Frustrating problem with electronics stops it from working
The 800W microwave was works OK till the power goes out: When the power is restored LCD panel digits are fully lit and it's not possible to use the unit. It doesn't respond to any of the buttons. We have 4 levels of power filtration so it's unlikely to have been damaged by a spike.
This microwave has had very light use for most of its life.
If you leave the microwave unplugged for an hour or so (a couple of minutes is not sufficient) the electronics clear and it starts working again.
Nobody is keen on waiting an hour for the electronics to c...lear each time the power goes out. Similar microwaves have never had this problem. The electronics must be a bit sensitive? Other users report similar issues with this model so this seems to be a model specific problem. This is a problem common to touch panels. Often it's the electronics that stop working not the magnetron. It's not worth repairing: A manual dial never has this problem. Many older people have trouble with touch pads but get on OK with manual selection dials. This problem would not exist if more equipment used a manual dial for the timer.
Purchased in January 2016 for $99.00.

Find out how Sharp R230H compares to other Microwaves
Know better, choose better.
Microwave cooking has probably changed from extensive cooking to being a device that defrosts and reheats. For these purposes this unit is ideal. Compact with a contemporary and ageless design. Nice.
If it's as reliable as our last Sharp microwave, we highly recommend it.
Simple, clean design and functional control panel.
One-touch selections and instant cook, this has to be one of the easiest microwaves to use.
For reheating, defrosting and easy cooking, this an ideal unit. For larger meals and professional cooking, choose another model. ...
