Can be heavy
Handy, but not worth the price
Bought this capsule because I liked that it should last longer and it has the click-n-go system. Well, my daughter is not even 4 months old and she's hit the height marker. Granted she is a bigger than average baby, but she's not a giant, so I'm disappointed that it doesn't have the longevity it promises (apparently other mum's I've spoken to have had the same problem). The capsule is also very heavy to lift and move around, even without baby in it, which isn't great when you're still recovering from birth. The installation was overly complicat...ed, and the instructions were not clear at all - even the fitter said he hates installing them because they're so fiddly and they never sit right. Much like other mum's, I found the harness dug into her thighs and made her quite uncomfortable, and the thermo-5 just made her overheat. Overall, I'm quite disappointed in this capsule and I won't be using it again when we have another baby.
Purchased in July 2018 at Baby Bunting Physical store for $298.00.
Don’t give up on the capsule too soon
I had a similar experience to Bek with the capsule initially. When it was installed according to the manufacturers guideline straight onto the seat at the angle they recommended it was terrible. There were a few times I thought I’d broken the baby’s neck as her head flopped so far forward at a such an awkward angle while she was sleeping. When I took it to Baby Bunting to have them check the installation they told me they almost always ignore the angle line and install the capsule somewhere between 40-50degrees. This involved the use of a few t...owels to prop it up into a better position. If you have this capsule and are having the same issues, I’d highly recommend getting it professionally installed. You can also buy a newborn insert that will help cushion their head a bit more if you have a tiny baby like I did. I actually feel much safer and really like the capsule now. Positive points are that it’s very convenient and clips nicely into the pram and the baby seems to love it. I do find the straps dig into her thighs too and I haven’t worked out how to adjust them yet but she doesn’t seem bothered by them. Overall it’s a pretty good capsule. I don’t know if the other ones on the market would be any different. The man who installed my capsule said that most of them have the same problem with the installation angle and that Britax was one of the better ones available.
Says it is suitable for approx birth-12months. How could any 12 month old baby fit in this capsule? My son outgrew it by 4 months old! (He is a larger baby- maybe about the size of an average 6 month old) but still, 4 months. Totally not worth the money

Its ok not the best
Not that easy as often i have fix the hood. It is compatible with my car and pram with an adapter. Not so easy to install and leaving untidy belt. My baby did fit securely but didnt look comfy particularly after the hip braces fitted on. Overall it is ok but wishes that i purchase another product that has practicl hood and rain cover attached.

Nice but not a necessity
We hired the capsule (April 2013 model) for 1st bub and personally didn’t think the capsule was necessary for us.
- handy when bub is sleeping
- easier for my hubby to get her in and out of seat as he is very tall it’s harder for him to get her in when the capsule is already in the car
- easy to get in and out of car
- no attachment for my pram (reds baby jive)
- I don’t like the material, it’s a velvet fabric so gets really hot. Not ideal when we are going into summer. In looking at newer models I think they have changed the fabric to something lighter? ...
Did it's job with a few quibbles
I usually only review things I love and potentially would review something I would warn people off buying. This capsule isnt in either camp but since I reviewed my new baby seat I thought I'd complete the picture.
This has been our first capsule so nothing to compare it to. It has done its job.
I have found the harness loosening apparatus not that easy to use and getting our wriggling baby in and out has always been a chore, a few times one side of the harness has come undone, My fault but again not helped by increased difficulty.

