So disappointed with my order. I ordered the Lira Plunge Balloon Sleeve Maxi dress to wear for my wedding. Unfortunately the dresses in the images on the website are altered to fit the models. My dress has a much shorter outer layer (shorter than inner layers) and is about 6cm shorter compared to photos on their website. The dress came stuffed… Read more

into a bag and seems to be poor quality (eg stiches look like they’re coming undone) Customer service doesn’t see this a fault and hence I can only get store credit. So disappointed as I wanted to support a Australian company and expected more for a $400 dress

I’m very disappointed with this brand. I bought a dress during store wide promotion, the dress turned out to have a terrible shape and didn’t not fit me at all. Turned out I can only return it as a store credit. It’s legal but not practiced by other brands. I learnt my lesson, never buy from some small brands that don’t care about customers… Read more

satisfaction, go with the big brands that prefer to give you a refund and have a returning happy customer. Never again!

So embarrassing. I spent $256 for my Shona Joy dress to (which is a lot for me to spend) to wear for my sons wedding. Obviously, this was the first time I wore it, within 30 mins, the elastic came out of the sleeve. Then at 5:30 before I was… Read more

meant to walk into the Reception, the zip broke, exposing my back. There was nothing we could do but put safety pins in. I tried many times since I got home to try and repair it, and it is rubbish. I am petite and the dress was loose on me, so being tight was no way an issue. After the wedding I sent an email with pics to Shona Joy and they said contact the company who you purchased it from, The Iconic. It has been 4 weeks, and I have not heard a thing from The Iconic. You should be able to wear a dress for more than 5 hours before the zip breaks. People wear clothes for years and they don't fall apart. I hesitate to purchase anything at all after this. I look back at my son's wedding with embarrassment.

Follow-up  · Unfortunately the dress was unable to be repaired. I purchased the dress from The Iconic, and they didn’t want to know me. I have not been on their site since, and will never purchase from them again. Shona Joy however, sent me a voucher for $100 for their store, and I have made a purchase with it. Thank you Shona Joy for your good will.

Really poor quality. Not worth the money at all. Returns policy is inconsistent (it said 7 days to return once the return is lodged, but after I lodged the return it told me I have 5 days to post it back). Forces us to pay for returns and print off a packing slip that is so inconvenient because no one has a printer these days. I'd be ashamed if I owned this brand

I live in Brooklyn, New York and ordered a product from your Shona Joy, and not only was the quality below what I expected from a brand that markets itself as a source of wedding dresses, but I was then forced to spend $65 to return it to Australia. This is completely unacceptable. The fact that Shona Joy expects customers to bear such an… Read more

outrageous return cost is appalling and shows a clear lack of respect for your customers.

Secondly, it was absolutely not clear from the website that sale items were non-refundable back to payment rather than a store credit.

Finally, if you are going to sell to consumers outside of Australia, the most honest thing to do would be to add $65 to their checkout costs and then charge them nothing for a return so that they are aware of the fee when they check out. They should absolutely review and change your return policies so no consumer has to spend their hard-earned money on a return of something they will not wear. Not to mention the fact that most of these consumers are brides (like I am) who are already strapped for cash in planning a wedding.

I have two very disappointing experiences with Shona Joy that I feel obligated to share — especially if you're a bride or based in the U.S. I'm getting married in May and was so excited to try a few Shona Joy dresses for my welcome party. They have beautiful designs, and since they don't have any stores in the States (I live in NYC), I ordered… Read more

several options totaling around $3,000.. Unfortunately, my package got stuck in customs (not Shona Joy’s fault), and when it finally arrived, it was stolen from my public lobby. I immediately reached out to Shona Joy, explaining the situation and asking if they could resend my package. They refused, saying it was the shipper’s issue, not theirs. Disappointing, but fine—I then asked them to file a claim with DHL since I had signed a signature release but specifically requested the package be left at my front door, not in my public lobby (where it was stolen). After multiple follow-ups, they finally responded, saying DHL denied the claim because of the signature release. However, when they sent me the actual exchange with DHL, I saw that they never even argued my case properly. They simply accepted the denial without pressing the issue, despite me explicitly asking them to explain the mishandling. At that point, they essentially shut down any further discussion, leaving me with a $3,000 loss and zero support. As a bride, losing $3,000 a couple months before my wedding is not just frustrating — it’s devastating. I understand the theft isn’t technically their fault, but a company with good customer service would’ve at least tried to support their customer, especially one spending this much money during such a meaningful time. But unfortunately, Shona Joy does not care about its customers. To make matters worse, my second experience with them was through my bridesmaid, who ordered a potential dress option I had sent her. The dress was beautiful but didn’t fit, so she began the exchange process — only to find out that Shona Joy does NOT cover return shipping, even for size exchanges. The cost to return the dress from the U.S. to Australia? $350 — more than the cost of the dress itself. We were absolutely shocked. How can a modern brand not offer reasonable return options, especially when shopping internationally is their entire model? Bottom line: Do NOT order from Shona Joy if you live in the U.S. or value customer service. Beautiful dresses are not worth the nightmare if something goes wrong — and trust me, they will leave you to deal with it alone.

