You should get these headphones
Initially I was reluctant to spend so much money on headphones, but I’m so glad I bought these and haven’t regretted it once. They are super comfortable (although can get warm and sweaty, particularly in warm climates) and the sound quality is fantastic. When flying or if you just want to block out those around you, the noise cancelling works really well. Battery life is excellent and recharge is fast. Highly recommend.
If you travel... get yourself a pair
I travel quite at a minimum twice a year and quite frankly, I can't fly without a pair of noise cancelling headphones ever again. I picked the Sennheiser over the Bose QC and Sony 1000X mostly since I got these on special but frankly I think they are fantastic.
Noise cancelling is not completely perfect, but definitely will give you a lot more alone time with whatever you're listening to without having to blast your music. Sometimes I have to wear one ear cup resting on my head so I can hear what is going on in the outside world. Audio qual...ity is sufficient and sound profile is warm for extensive hearing sessions. Battery life is very good. Easily covering most of my flights. The functionality to control your music using the side of the ear cup is also very convenient so you don't have to take out your devices out of your bag to control your music. However, it can be very sensitive if you accidentally knock something, sometimes skipping or pausing the music. Auto shutoff feature when you twist one ear cup is also much appreciated. The bluetooth range is also very strong, as I have frequently walking down halfway down the plane leaving my phone in my seat to use the toilets mid flight and the music is not disconnected. it also connected very quickly with previously pair devices once you turn them on.

I tested a few of the other noise cancelling headphones in this price range, but many were quite loose on top and I felt like they would fall off if I turned my head suddenly, however the PXC 550 seem to fit differently, and on me these move around a lot less. I also find that wearing glasses all the time can be a problem with headphones but I can wear these for hours without ever hurting. As far as sound quality, they sound amazing to me, and I really enjoy the experience, but I must admit that when i tried a friends momentums on, that was pro...bably a fraction better, but they were no where near as comfortable for me, so they were not an option I would seriously consider. It took a few days to get used to the touch controls but I love that feature now that I have the hang of it. I had a problem initially with the music pausing all the time for no reason (like everytime I walked through a doorway) but I turned off the talkthrough function and that seems to have solved the problem. I struggled to find a retailer where I could test these before I made my decision, but I am glad I persevered and made the effort as these were definitely the best for me and I love them. I'm so glad I made the investment and moved on from earbuds...there is no comparison other than the size, but since i hardly seem to take them off, that hasn't really been an issue either.

Really like these
I got these with Qantas FF points, and have used them travelling and also to block out the noise of obnoxious workmates. The noise cancelling works great for both. Sound quality is good, with or without NC turned on. Flexibility is great - bluetooth, USB, or traditional 3.5mm - and battery seems to last forever. You can fiddle with settings using a companion iPhone app. Some nice touches like magically automatically pausing when you take them off, and playing when you put them on. Overall, I've been really happy with them.

Bought as a gift
I bought these headphones as a gift to my partner. I tried it on before I bought it - it has a decent amount bass (which was quite important as he listens to a lot of rap and deep vocals). The noise cancelling is quite good but you can still hear small murmurs if there's something significantly loud in the same room. The best thing about these headphones though, is the touch sensitive space on the head gear to (click next, pause, skip etc) It feels like a gimmick at first but when it comes to actual practice, it works flawlessly every time.
The best wireless headphones
I have been using these non-stop for 4 months. They're comfortable with great battery life and the sound is fantastic. I tried the Bose and Sony competitors; the Bose sound is awful in my opinion, and the reason that I chose the 550's over the Sony is that the 550's have a newer version of Bluetooth which can be connected to multiple devices at once. Great buy, I will never regret it.
Perfect everything headphones
I wanted a wireless headphone solution that would easily switch between devices, and these do that with ease. Sennheiser have clearly listened to feedback and made the user interface sooo easy to use now with touch gestures. Sound quality is fantastic, as is using them to make phone calls. They say they go down to 17Hz, and I almost believe it - the bass is strong, tight, and deep. Also I love they way they switch on simply by unfolding them, and vice-versa switching off. And they are so comfy to wear, the earpads are soft and moulding to you own head. Noise cancelling is seamless too. Very happy, great job Sennheiser.

Perfect travel headphones
I previously owned the Sennheiser MM-500Xs and thought they were great. These are another level above. There is really nothing I can fault with them. The sound quality is brilliant and barely degrades with the noise cancelling enabled. The noise cancelling does a great job and doesn't clip in a loud environment (eg on a plane during takeoff). The touch pad can take a bit to get used to and to remember all the functions, but it's a great way to control the phone without taking it out of your pocket. The battery life is excellent. They turn on ju...st by unfolding them and turn off by folding them up again, ensuring the battery doesn't get drained. They pair easily to multiple devices and can be used as a headset to take phone calls. I use these now as my only headphones as they tick all the boxes. If you're on the fence, you owe it to yourself to check them out. They're not cheap, but they are fantastic!

Excellent sound and very decent NC
Was a bit skeptical getting this over the Bose, but the sound quality won me over after listening to both these and the QC35's in the shop. If your not listening to anything, the Bose win by a slight margin, but on a noisy plane, you won't be able to tell the difference. When listening to music however, these win out my a significant margin. The touch controls are great and easy to use, and the bluetooth connects every time.
Best Noise Canceling Headphones
I brought these on a whim before traveling overseas, I wanted to block out the noise of small children while on long haul flights.
They really have great noise cancelling ability. The sound can be controlled by scrolling your finger on the outside of the right ear, and you can flick to the next song sliding your finger from left to right on the right ear. They are the best headphones I've purchased. The sound quality is very crisp. They are quite pricey, but it's a case of you get what you pay for.
A mixed bag
Redeemed these at the Qantas store using my frequent flyer points. The sound quality was very good compared to its main competitor, the Boss QC35. The only thing that I was not happy with was the fact that when the noise cancelling function was in adaptive mode (noise cancelling automatically switches on/off to save battery), there was very discernible clicking noises as the noise cancelling kicks. I had to return it at the end as I couldn't tolerate it.
