excessive mobile data usage
My wife and I upgraded from a Samsung j1 and Nokia 3 respectively. Since the switch using "Samsung smart switch", we have encountered on both phones an excessive usage of mobile data. We DON'T use FB, twitter,insta, email, google, chrome, maps or ANY OTHER APPS except phone calls and SMS. We have NOT INSTALLED any third party apps. If we switch on Mobile data, the usage is over 1 Megabyte / minute. WE got in touch with phone support at Samsung, and the heavily accented responder just tried to go through a cheat sheet. She did not listen to wh...at the problem was and looks like she had no real understanding as she even suggested we get in touch with OPTUS, our provider. She did not grasp the point that we have used the OPTUS on many iterations of mobile phones for over the last TWENTY YEARS and it is only with these phones that we have encountered this behavior. I did the system upgrade to android 9, my wife's phone is still on Android 8. we have the identical problem. It was suggest to switch to safe mode, and I did that. The result was that as soon as I switched on Mobile data, usage started clicking over like a taxi meter. I switched back to nomal mode, still the same problem. It was suggested to do a factoty reset, but My wifes phone is in straight form factoty mode, no changes, no apps. I have checked Samsung FAQ, no help. Searching internet does not seem to have a solution. It appears that this was a BAD purchase.

Love this phone and will surely miss it
Researched phones for quite some time before coming across the Samsung galaxy J5 Pro. And what I saw with specs mixed with looks and affordability, I knew I wanted this phone,
Finally brought it in March 2018 after a year + of research and wanting it.
It has been the best phone.
I did Everything I needed with no issues until today when I dropped it face down on tiles.
The screen went black, flickered when I pressed the home button (now nothing) and now rings, receives messages etc but I cant access anything.
So now its a black screened unusa...
First Galaxy phone
Went to the Galaxy J5 Pro after being with another brand (i) hint.Found the galaxy phones better and smother to use.I upgraded to the A50 after about 5 months use,because of problem with SIM card in the J5 after salesperson told me it was phone ,just for a sale I think, but both phones are working great and no problem with the phones will stay with Galaxy from now on , love the styles ,the pictures they take , easy to us,plus the apps .

Only lasted me 3 months
I bought this phone in June and was pretty happy with it. It was easy to use and worked well. Three months later the screen developed a purple smudge which started to spread to a large black 'bruise' that covered the whole screen.
I took it to a Samsung repair outlet and they told me I would have to pay $200 as it needed a new screen, not covered by warranty. He said he could see tiny cracks that meant the damage was my fault. The phone cost me $300, so spending that much money on it doesn't make sense. I've had to just get rid of it. I h...ad a sturdy case (wallet style) and screen protector on my phone since day one, and I wasn't rough with it, so I don't understand how the screen was damaged so easily. I'm now very reluctant to buy another Samsung as it seems to me the screens and electronics are not protected enough. The Samsung man said this is not an uncommon problem with this phone and other phones such as the A20. What a waste of money and resources. **Communicated with a Samsung representative before posting this review. After a long wait they told me I should take my phone to a Samsung service centre. They're not interested in helping.
I bought the phone for a month before it started to show trouble with switching it on and at times the screen would go black. Finally the phone screen went black and I couldn't see anything on the phone. I returned it to the Good Guys Cairns where I bought it and they sent it to the Samsung Warranty Service only to return it to me the same. I paid $279 for a phone I only used a month. They would not replace it or repair it.
Phone 3 months old. Won't work and bad service
My phone is only 3 months old. Can't use it. Have had 4 technicians run me through ways to get it to work without any result. I use my phone for work and can't go without it. Samsung technician said to me "well you went without your phone today because it wasn't working so what is wrong with going with out it for a few weeks!" I have to agree to allow Samsung to put second hand parts into my phone before they will repair it.
Stopped working at 3 weeks
I bought this at JBHIFI and everyone knows they are the worse when you try to return something.
Started failing at 3 weeks of buying. Dropped reception, sent it to repair 2 times (everyone knows that this days it is a nightmare to delete everything from your phone and have to put everything back). In samsung they said it didn’t have anything, while it has a clear fail kn the software. When it failed for third time I had a car accident and the PHONE DIDNT LET ME CALL AN AMBULANCE!!! I went to tell all this to JBHIFI and they told me that because the phone had a small chip in the corner caused by the accident, they could not give me my money back.
When making calls constantly line is poor quality
Had 10 Samsung phones love Samsung but this call quality is shocking.... will be buying a different phone simply doesn't work....Very disappointed. Feels good looks good and everything else good but what use with such poor call feature quality...