Solid but cumbersome and heavy
I bought this capsule in 2013 mainly because of it's compatability with the Mountain Buggy Swift. While I appreciated the convenience of this capsule with my first baby - I always felt it was really heavy and the capsule release latch would sometimes be sticky when removing from the base. It's a sturdy unit. However with my second baby I've found these issues to be even more an issue since the need to carry the capsule with a toddler in tow has proven to be extremely hard work. I also find that the infant insert is almost pointless as its barely a head support and with out it there is little padding for the infants back and bottom. I've since tested other capsules that are much lighter, more slim line and feel more comfortable to carry.
OK, Does the job
Nice capsule. Does what it's supposed to do - protect the baby. I like it that I could take it in and out of car without waking baby and snap it in place on my pram with the travel system adapter (the sole reason I bought this particular model). Generally I found it a little heavy and unfortunately once my baby became a couple of months or more this feature was a little useless as he weighed too much to want to take in and out of car with him in it, especially as in order to get it in or out of car (if positioned in the middle of car) it can...be pretty awkward and difficult with a heavy weight in it. Nice neat design but I found the wrap around strap a little cumbersome but maybe this is just standard. Sometimes the clasps on the bottom would get stuck and I'd have to pull them into place to ensure it was secure - this isn't so safe as someone else unfamiliar with it would perhaps not ensure it's installed correctly. This happened mainly when installing on top of pram (using travel system bracket) rather than in the car, so perhaps this doesn't have to do with Britax as much as the pram manufacturer. Newborn insert was good for the first month or so but can become hot/sweaty around baby if warm weather. The material overall seemed breathable and durable. Handle was good though could be more ergonomic and the two handed 'button' on each side to move it forward out of the way is really hard to use - especially once it's in place in the car. It's tempting just to leave it up because it's so difficult to move but I understand that's not how it should be used. Straps good and easy to adjust. I like the way it tightens and releases and wish more car seats used this same design. Sun visor is awkward, flimsy and a waste of space - shame because everyone I know has to improvise with some sort of muslin shawl or something - why don't manufacturers come up with better sun shades!!?? Stylish and generally very practical. A bit too heavy, handle hard to move.
Could be better
I used the capsule for 6 months with average size baby. The height still fitted my son but the straps were way too tight around the crotch.
I love the convenience of not needing to wake baby and using it as a rocker and safer than carrying baby in arms.
The sun canopy is great especially being able to turn it to the front of the capsule to block sun.
It was quite heavy compared to other models.
The tether strap was fiddly.
Sometimes it needed a jiggle to get it out of the base. The base was very wobbly and had to be careful other kids di...
Not as safe as I first thought
I bought the Unity as I wanted a capsule that would fit into a pram easily and also a safe rear-facing child restraint that would last close to 1 year.....this hasn't quite lived up to my original thoughts.
The capsule clips into my Valco trimode (I bought an adaptor for the pram) and has been terrific to be able to transport a sleeping baby from pram to car and car to home. It clips into the car well. The overstrap is a bit fiddly though. The fabric is soft and looks good. Nice big sun shade.
My son is now 8.5 kg ( 8 months) and needs a new ...
Note on compatiblity for city elite with new unity capsule
Just found out that the new 2012 unity - is different to the old in that it doesn't have the capsule adaptor at the back of the capsule- its now blocked off. So some pram/stroller companies don't have the adaptor to suit the new one just yet, we have the city elite from baby jogger and they don't have the adaptor in stock and avail until end of 2012- not much use to us now
Capsules are really handy for newborns in that you can avoid taking out the pram and keep the little one asleep after a car ride. This capsule is quite expensive though, so hiring is usually a better option when it can only be used for 8-12 months usually. The main thing I'd say is to be careful to get the base securely fitted to the car and sitting flat so the capsule isn't too upright.
12kg weight limit (compared to 9kg for many other capsules and some car seats), slimline compared to SNS old style capsule. Compatible with prams.
Moving carry handle position is awkward. Quite heavy. Fitting the base into the car isn't the easiest, and it isn't as secure and stable as other capsules
I bought it with a travel system, and I think without a travel system I would have used it much much less due to its weight. I wasn't completely sold on the matching Steelcraft stroller, but there are now a number of different brands that have car seat attachments to take the Unity, so I was able to buy another stroller I preferred.
Great for transferring sleeping baby. Also great as a rocker. Good sun canopy. Comfy looking padded insert for newborn baby. You can also get a second car seat base, which would have been very handy but I didn't find this out until too late!
Heavy and awkward to carry by itself.
Might make more sense to by this one if you have the matching stroller, if not I would research something lighter.
Safe and secure, comfortable for baby
Extremely heavy especially with the baby inside! Very awkward to remove out of the car (the button is hard to press at the angle you need to!). You most certainly would not be carrying it very far.
The unity is a great car restraint that allows babies to be rearward facing up till 12 kilos. With lighter babies the ability to remove the capsule from the car is great but as the baby grows the unit is too heavy to carry.
Baby can stay in rearward facing position till 12 kilos. The seat is really comfortably padded and the harness is adjusted very easily. The hood helps to sheild the baby from the sun and toys can be hung from the handle to amuse the babu while in the car.
The unit is a bit heavy to take in and out so I generally leave it in the car. The fabric stains very easily, even from dribble it gets water marks so it needs to be washed a lot.
Questions & Answers
Which adapter do I need for it to fit the steelcraft accent stroller? I've watched videos of it being attached without adapters but when I try it's very unstable
