Fridge is freezing all food and groceries
I have had this fridge for 7 years and was happy with it. Apart drom the occassional cracking noise it makes, it has been reliable until a week ago. It is freezing everything in the fridge. I have turned up the temperature to 6oC but it is still freezing everything. The freezer is ok, but seems like my fridge conpartment has also turned into a freezer. Please help me get this issue fixed. thanks.
Great fridge, awful service arrangement.
We originally bought this fridge to replace an expensive Amana that sounded like an industrial shop when it was running. The Sharp has performed flawlessly and super quietly (except for regularly snapping the nylon door restraints - that's what those white plastic things that fall on the floor are) until the power was turned off for 7 hours last week. Since then we had the usual "freezing everything in the fridge but no freezer" followed by the "no fridge but freezer running uncontrolled down to -35°C on both sides". We love the fridge but gett...ing it serviced is a nightmare. The Sharp website lists authorised agents who no longer will service them, the Sharp customer help line puts you through to a call centre that then puts you through to another call centre who recommended a repairer 2 hours away. Bottom line, it appears Sharp sold their Parts division in Victoria (who were great in the past) to someone else and ALL the repair guys say it is almost impossible to get stuff in any timely manner. We are talking weeks, not days, even if they respond. The Sharp was great but it obviously has at least two common faults with the door catch restraints and (I suspect) surge protection of the control board - and you cannot rely on their service arrangements, particularly for a 10 year old discontinued item. I bought a new fridge.
Terrible customer service
My fridge drawer was broken within the warranty time and I cantated them in April 2020, since now it is still pending, below is there reply in Oct 2020, till now it is still pending.

Sharp Australia unable to provide after sales service
I bought French double door fridge from Good Guys Bankstown in 2014 and till last week it was running well. Last week we had an extended power cut for over 12 hours and since then the Refrigerator section freezes every item and I had to empty all my food and vegies though the Freezer section works fine. I tried speaking to Sharp Customer support and they directed me to their outsourced Service Centre who bluntly told they don't service this model. Went back to Sharp Customer service again and they told to e mail to a Case Manager who will then ...contact further. When I pressed to connect me over the phone and happy to pay for the Service Technician, the answer was I need to wait. Took the help of Google to request Private Technicians and most said it is difficult to source spare parts and hence not possible to attend. This level of customer service from a large corporation is the last nail in coffin, I paid over $2000 for a brand new Fridge and in all probability have to get a new one. Got a reply from sharp Customer Care as i was writing a review: Thank you for contacting Sharp Customer Care. Please turn off the refrigerator for 24 hours and leave the doors open. Kind Regards, Sharp Customer Care
Purchased in April 2014 at The Good Guys for $1,900.00.
Having owned the fridge since January 2020, I was happy although the noise level is a bit high. Yesterday I had a circuit breaker in my house. After investigation I found the fault to be the fridge. I have had to call on friends to help me out over the week end. This fine but the friend that could help is nearly 2 kms away which means I need to go there to get my food. I rang Goodguys today and they told me that I would hear from Sharp agent Monday or Tuesday. As I live 100 kms from Tamworth I that to be most unlikely. I had a Sharp some years ...ago which took countless phone calls and consumer affairs to to get it resolved it took about 6 mths to get it fixed. I said I would never buy Sharp again but the years have dulled my memory. Well I did it but I now regret not buying something else. I am bracing myself I do not trust the brand and believe I will have an uphill battle getting service with out delay. If I look like having any difficulty, Sharp will hear from the Ombudsman post haste. No more Sharp products for me in the future. Twice burned never gain.

Has unexplained dent in door .
Our fridge is about 3 .5 years old. It has an unexplained dent in one top door (been there for yonks) . Just read some other reviews and it seems to be very common. Now the RHS top door which never looked like it had been properly fitted is actually starting to rust ? Can't believe it. I can't ever see myself ever buying another Sharp product again
Purchased in January 2017 at The Good Guys for $2,007.00.
Love the fridge but replacement of product is difficult
Fridge opens and closes really well though motor goes on and off. The clip of freezer broke off and glass shattered. Look of the fridge is beautiful. Replacement very hard

