samsung smart watch is basically only good for looking at the time. Apps are garbage and heart rate monitor does not give a weekly data graph anymore. Be prepared to keep a physical journal for any of the health measurements. And how the hell does driving a car count towards steps walked?? Must be still in Flintstones era technology. I love the phones, so, never imagined I would be as disappointed in a Samsung product as I always have been with Apple, but here we are. Do better Samsung, you make enough profit to pay a professional in the field of smart watch tech instead of using the guys who build the washing machine tech.

Battery started to fail after 6 months and completely dead after 15 months. A lot of commentary on line about inability for battery to hold charge. Battery is difficult to procure and replace. Not great value for money.

Great watch when I first got it, but now the touch screen doesn't work and warranty just expired. Watch still sinks with phone, but time is half an hour out after returning to SA from Victoria (phone has correct time and adjusted to the timezone change correctly). I'd expect the watch to last longer considering the price I paid. I won't be buying a Samsung watch again.
Purchased for $520.
The sensor cover on the back fell off. Looks like a flaw with the design as its glued and the adhesive was not holding.
The watch was under warranty and still worked so I assumed Samsung would glue it back and hand it back. The report was water damage and it is cheaper for me to buy another watch rather than repair it. I have never gone swimming with it. They have refused to fix it and this seems to be a common issue. I will not buy another Samsung watch if the sensor is glued. Before you buy one read the reviews...I would not spend 500 for poor design and workmanship
Purchased in April 2019 at Samsung Online store for $480.

I have owned my Samsung galaxy watch R805 for 4 days now, in that 4 days I have spent probably 2 hours trying to get the watch to connect re-connect or pair with my phone, including 1 full reset which takes at least half an hour. The watch has every single permission possible and still it wont reconnect with my phone when the phone was out of range or turned off over night. I put this down to my experience with other Samsung electronic products where they seem to try and make it as difficult as possible to match non-Samsung products. My phone i...
Read mores a 6 month old Nokia smartphone with the latest Android OS, all up to date. I had a Ticwatch Pro and thought it was inferior to the Samsung but boy was I wrong. By comparison the Ticwatch connects flawlessly, probably because they don't care that you're not using a Samsung phone, and other than the lack of a rotating bezel, which I could do without, the Ticwatch pro is far superior AND cheaper. Anyway, if not for the connectivity issues I would probably give the galaxy watch 3 or possibly 4 stars, but when you have to turn the Bluetooth on and off just to get it to connect (at best) then to me this is not acceptable. If you are thinking of purchasing a Galaxy watch and you don't have a Samsung phone, you've been warned. (don't take my word for it, have a look at how many people have connectivity issues on all the online forums). Fortunately, I did not pay the retail price of around $480 as mine was a demo. UPDATE : I've made it 2 stars as the heart rate monitor is absolutely useless, Samsung pay works less than 50% of the time and as you can see for yourself, Samsung support is non existentPurchased in December 2020 at Kogan.com for $280.

Read moreching to get this thing right, that's pretty generous. Still can't get over being told by Samsung Australia that they wouldn't warrant the watch (which when I think about it should have lowered the overall rating back to 2 stars) and also the fact I have to run a 3rd party Bluetooth app to get the watch to connect/re connect without going into settings all the time. To be fair, Dick Smith/Kogan were willing to take the watch back and have it looked at by a Tech, unlike Samsung themselves. Anyway, now that the watch is operating as it should and the battery life is awesome, I am contentUpdate 3 : Samsung pay is useless, less than 50% success rate and they don't recognise the cards of one of the biggest banks in the world, HSBC. I've been using the watch for one year now so I think i'm ready to review it.
In summary: The fairly slim design, easy swap bands, and custom watch faces makes it a very nice watch. But the battery life and functionality leaves a bit to be desired.
The Pro's:
- The call quality is crisp. I can comfortably chat via the watch and the person on the other end has no issue hearing me, and I can hear them clearly. I'ts not something you use for every call, but there have definitely been times where the watch made something much easier by letting me...

I had Samsung Galaxy Gear s3 for 3 years. It started slowing down and the battery didn't hold as well as I'd wanted it too. However, I was so impressed with watches software and apps speed, battery life and ruggedness that I decided to get my next watch from Samsung as well.
The biggest hesitation was what model to buy. Samsung has Galaxy Active 2 and Galaxy Watch. When both of them are almost identical there are significant differences in them. The biggest complaint about Galaxy Active 2 is fragility of the screen and how easily it scratches....

