Great for grout
I borrowed my mums to clean out my new house grout. The difference was amazing, the grout was black when i moved in now it's almost the original colour.
One thing i will bring up is that the pressure of the steam is constantly fluctuating through a cleaning session.
Apart from that amazing product so far.
Ordinary washing liquid does a better job
I bought the Shark Portable Steam Pocket because I was so impressed with the advert. Well it does not work like it shows on TV, I could do the showers with ordinary dishwashing liquid and it does a better job and it is much quicker too. It didn't shift the mould either. I sent it back. I personally would not recommend it.
The Shark Portable Steam Pocket is a wonderful tool to use around the house, I have had mine for thr
I had to obtain a replacement extension hose for my Shark Portable Steam Pocket, as it would not stay connected, and would pop off in use, from the pressure of the steam, I dont know how it got damaged, however maybe just general use every week, for the last three years, I found the customer service friendly and quick to replace the part. Back in use and I am still happy and highly recommend any Shark product.
excellent - just dont use it directly!
fantastic at sanitising bed linen, pillows and upholsetery - because i am allergic to dust mites, this was the main reason for purchasing the product. It is also great at dusting with all the attachements.
If you want to buy it for direct cleaning, don't bother - it does a very poor job at grout cleaning and around the taps, it just isn't powerful enough.
I am still giving it five stars as it suits my purpose.
Wouldn't recommend for everyday cleaning
I purchased this hoping it would make cleaning easier due to tendonitis in my arm. It hasn't. I find the attachments to large and to long making them difficult to use unless using them on large flat surfaces. Smaller and shorter attachments would be very useful. I have also had problems with the release of the wand, can't do it easly when I'm trying, but then it will release itself whilst I'm cleaning from constant movement and the steam stick flaps about dangerously. Having to hold the streamer in one hand and the rod in the other is annoyin...g. I believe a longer steam cord stream cord is also required. Whilst it does clean using a little eucalyptus oil makes it easier then steam alone in removing dirt, grime and marks. which defeats the purpose of wanting to eliminate using cleaning products. Will use it more as a monthly cleaning product on large surface and kitchen cupboards.
This is a really good product. Cleans and sanitizers with out the need to use chemicals. My house is now completley chemical free and smells so fresh. I find it very quick to use, I can clean the whole kitchen with one pad. Just start with the cleaner surfaces first and move to the dirtier ones latter. I read other reviews about how using a cloth and water is quicker, well using cloth and water does not kill bacteria which is what this is designed to do. It will easily clean up stains but for caked on things it maytake a couple of times scrubbing with the pad to lift.
Easy to use, lots of attachments to work on many surfaces, chemically free cleaning
Cleans all surfaces very well but the grount cleaner is time consuming.
Excellent overall but rubbish at removing mold/soap scum
I rated this 4/5 because I used it mainly to sanitize my wife's soft toys and to 'iron' some of our clothes which works brilliantly. The one star loss was due to the steam reservoir runs out rather quickly, roughly after 3 garments/small soft toys, as well as the time it takes to regenerate steam. If I were using it for what it was advertised for such as toilet & floor cleaning then it's rate it 1/5. It fails to remove any soap scum/mold even though it was set on deep spot clean, with the nozzle aimed directly over the culprit. I personally wou...ldn't use it to replace a good scrub & mop because it runs out quickly, takes a while to regenerate the steam, much heavier compared to a mop, limited cable length & has to be held upright for maximum steam. Effectively sanitize soft toys & irons out wrinkles decently without the hassle of opening an ironing board. Specifically for my purposes: Small steam reservoir & time taken to regenerate steam. For everything else: it doesn't work as advertised, limited cable length & fiddly to use it effectively.
Waste of time and money
Have had this for a few months now. Total con. It takes so much time to clean anything with it. Much quicker with a cloth. I was hoping for chemical free cleaning. Even with the nozzle close to the surface to be cleaned it still took a a lot of time to get any result.
Expensive for something that does very littleDoe'
Hard work for small results
Have had my shark portable steamer for a few months now and can admit I've been sucked in again it doesn't even come close to performing the way it does in the ads . I was hoping for chemical free cleaning and reduced scrubbing :/ . It's fine for things like wiping over the kitchen cupboards and cleaning skirting boards but even these jobs would probably be easier with a wet cloth well atleast I have sterile edges and cupboards right . I had to re clean my bathroom again after attempting to clean it with the shark as it just didn't clean it wel...l . I found it fairly useless on windows too . I'm so disappointed as I really wanted this to work . I have found it somewhat useful to clean and sterilizes the babies toys . The idea Hard to use , doesn't perform as is advertised
Not a necessary gadget
I have only used this gadget once. It is not likely I will use it again.