Quality is poor. Bad customer service- Don't recommend SHARP
Update to the below review : I contacted Sharp and after a number of follows ups, they acknowledged that there is a manufacturing defect. They provided me with a returns authority for Good Guys & I now own a Westinghouse Fridge.
I have this 624L fridge for the last four years. It is a good fridge. One fine day the fridge stopped working. On contacting the service technician, he mentioned that the gas ran out. I don't understand how can the fridge stop working in just a few years? I paid around $2000 on this product. I would NOT recommend thi...s product given this is a lot of money for just a few years. I contacted the customer care thrice only to be placed on hold for 30 minutes each time without speaking to their customer care - Tempo. Pathetic service. the compartments shelves are super flimsy so they break easily if something has frozen. I have broken shelves in our freezer drawers. Wouldn't RECOMMEND.
Purchased in September 2015 at The Good Guys for $1,998.00.
Love the drawers
Can’t fault this fridge
Compartments in the freezer are everything to me! Door space is amazing. Easy to clean and we are a family of 5 that can load it up and not worry
Purchased in January 2016 at Appliances Online.
Excellent size, but failed suddenly, compressor @ 100% all day and night.
for a family of four this is a big fridge, plenty of room for all our food and a few beers with no need for a fridge in the garage, the $2800 spend seemed value for money and worth the extra time we took to have the fridge nook widened. We've been very happy BUT.
Suddenly and with no warning at all the fridge compartment started freezing all our meat and veg (and beers) absolutely solid. Tried leaving it off for a few hours in the hope that something would reset, but it still happens.
So, was good until this failure.
I tried Sharp, no help ...

Compressor motor died. Sharp terrible to deal with.
Paid $1800 for this fridge and that was apparently at a ‘discounted price’.
The plastic in both fridge compartment and freezer broke very easily. Sharp replaced only 1 section/shelf and wouldn’t acknowledge the rest (Good Guys, Kawana Waters - where we purchased it from - were no better, to be honest... once the money is paid, the care factor is extremely low).
Compressor motor ceased working after only 4 years.
Sharp call centre staff cut you off mid-sentence (as soon as they realise they’re dealing with a complaint or faulty workmanship) a...nd transfer you to an offshore company called Tempo, who barely speak or understand English. I had to take the matter through to an ombudsman and they only offered me a Good Guys store credit after four weeks of failing to return emails and phone calls. It is still in mitigation with a fair trade ombudsman.

worst fridge ever
fridge was noisy from start. never got cold enough and now after 3.5 years. fridge has stop cooling . freezer still ok . pretty bad for a $2000+ fridge i was expecting 10 years +
Purchased in May 2015 for $2,000.00.
Brilliant refrigerator until it stopped working.
I bought a Sharp SJ-F624St refrigerator in December 2014 and we have been very happy with it until now. It has stopped completely and have been told that the compressor needs replacing, which I believe is an extremely costly job.
Surely such a critical component of a refrigerator should last more than 4 years.
What can I do to avoid a costly repair?
Purchased in December 2014.
Overall very happy, I was a little nervous reading review of occasional noisy fridge, this one barely a sound! Space is great, doors don’t close easily though and kids need re training to not flick it shut and walk off. Lighting good, overall very happy, just love the deep ice cube container
Fridge Freezing Food
We love our four door Sharp fridge freezer because it's so handy to access whichever area of the fridge you need without letting out large amounts of cold air at the same time which is definitely going to translate to cheaper power prices. However in the last month the fridge has begun freezing all our groceries so even when the temp setting is changed to 6 degrees it is continuing to freeze everything. Don't know what to do but need a solution fast as its costing us money. Help
Questions & Answers
How old are these fridges I can’t seem to find the year made anywhere
We have significant build up of ice in freezer. Also, main fridge doors don't seal well. How can we defrost?
My Sharp SJF60PC worked great until two nights ago we lost power (Blown Circuit Breaker - unknown if Fridge caused this), however, we reset the breaker and since then the freezer freezes everything rock hard and the fridge freezes everything as well except my beers (great for my beers not good for everything else)
All settings are the same as before -188 degrees & 3 degrees C.
It seems to be a fairly common fault with these fridges. Some people claim turning it off again and allowing it to restart may fix it. Didn't work for me. Pretty obviously something in the controller board gets damaged by a power cycle. Good luck getting it repaired. I gave up. Parts are apparently hard to get. I wanted a 4 door white fridge and they are rare. I replaced it with a Mitsubishi Electric 710L French Door Fridge MR-L710EN-GWH-A2. Mitsubishi also make a 610L version which is effectively the same size and functionality as the Sharp. I'm banking on Mitsubishi having better support than Sharp. :-)
We had the same problem after a power outage that lasted about three hours. No matter what I tried, it would not stop freezing things in the top compartment. Tried to change the temperature from 3 to 6 degrees but had no affect. Also tried power cycling the fridge but that did not help either. After reading the various answers on this forum, one tip seemed to make the most sense. The advice was to turn off the fridge for 24 hours and have it reset itself. We took it as an opportunity to clean out the fridge and let it be unpowered for almost 24 hours. This trick worked. The fridge is working fine now. There was some mention that some of the sensors were affected for short power outages. My best theory is that melted water could have refroze over sensors and triggered bad readings. Could be complete fiction but is possible. Regardless, it makes sense that a long reset could allow the fridge to get back to its original settings. Hope it works for you. Best regards