We are a Samsung family... All phones... laptops..TVs. My son Samsung J5 broke after 2 years ... he was waiting for an interview phone call... went into JB Hifi and ask for the exact same phone. Turned out they gave me a Pro. Bought a screen protector and case. 1 week later... Nothing!!! Completely dead. went back to JBH and they replaced it, but wouldn't refund on the screen protector... Now...1 month after... Exactly the same has happened... Don't buy a J5 Pro

Camera quality is very poor
Very disappointed with the Galaxy J5 Pro camera quality. I don't take selfies, and general subjects are not good but ok, but landscapes/distance photos are terrible quality. With previous Samsung phones, I've been able to use images in high quality hardcopy, but that's impossible with this phone. Don't bother.

Happy with the price. Battery life is tops. Video & camera issues are frustrating. Losing image quality is annoying. Yes I have taken plastic off the lens. What is the issue?

Downhill after update !
Bought my first smartphone, a Samsung J5 pro, 24th Oct 2018 from
JB HiFi and have to say that I've been fairly happy with it overall, easy to use, camera good and reasonable task speeds. Problems started 8 months later after downloading a software update. After 2 days things started slowing down, taking forever to do the simplest tasks, then the screen gradually got darker to the point of not being able to see anything, couldn't smart switch my data so lost it all. Took it to a Samsung outlet and they sent it off to a Samsung customer care cen...
So happy with my j5 pro, great mb and i always gets updated regularly. I defs recommend this mb to others, great speed good quality camera and lots of storage
Underrated brilliant (for the price tag)
Great phone, responsive, battery life has been great and everything just works. Very happy! Great phone. Too bad it has micro usb, but everything else is brilliant for the price. Feels premium and looks classy. Thanks!!

IT WILL BREAK, must be faulty, never had issues with a Samsung (this is my 4th Samsung!)
I WAS a Samsung loyal, not anymore! I bought not one, but TWO J5 PRO'S as a dropped my first (nothing crazy, a very insignificant drop) and turned it around to find a smashed screen despite my screen protector. So I bought another one, got a screen protector and solid case...another minor drop and it STILL cracked!! It MUST BE FAULTY and they are covering it up because all my previous Samsung phones have had HUGE drops and NEVER broke! The scam is, the price of fixing it is nearly the same price as a whole new phone. $189! Ridiculous! It is a scam and the phine must be faulty, all my other Samsung's were fine, the only reason I got a new ome was more storage space. DO NOT BUY...FAULTY...WILL BREAK!
Dud product with known technical issues
Bought a J5 Pro based on good reviews for the product. 4 days later I'm still waiting for it to fully charge. Also problems with switching it on. Has been plugged in charging 24/7 for 4 days and still only 40% battery capacity. Rang Samsung who instructed me to return to place of purchase. Unfortunately my telco have transfered all my data onto this new phone, so I'm going to have to do this all again. Very inconvenient to have to trek back up to the Good Guys again, and be without a functioning phone for another week. I will rethink buying another Samsung mobile.
Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro is a useless paperweight now.
Do not buy this phone, It will not last 6 months (if your lucky) before the screen/display fails. I read the reviews and comments about this phone having a weak screen and would not stand up well when handled roughly or bumped about. Well i thought, I'll be fine, I'll get a case and take good care of it. 4 months later it crapped itself, phone is like new, no marks ,no scratches never been dropped, sat on or handled roughly in anyway. Did an update a few days ago and the next day the screen is unreadable, LCD has failed. This phone cannot stand...up to normal wear and tear & everyday use. In my opinion it's not of acceptable quality, not fit for purpose and should not be sold as is. I spoke to my local samsung service centre who were less than helpful, got out a torch and a magnifying glass and found a hairline crack about 3 mm long in the lcd under the screen. They claimed the screen must have been stressed or stood on. Well i know the phone has only been subjected to normal use and definitely not stood on , its mint condition. Would not budge, no goodwill gestures, just wanted $180 to fix the screen. Don't throw your money away on this phone when you won't get any support from samsung. My house is full of samsung stuff, been very happy, but no more. End of Rant, feel better now, you have been warned!
J5Pro has conversations and contacts. Nothing is private as after a few words on contacts it automatically goes into Conversations

Smartphone and very functional
I am satisfied with my new phone, it is very functional easy to use and sleek and very stylish in black. I was looking for something mid-range and this phone fits my criteria very well, love it., is ti great, would recommend it.
The phone is disappointing, the camera is good with closeups, but further away is just crap.
Also when receiving a call by the time you swipe the code and get rid of the advertisements, the caller has given up.
