Samsung AU8000 Series Questions & Answers
VerifiedHelp our home button on remote just stopped working. Did all resetting of buttons and tv. Every button is working except home button so we cannot access any streaming channels.
Hey, sorry hear about this.Could you please provide me the Proof of Purchase, full model code and Serial number of your TV which can be found on the compliance plate. Just send a clear picture of the compliance plate along with the Proof of Purchase, and we'll see what we can do with sending you a remote. Gilbert
It was a great TV but the screen has now gone black on both sides and you can only see part of the picture in the middle purchased in May 2021 and died today 08/08/23 :( not impressed at all...
Hey Blair, I would suggest getting your unit looked at by one of our Authorized Service Centre's. To do so please visit external link to locate your nearest service centre. If your unit is within warranty, I would suggest contacting Samsung and requesting an assessment via them first.
Kind Regards,
Brian

you didn't read my comments, Brian. It is now 2 years old with NO Warranty, but all reviews suggest that they should last at least 4-8 years. Plus as per the other reviews I have read it is stuffed very common issue by the looks of it. Time to look at a LG TV I think?
Hey Blair, I have read and understand your comment. If your unit is out of warranty my advice of contacting a service centre still stands. They may be able to offer you a solution for your problem. Kind Regards,
Brian

Does this model tv have to be plugged into an aerial socket?
I cannot remove weak or no signal message, I want to use the tv with google chrome to cast
Hey Adrienne, if you're getting a weak/no signal error, please see page 182 of the User Manual under "support" in the below link: external link
You should be able to plug a ChromeCast to your TV, however we suggest double checking it's specifications to ensure it is compatible with your TV.

Can I connect a PVR to this tv
In some cases you may not even need to buy a PVR – the majority of modern smart TVs have a PVR function built-in. To make use of it you'll need a USB hard-drive or memory stick, which then plugs into one of the USB ports on the TV.
Hi Kim! Just like Mulloes, your model TV does support program recording. For more info on how to do this, please see our user manual under "support" from page 92. external link
If you do wish to connect a PVR, we suggest checking that product's specifications to ensure it is compatible with your TV!

I have recently purchased a Samsung UA55BU8000WXXY 55 inch Crystal UHD 4K Smart tv to replace an older Samsung 60 inch smart tv which has developed a shadow that varies in size.
The remote for the 60 inch is user friendly and a lot of people seem to have problems adapting to the new remote provided with this later model. Is it possible to use the old remote on the new purchase.
I haven’t used the older remote before and I doubt it would work on the newer model. I still think the newer remote is worth pursuing. Try setting up the voice control. Then you can hold button on remote and say ‘Netflix’ or live tv, or channel 70 or volume 15, or turn off etc. the remote has all the features, ie to mute you press the volume button down, there is no separate button for mute.
Thanks Steven, will do, fortunately I am having a tv installer set my new tv up so I am sure he will fill me in.
Samsung AU8000 UA65AU8000WXXY (65") Can I record with a 32 USB stick for recording my tv shows. Thank you.
The ability to record is region specific. It is called ‘Extended PVR’. The 55” AU8000 purchased in Australia does not have this function, even though it is in the user manual. Check the specs list in your country. Also, I think you need a usb hard drive, not a usb stick.
Is this a "Google TV"
I'm not sure, I don't have wifi or internet connected to the tv. Maybe ask samsung they could answer your question.
Awesome Carolyn. Do you know why ppl who dont know the answer to question feel compelled to say so?
Youre not the only one.
Hi Neil. It is a smart tv and you need a Samsung account to link it. I created one when I bought it. Not sure of the answer about Google TV as I’m an Apple user and it still links to screen mirror.
I hope this is helpful
Thx Miallo.
Its not a google TV, it run on Tizen OS
Hello, What sort of PVR does the AU8000 have?
Can you record a channel, and watch something else?
Cheers
After buying one, this TV does NOT have PVR.
Its a good TV, but no PVR.
Plug in a fast USB thumb drive and record from the TV as a PVR
2021 au 8ooo do you take off protective film,as color has washed out look.
Chris
Take the film off, HD is good.
NO! The film is NOT supposed to be taken off and will ruin the picture quality if you do. Easy mistake, as so many screens come with a "protective' film. This ISN'T one of them.
still no definative answer to my question
Can you record live tv on this model? I use this function on my old samsung via the usb so really want this option.
Chad, Yes... it has the ability to record live TV.
Is this TV compatible to be mounted on a swivel arm wall bracket?
Yes, according to Samsung "Slim Fit Wall-Mount accessory (sold separately) helps your TV to hang beautifully on the wall, leaving minimal space between.* Gorgeous from all angles, your TV can fit elegantly into your living room". Please contact Samsung for more information.
Hi I just bought Samsung AU8000 43 i have no problem with it my question is does it have a clock on it. my last TV when you changed channels it would tell you the time and what was on
Yes it has a clock display next to the information about the channel or source you are on like HDMI 1,2,3. I think you can make is either 12hr or 24hr based on preference. It’s a very good TV.
Is it worth buying it? I was planning to buy the TU8000 until this suddenly showed up. Is there much difference? especially for gaming?
P.S: The reason I wanted to buy the TU8000 is for my PS5.
Thank you!
Hi Ben
I've had a chat with some guys at JB Hifi and they seemed very helpful, I recommend that you catch up with them too
for gaming, as long as the TV is 100 Hz, it's good but apparently the TU series were not perfect for gaming, but Samsung has tried to improve it in AU series this year
so definitely go for AU compared to TU
but in general, and particularly about PS5, AU series are not the best option especially if you watch sports or action movies and play actions games which require super fast response from your TV, but still does the job
FYI: I'm still thinking of AU series, QLED's and even LG OLED's
This series of TV is considered a budget/entry level TV. It will support most of your needs for gaming, movies and streaming but it won't have access to the top of the line features like 120fps gaming. It does support essentially everything else though. Its got an OK response time of 9.5ms in game mode which is good across most models of TV's. If this is your price range then this is the best you can get.
Thank you all for the responses! Very appreciated it.
Buy the fastest screen you can afford for gaming, it makes SOOOO much difference, especially for driving and shooting games.
