on two different occasions and I was assured by the Britax customer service team they would replace or refund after I sent a video. However, I received ...a ridiculous call saying there was nothing wrong from Britax's position despite the constant safety issue which was visible via videos and Baby Bunting staff witnessed the fault yet the Britax Customer Service team and assessor are not willing to assist further. I do not recommend!!!
Purchased in October 2020 at Baby Bunting for $299.00.
Disappointed & unsafe
I am very dissatisfied with this capsule, the straps that sit across my babies thighs did into him making him uncomfortable & his head always flops forward regardless of adjusting the angle that it's set at. This concerns me quite a bit to the point I have now had to purchase another seat due to safety concerns of his head flopping so far forward that I am concerned it will restrict his airways or break his neck with sudden impact. I thought this was meant to be a safe seat for our babies & I feel it's extremely dangerous with my experience
Purchased in July 2019 at Baby Bunting for $298.00.
Seriously concerned about safety for baby
My seat was purchased 2 months before my son was born & professionally installed. At 7 weeks, his head fell forward during a 20 minute car ride. His airways were compromised and when I got him out of the capsule (immediately upon arriving home) he had a fit/seizure from what drs have told me was shock after oxygen returned to his body. I am alarmed to see how many other parents have concerns about young children's head placement in this capsule. We are very lucky that no permanent damage was done but now I am seriously concerned about taking m...y child in the car. I have tried to contact Britax's customer service by phone to discuss this but was not able to get through. Very disappointed to have spent $400 on a product that does not appear to be safe to use.
I regret buying this capsule. It was installed professionally. But It's too heavy/impractical, the harness is temperamental to tighten and gets caught which is difficult to secure firmly, the angle of the capsule allows the baby's head to flop forward/there is inadequate head support and the straps dig into the baby's thighs, pinching and leaving pretty severe red marks on the thighs that hang around for a long time. I am convinced it makes sleeping in the car difficult for my baby. I have used this capsule for two babies now and each time I took it out after a few weeks. Really disappointing to be honest. Love the brand. Hate the capsule.
I wouldn’t recommend this capsule to anyone. We thought the click and go system would be great for when baby is sleeping but it’s just not practical. The tether is a hassle every time you want to get the seat in or out and it’s just too heavy when baby is strapped in which a lot of mothers need to be careful of after birth.
The thermo material didn’t seem to work well as my baby was always hot and damp from sweat. The seat belt cut into his thighs and couldn’t be adjusted. It also didn’t seem to support his head when he slept.
The only good...
Terrible design, not the best for comfort.
Capsule weighs a ton compared to the US equivalent which we were given for second hand use. The only thing convenient about this was the fact that you could just pull it out of the car and straight onto the pram (but was still a challenge due to the weight with a baby in there).
Some other items which weren't too great were:
1. Terrible sun canopy design. You slide in onto the side of the carry handle and gets in the way of the sidewall and the carry handle itself! You could not adjust one without retracting the other.
2. Belts are poorly ...
Absolutely Hated It!
I bought the unity to go with my bugaboo. I have a 2015 VW Tiguan and it absolutely won't install correctly in the back. Even trained people couldn't make it sit correctly. My four-month-old son falls forward in it because there is virtually no recline. Don't be fooled by the images you'll find of this capsule - once installed, the base must be at such a tilt that the seat is almost upright. Definitely not ideal!!
I originally bought this capsule over the Maxi Cosi Mico for the extra life that the unity was going to give (5 months in the Mico v 12 in the unity) but I honestly stopped using this as a travel system two months ago and already want to move my son out of it at four months. Wish I'd bought the Mico. Hated this!!
Too Heavy and Hot also Not suited for moulded car seats
Capsule itself is far too heavy and has far too much "unbreathable" padding which caused our baby to constantly overheat and sweat horrifically. Took capsule to plunket nz to get it installed by their trained car seat installer and she advised that the capsule was not ideal as straps weren't even and padding around bubs could cause heatstroke. It also didn't fit our cars seats properly either and needed a towel proped underneath (plunket suggested this was unsafe and to get bubs in her carseat asap) Not britax fault, but would only consider purchasing if your seats were flat and not shaped to fit the body. Would be ok for cooler seasons and for those with good upper arm strength... useless for woment recovering from c sections.
So many frustrating things about this product
For starters the base is IMPOSSIBLE to get level in the back seat. The metal buckle behind the capsule that holds the straps together gets caught all the time. There isn't enough space for it to travel through the plastic form and makes it so that one strap is tighter than the other. The canopy ALWAYS pops off and doesn't sit straight. The gap between the largest two heights for the upper straps is too large. My baby is too tall for the lower level but the next one up is way too high. Very poorly designed seat.
I wanted to love this infant carrier. For the price, it should have been great. Instead, I found it poorly designed. The sunshade constantly popped off, and wouldn't raise/lower without dragging on the fabric of the car seat. The straps never pull out evenly and always snag underneath. I tighten the straps and end up with one too loose and one too tight. The straps also fit way too tightly across the baby's legs and always leave a mark on his skin. I think this is because the lower buckle doesn't come out far enough. The little elastic...holders for the metal buckles don't actually hold the buckles, they just slip right back out. The rubber tread on the underside popped out and broke. And I understand that all rear-facing capsules come with an anchorage strap that has to be added and removed every time the capsule is moved, but why is that? It is so inconvenient. My baby is 7 months now and has outgrown this capsule. So the "birth to 12 months" selling point is really only if you have a very small baby.

What reviewers thought
Reviewers appreciated that the product was easy to use, compact in size to suit most vehicles and was easy to connect to a compatible stroller. The capsule may be on the heavy side and the installation can be a little tricky.
