When I first bought it i thought it will turn out alright. The reviews seemed alright as well. Luckily i bought an extended warranty because it literally lasted less than two years and eachbofbthe times I bought it I managed to stuff up before the warranty even expired. Overall wouldn't recommend.
Overall good microwave
This microwave does the job well. Sometimes it can heat things quicker than you expect, and it's a bit on the loud side (especially the incessant beeping if you're not there to open it straight away), but that's just a matter of getting used to. For the price and effectiveness this fits the bill for what a microwave should be.
My review may not be super useful as I rarely use it.
So far, I've had no issues. Variable power, loads of settings. It does all I need a microwave to do. If you're looking for something fancier, maybe look at others, but i got on sale and had been good so far.
Just OK not too bad
We spend 189 dollars on this microwave. Many functions but we didn't really try all yet. Good in price and the reason we bought because of inverter sensor function. It also doesn't require time to be set during heat the food as sensor will know how long it need to heat up. Try with a glass of water before and it work out. We try on food before it doesn't stop so we will staring on out microwave to ensure not over heat
When i first bought this product i got great customer service they didn't try and sell me something i didn't need. Therefore I'm impressed with my purchase meets all of my expectation I have so far still trying to figure out some of the settings so hopefully all goes well

Failed after just 1 month of use
This started off as a powerful microwave, needing half the time to heat food compared to my previous microwave. However, after a couple of weeks, the heating was uneven and unpredictable. On occasion, my mug of milk was cold even after 2 minutes of heating on full power.
And today - I was reheating leftovers and the microwave tripped my mains and has completely stopped working.
I has just been over a month since I bought the unit. I would not have expected for it to fail this early.
Door frame and sticker melted/burnt
Purchased this unit just 18 months ago. It has worked perfectly until tonight when the door frame began to melt and part of the 'caution' sticker placed by the manufacturer on the opposing metal frame appears to be melted and scorched and has adhered to the door frame. How fortunate I'd only selected one minutes operation at the start of a reheat process and not longer, otherwise I may have walked away and consequently have had a significant fire to contend with. Evidently from the postings I've just read, my experience is not isolated. A q...uestion for Sharp: Should you, as a reputable brand, be considering a product recall? My decision to purchase the unit was based on your brand name. At the price, I wouldn't have expected the unit to fail just out of warranty. But most importantly, the wellbeing of my family shouldn't be placed at risk by my decision to purchase a reputable brands microwave, especially when there appears to be prior knowledge of a safety issue at your end. I hope you will consider your position.
My wife and i are very happy with our purchase of the Sharp Microwave. Have not had any problems with it and it works some much better then the last microwave we had. Looks great and fits nicely into any style of kitchen. We could not recommend this Sharp microwave higher.
Purchased 11/11/16. Returned for repairs: 30/10/17. It wasn't sent by retail store to the repairer until 15/11/17. Repairer wants $85 to get it fixed as they say it is out of warranty. BUT, it wasn't out of warranty when returned to retail store. Please help me get this solved for my friend who is an 80yr old lady, on her own. Kind Regards, Kim
A very reliable microwave!
I've had this microwave for almost a year now. I don't use it everyday, maybe only about a couple of times a week. Still though, it has been very reliable when it comes to easily preparing quick meals. The microwave's performance is still the same when I first bought. I only had to replace the rotating plate inside, but that was my fault.

My best electrical helper in the kitchen!
I recently purchased a new Sharp Model R350Y(W) microwave to replace my old one which stopped working after many many years of use. I chose this brand for reliability and this Model for ease of operation. The touch Control Panel is easy to read and uncomplicated. We all lead busy lives and any time saved in the kitchen is a help.
Just right for the use needed
I love this one ,it is so way to use ,no long winded ways of how to use ,what temp is needed for certain meats just plain and simple ,the price was right as was the colour, size was perfect , fitted into the area it was meant for ,perfect for us

This is a very powerful machine, 1200w. It only takes 30sec to warm food. It’s great to defrost food for dinner, even chicken without cooking it. The only annoying feature is the time it takes for the microwave to stop making a noise after the food is removed. They call the cooling period.