It may be alright for flat surfaces, but when you have to work on tiles the wedge attachment gets very heavy and it isn't very easy to handle.
It didn't do a very good job on my shower unit, after cleaning it with the steamer, I had to go over it again with a spray cleaner and good old elbow grease. I should point out that there is only myself and my husband using the shower unit so it doesn't get very dirty.
It would also be a pain in the posterior having to keep c...
waste of money
Sounds great but I was very disappointed. I followed directions but found it did very little on my oven even after trying for quite some time. Can't use it on my bench tops (they're laminate) then tried it in my shower and cracked the glass. I've since discovered Norwex products .Best thing I've ever bought!
poor job, easy to cause damage
Mkes Cleaning Fun - I'm not joking!
The Shark Portable Steam Pocket is not cheap retailing for around $200. It is well worth getting though. I didn’t realise how dirt my house was and it is very effective in cleaning things without the normal elbow grease. It has a huge number of attachments that suit every surface. You do have to hold the button in to keep the steam going but I did not find this difficult. The machine itself is light and very quick to heat up. Except for tough stains, it really does clean well, especially on walls. You will need to run over glass with micro fibr...e cloth to get that perfect finish but the shark will do the hard parts for you. I really loved this product. Cleans quickly and well, Light to carry, A huge number of attachments Does not work on tough stains, Need to go over some things with a cloth for the perfect finish
A light-weight steam cleaner for light-weight jobs
I've been happy with this steam cleaner for the once-a-month thorough cleans. It's not going to cut through heavy grime and limescale - you'd need harsh chemicals or a powerful steamer for that! - but it's worked well on my stove top and I keep using it just for window cleaning alone :)
A lot of heavy-duty cleaners recommend rinsing with water afterwards - I've found the Shark a lot easier than following up with sponge and water.
All of the cloths are good quality and I like how it came with doubles of most things! It's the microfibre tha...t does most of the cleaning (lifting) and so it's great being able to change them over mid-clean. long cord, doesn't have to cool down before adding more water, good quality accessories (pockets), dry steam, gentle enough for upholstery low steam power (comparatively), small resovoir, steam continues after letting go of button, must continue to hold cannister and press button - can only clean one-handed
Dry Steam, Easy to use, Great Results
I bought one of these and then got another free when I got the pocket mop. It is an excellent product that delivers on its promises. I have also got the Shark Navigator (Which I gave to my parents and got the pro model). They seem to be on the ball with the stuff they are pumping out. The Portable Steam pocket is my go to for cleaning in the Kitchen and the Bathroom. I like the way that it isn't TOO heavy and it produces constant steam unlike cheaper ones I've had that spray a lot of water.
My only gripe would be that I'd like a longer cord. I think including the bag to keep everything in is a small but appreciated gesture.
Dry Steam, Constant Pressure, Quality of Pockets, Included accessory bag.
Cord a little short.
Handy Dandy- just get used to it first!
Picked this up reduced at Harvey Norman. Found it very useful for cleaning kitchen splashbacks, counter tops, bathroom tiles, shower glass, mirrors and gave the kitchen paint a light go-over which really lifted grease.
At first all the attachments were a bit daunting but after reading the instruction booklet, I got the hang of it. A bit of practice helped too. Even using the high-pressure hose significantly reduced built up limescale in the shower.
A quick reading of some reviews shows that some people did not find it useful or found it con...fusing, so I would advise reading all the instructions and allowing yourself some time to get used to using all the different tools. Storage is a bit of an issue with all the parts, as well as having to use distilled water in hard water areas, but overall I would say this is a good investment. It cleans without any other products like spray n wipe so that could save you money in the long run. Found it very convenient and quick to use. My younger sister found it so easy that she did her cleaning without fights for the first time. Great! Quick, sanitary and effective cleaning method. Decent price. Don't have to use chemicals Many attachments confusing at first, hard to fit back in box for storage
Shark SC630 Portable Steam Pocket Cleaner
Purchased this item on a Saturday from Harvey Norman. Started to use it, and then went to change the wand. Can not unlock to remove the existing wand. Also, I agree with the other review that you need to have both hands to use this machine. You need one to press the buttom to release the steam and the other to hold and guide the wand. Whilst it does clean, there are issues with the release of the wand and its locking device. It is also a pain to not have the steam buttom on the wand. And maybe a much longer hose please.
It is small and compact