This watch only gets 3 stars because of the price that I got it at, if it was RRP then I would probably drop it down to two stars. The only thing this does better than my Garmin Fenix 5 is message handling and notifications- it's easier to read messages and a much nicer format.

Battery doesn't last very long so you have to choose whether you want it for during the day or to monitor your sleep at night....can't really do both. Other than that it's great. Awesome sound quality and call connections...sometimes it clearer than taking a call on my note 9!

I've had mine for around 10 months or so. My primary reason for a smart watch such as the Galaxy Watch was for fitness tracking. Not so much that it would be religiously tracking what I did and how fast and how often, but to motivate me to be healthier. Basically I enjoy walking/running and swimming so the built-in fitness tracking functions, plus the water-proof ability meant this was perfect for me. (Note: waterproof in fresh water only but this is typical of most smart watches that state they are waterproof)
I have the watch paired to a ...
Read moreSamsung Galaxy Note 8, and from reviews I believe the watch works best with Galaxy Phones. Although it will work with an iPhone, some of the functionality (eg replying to text) is limited; but the if you have an iPhone you'd be getting an iWatch! In terms of accuracy for step counts, distance, heart beat etc, it seems pretty accurate. I used to have a Microsoft Band 2 and comparing both they are much the same. The Galaxy Watch also has an auto-workout detection. Basically if you forget to start an activity on the watch, it will start it for you once it detects you've been doing it for approx. 10 mins. So I can go for a walk or run, and if I forget to start it, the watch will track it for me. I swim often, and the watch will count laps for me as well. It's pretty accurate too. The only it has mis-counted laps is if I've stopped mid-lap (to clear goggles of water!) You can make and receive calls from the watch via a Bluetooth connection to your phone. It's actually come in handy a few times when my phone was the other side of the room; as I could answer on my watch instead.Purchased in September 2018 at Samsung Online store for $549.

Instead of writing a review talking about the tech specs (which you can all easily find elsewhere), I shall try to give an overview of my experience in wearing the watch almost every day for the past 5 months. Also, just as a side note for a bit of context which may be referred to, my smartwatch before this was the Pebble Time.
Design/Interface:
One of the key reasons I bought the watch was due to the fact that it looked like a watch, and that I could realistically wear it in professional settings (something that was unfortunately not possib...
Read morele with my Pebble). On the wrist, assuming you get the size which best matches yours, the watch sits nicely and does not instantly look like a ‘gadget’. I have the watchface set to the always-on mode, which helps with this as well and is something I’d recommend as it does look admittedly odd if you leave it off since there is just a blank black screen visible until you lift your wrist. In my opinion, this aesthetic isn’t worth the extra day of battery life you may net. In terms of its general usability, the Galaxy Watch is extremely intuitive to use and I’ve yet to find myself mistakenly pressing the wrong button or selecting the wrong option. You may have heard about its rotating bezel, and its safe for me to say it lives up to the hype. One recommendation I would make though if you intend to wear the watch in professional environments is to buy a different strap, as the included silicon one feels a bit too ‘sporty’. I should note that it is extremely easy to change straps as the watch uses standard quick release pins so you shouldn’t be too worried about having issues there. Battery:Purchased in December 2018.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch offers alot for a smartwatch. Battery life can go about 4 days without always on display and 2 days with always on display. The rotating bezel is awesome to use and is reliable. I have gone swimming with it many times and it works just fine. All of my notifications show up on my watch. Having the ability to call people from my wrist is a good experience. The speaker is fine, but obviously hard to hear in public. Using bluetooth headphones for calls and music work well.
The main downside of this watch for me is the lack...

Took me a while to buy a smartwatch and was excited by what this one promised, unfortunately it doesn't deliver.
My key conerns relate to why I bought the watch, monitor sleep and for fitness.
Firstly, the heart rate monitor barely works. I did at least 25 workouts, before I sent it back the first time, and not once did it monitor my heart rate for the whole duration of the workout. In fact it battled to do it for about 40% of the activity. May have a lot of different workout settings, but they don't work.

Read morer than the "have you turned on the Bluetooth, Have you reset blah blah blah". They did offer for me to take it into a Samsung repair store AND PAY TO GET IT LOOKED AT!! Yes, that's right, a 1 month old watch that Samsung won't honour the warranty on because it is , and I quote "an overseas model" , apparently Samsung now have a factory in Australia (sarcasm) and won't fix anything built in Korea, LOL. Note that I purchased this watch in Australia from an Australian company