All good woks fine
I've been using this for six months now and so far I have no complaints. I'm not sure how to review a microwave as there is not much to say about them. It works, the controls are easy to use and the door doesn't clang loudly like some models. This model is quite roomy so I can fit large items in. After the cooking is finished there is a cooling fan that comes on for a short time, but I don't know much about that aspect of it.
Decent Microwave with numerous features
This is a 1200 watt inverter machine which has a reasonable amount of space inside to cook almost anything you want (e.g. roast chicken).
It has a number of features which include sensor reheat, defrost, sensor cook and child lock. It also allows you to control the level of power you want for cooking at.
There is a lot of moisture when cooking and this means a quick wipe-down but apart from that it is a good microwave.
The most annoying appliance I have ever bought
We bought this because we had owned one of the original Sharp Carousels back in the late 80s. It was a good machine. This one drive me crazy because it is too clever. The inverter technology means the fan will keep going for 30 seconds after I cook something, even for 1 second. So I don't know when it has actually finished or whether it is just cooling. If I look at it, it will show the sign cooling, so I can' see the time or do anything else until I press the reset button twice. I am not sure why as our previous inverter microwave was a Panas...onic and it didn't do this. But for me, by far the most annoying thing is that it keeps telling me what to do. If I am slow to enter the time, it will start telling me to select power, preventing me from seeing what time is entered. When I do get it going it doesn't show what power setting it is on. I put something in to cook and if I don't take it out straight away it will beep every thirty seconds until I do, while flashing the sign "remove food" so I can't tell the time. If the power goes off and comes back on again it will show the sign "microwave oven". I must be told because I might miss seeing the sign on the front. I come home from work to cook, mainly in a hurry and trying to get multiple dishes cooked in the kitchen at the same time. The last thing I need is this machine constantly telling me what to do. I did give it two points because it actually does heat the food, and it still goes after 6 months. But most microwaves will do that. I would not buy one of these again.
Quick and easy to use.
This microwave is so much quicker than my old one I am having a bit of trouble adjusting!
It is very easy to operate, quick and simple.
Don't quite know why it beeps at the end of a cool down period, I want to take the food out hot.
It is big enough for most of my serving dishes - 10 people.
Only lasted 2 years
I bought this microwave a bit over 2 years ago and paid more for it thinking it would be of good quality and would last a lot longer than it did. The black coating on the inside of the door melted as well as on the microwave where the door sits which exposed the metal and has caused the microwave to smoke and emit sparks. Won't be buying this one again
Do not buy
The Microwave works well although I always thought it was very noisy. It continues make noise well after the cooking process. The bad thing is that my first one blew up in the warranty period. The second one stopped working today outside the warranty period. Two in 3 years. Avoid buying the microwave.

It's good , easy to use
My previous landlord purchased this microwave oven for us and I considered it was very easy to use and powerful . Now I bought one for myself when I moved into another apartment. I am happy with the appliance as usual. The only drawback is the price is a bit expensive.
Burnt paint under door, while googling the burnt door, I found this review site.
Our use of this microwave has been pretty mild over the 5 years, mostly reheating small meals, sterilizing baby bottles and heating a mug of water 1 or two times a day. Certainly it hasn't had a hard life, and we have kept it spotlessly clean inside and out at all times.
Just tonight, however, it has failed us and there is now an ugly burnt patch of paint and sticker at the top of the door seal area, the black paint on the door seal area has come off revealing bare metal on the door and that paint has melted through and curled up the sticker...on the front of the microwave body frame. The smell and smoke went right through the house, its not safe. I'd call this a pretty bad failure, i wiped the burnt area with a Damp cloth to clean it moments later and the cloth hissed and steamed. I don't want to think about what would have happened if i left it running for 5 minutes in this condition. Fire hazard. Not Cool. We've always had sharp carousel microwaves in the family, my Mother's old sharp carousel convection/microwave oven worked flawlessly in her catering business for 10 years, literally cooking hundreds of cakes a year. Having talked to many people about the sharp brand when i purchased a new convection microwave oven for my mother only a year ago i was a little dismayed that people did not recommend them anymore, i still bought it in the end as it was affordable. I hope that one lasts. The vibe out there is that they aren't made the way they used to be.
Burnt out after 18 months
I was extremely happy with this microwave until yesterday. The settings and functions were easy to understand and use. However, yesterday within seconds of starting to defrost I could smell a horrid burning smell which filled the house and remained for hours. Upon opening the door I could see black burnt marks between the door and inside cavity.
I am really disappointed and expected more from what I believed would be a quality product. I purchased this one based my previous positive experiences with Sharp products. After this incident and h...
I had the same problem. The label on the body of the microwave had started to peel away and managed to get itself stuck to the door while I was cooking vegetables. I levered open the microwave to find a burnt strip on the door and the body of the microwave. I complained to Sharp who said the label could not have caused this but I firmly believe it did. I had to buy a new microwave. Have bought another Sharp but hope to get more longevity from this one.
Sharp & Smart looking
Nice & clean to look at in white on a kitchen bench and is well-built. Has excellent visibility through glass door, quiet when in use, However, although has extensive programmes, digital display is difficult for an elderly person to use with multiple programs & also takes time to learn to use.

Have always used Sharp microwave ovens in the past. This one did not last as long as the others. However it was a great oven while it was going. We use the oven every day and just now found it made a burning smell and on inspection found that the door and connecting internal face had scoring marks where the arching occurred. Now I must purchase a new oven, very frustrated but I can't take the chance of starting a fire.
