An Excellent TV
After reviewing a handful of Tv's from LG, Samsung and Sony my final choices came down to the Samsung Q80T, the Sony x95H and x90H TV's, i ended up purchasing the Samsung Q80T due to it actually being alot better than the sony brands when it comes to picture quality and 4k content its an excellent tv from samsung. The reason i did not purchase either of the Sony tv's was due to sony also being a google tv and that was a huge turn off.
Also looked at the LG CX Oled which is a good Tv but burn in is an issue, too probmatic.
Another reason i ...decided to stick with samsung is because my current tv is a samsung 55 inch ES 8000 from 2014, about 14 months after purchasing the ES8000 the tv developed some dead pixels on the screen, i had never dealt with samsung customer service before and after calling them and explaining the issue samsung were fantastic, within 2 days a licenced samsung repairer came to our home and inspected the tv and the next day he returned with a replacement screen, it was a hassel free experience and i thank Samsung for that. Fantastic customer service. I have had no issues with the Q80T, Easy to setup, Fantastic picture, excellent PC monitor and for gaming, 2.1 Hdmi Port, 4K at 120 Hz, VRR, freesync, low latency gaming, 4k HDR content is outstanding and the sound is crisp and clear, samsung tvs were never known for good sound but the Q80 is a huge improvement its very very good. The Q80T doesnt come with dolby vision but does have HDR10 plus. To be honest there is barely any difference between the 2 but HDR10 plus does look brighter and darker scenes do have better contrast. Dolby Vision isnt a deal breaker. Its a well made Tv from samsung if you wanted to spend more money The Q 90T or 95t is an option but the only differences are a bit better HDR and the one connect box, overall there isnt much difference between Q80T and the Q90 Q95 models, just a higher price.

Doesn't support casting!
Can't give a TV 5 stars in this day and age when it doesn't even support casting from a mobile/tablet device.
The TV turns up intermittently as one of the casting options and when it does, it doesn't work.
Even from a Samsung S20 FE also bought in 2020!
Spent hours researching it to find out it supports mirroring only (nowhere near the same thing btw!) via Samsung Smarthings App etc. There's an attempt from Samsung in explaining the difference but it doesn't acknowledge whether they even support casting or not.
https://www.samsung.com/au/s...upport/tv-audio-video/samsung-television-features-screen-mirroring-vs-casting/ Ended up buying a Chromecast in the end to get what should be standard and reliable function in any Smart TV these days. It's great as the HDMI auto-detects the signal when you cast and switches over.

QLED still shines bright.
I use as a pc monitor and tv. The white packaged protection strips caused banding on the edges that went after couple of days. Ran every test on youtube and cannot fault it. Runs games at 120hz x 1440p no problem. Sound is acceptable which is amazing for a tv. I use an optical tos link to an AV amp though, which it auto recognised as well as the fox box. One remote for all, nice.
Only negative is ads on menu bar, i have it disconnected from wifi and only connect when needed. Lost a star there samsung.
Dedicated button on remote for picture mode would be good

Samsung Q80T v Sony X95G
Happy with the TV, sound is really good. No need for a sound bar. It is comparable to Sony's X95G picture quality except for the poor sound of Sony X95. Check it in-store to see the clarity of videos. You'll be blown away by the 60W sound output of the TV.
