Overall, its a very good microwave (functions very well) and is very versatile oven for a small family with limited space (although its not too pretty).
Nice and aesthetic. The sensor cooking makes it more convenient for me to cook food and, on its own, it senses if food is already well-heated, ready for serving. This microwave makes everything easy to do, such as defrosting frozen meat (you don't have to wait hours for it to thaw). Lots of cooking functions and relatively hard cooking tasks are fairly easy to set up. Very good for quickly heating up food.
Although it doesn't look too bad, the makers could of made a better looking microwave especially one that works this good.
Not too happy with this unit as we already had to have the LCD repaired twice and now the LCD had gone again....so 3 times in 3 years...will probably not buy this brand again as not too happy with the unit. Sure easey to use and good size but thats about it IMO.
Good size, easy to use.
Had to undergo several repairs with the LCD screen. Would not be covered under warranty.
Not good at all
But could have been the batch maybe
The first time it was the timer and the next time it was the timer the third time it is the problem with not cooking and turning off and the plate didn't rotate.
Good and Quick
Looks really good
Been in the shop twice and only had it 18,months
Stoped the plate from spinning
Wouldn't turn off had to be switched off at the wall now it won't work at all and the warenty has run out.
No Microwave .
Find out how Sharp R880B compares to other Microwaves
Know better, choose better.
dont bother 2 years use is a real shame for this price i would have expected more from them
very good for super quick cooking reheating foods
the reheat/cook setting are a little to long the auto setting such as pie vegie and defrost setting are automaticly set for tooo long
the computer display has died in mine only just under 2 years old and its dead mums is still going good mine still works but its hard to having to run back to see if the foods cooked because the display dosnt work iam going back to my old microwave with the dial and had it for around 10 years and go's better then digital less to go wrong thank god for simpson i surpose they just dont make them like they used to
A very versatile oven for a small family with limited space. Needs more recipes to show how to make best use of the combined microwave and conventional cooking functions.
Lots of cooking functions.
Relatively easy to use - even complicated cooking tasks are fairly easy to set up.
A bit smaller than I expected.
Build quality seems flimsy.
Outside of oven gets very hot during convection cooking.
Few recipes to demonstrate use of advanced features.
Questions & Answers
I have a Sharp R880B and it would be at least 7 years old. It doesnt reheat anymore. Any ideas if I should get it fixed or should I just get a new one?
I'm afraid I would simply buy a new oven. If you can manage without the convection cooking feature, it will be relatively inexpensive. If you regularly use most of the functions of the Sharp, you could consider getting a quote for repair. It will be cjeaper if you can take the oven to the repairer, but it might be worth asking what a quote will cost. In the old days, quotes were free, but that doesn't seem to be the case nowadays.