Misleading and disingenuous – I purchased a mini dress online, the model on the website was 180cm tall wearing a size AU6, and I am 165cm and ordered a size AU8. There were no length measurements available. I got the dress it fit fine, but it was so short it barely made it past my bum. I emailed to see if maybe it was faulty but they said that it was not, and that the dress… Read more

was designed to be 60cm length total. I thought I could trust the advertised images, I wish they hadve listed all measurements. There is no way someone who is 180cm tall is able to wear 60cm worth of dress and have it cover all your bits. The advertising is misleading and cannot be trusted. I would not purchase anything online from them again. Expensive lesson learned.

Worst sizing and quality – Worst clothes for people sizes 14 and up. Two times I had to call them because their sizing and the quality of their dresses are not only not accurate but also quality is bad. Customer service is also horrible, they don’t listen or try to help at all. I’ve never left a review for a clothing brand but I had to today. Show details

Update on Shona Joy – A further update on my experience with Shona Joy. I returned the dress and tracked arrival on the 24th December. Still no refund or store credit and an email to ‘Customer Care’ again gave me a completely inadequate reply. One of the poorest customer service experiences I have had.

Bad quality and even worse customer service – Recently bought a dress from the new arrivals section. I checked the return policy to ensure that I can refund. A promotion was running across all dresses so that was mandatory applied at the checkout. The dress arrived and it was awful. Does not fit the description at all. As a promotion was applied, I am only entitled to a credit note. Lucky… Read more

loophole for Shona Joy to offer site wide ‘promotions’ and then lock people out refunds and only offer credit notes. Upon emailing Shona Joy, the service was appalling from customer ‘care’ , Passive aggressive, immature, condescending and only interested in protecting themselves. I’ve been interacting with a few brands online recently due to a big wardrobe restock and the difference between Shona Joy and others is vast. My experience with Shona Joy was awful - Poor quality product , does not listen to their customers, rude and entitled, horrible customer service. Watch out for any mandatory promotional offers locking you out of refunds. I’ve also noticed very limited comments on their instagram - I would never never buy again!

Horrible quality if you want to wear more than once and customer service very bad – Whilst the dress was beautiful, don't expect to be able to wear more than once. I ordered the 'LA LUNE BIAS COWL MIDI DRESS - TERRACOTTA' for a wedding I was bridesmaid in. I followed the care instructions, carefully hand washing the dress in cold water with very mild soap. I knew it was a risk washing it but figured if I followed the instructions… Read more

it would be fine. Upon the dress drying, piling began to form and the shine is completely gone from the material. I understand that there is a risk this may happen, but if so the instructions should state dry clean only not that you can hand wash this dress. Beware that washing the dress will ruin it.

I am beyond upset and frustated in the quality of this dress, with an expensive price tag you expect good quality and to be able to wear the dress more than once. I reached out to their customer service and was relayed the wash instructions. I let them know twice that I followed exaclty what they stated and how upset I was that this had happened and then they chose to not respond for weeks. I followed up again and the least they could do was provide me a 10% discount code.

Beware that you may aswell buy the cheaper knock off dresses rather than the real deal as atleast if they dont last long you aren't wasting as much money as this!

Judging by other reviews and what I have seen in bridal groups across facebook, this is a very common occurance which they arent willing to rectify in their care instructions. Really upset at the lack of care and the major acting of entitlement from this company.

Return process is shocking & Sassy customer service – I ordered a jacket, and when it arrived it was hideous and way too big. I asked for an exchanged and was told I couldn't do anything as it was final sale. I pointed out that the return details at the point of sale don't tell me this so they reluctantly gave me a gift card. I used this to purchase a dress and a pair of shorts, and in doing so spent… Read more

more money with them. I hadn't heard about my shipping for a week so I emailed them, didn't hear back after the 2 day time frame. So I called them, turns out shorts ran out of stock (after my purchase) so I was offered a refund. 2 weeks later and I haven't received a refund, so I emailed, again with no reply in the 2 day time frame. I called and spoke with Charlotte who was incredibly rude and told me refund is going back to the gift card and that the gift card was against their policy in the first place and a 'gesture of good will'. So even though I had spent more than the gift card on my second purchase, I now have to spend more again to even be able to use what they 'refunded' me. No one told me this two weeks ago when I had called. It's just been a nightmare. Do yourself a favour and shop somewhere else.

Poor Product Quality and Customer Service – I bought a dress recently from Shona Joy which I had to return back as it was too big. When I asked Shona Joy for a refund/ exchange they refused and said that the dress was damaged by me. I flagged that while trying it on for the first time the zipper was extremely stiff and got caught on the material. They accused me of wear and tear (even… Read more

though I wore it once to see how it fits). They refused a refund/exchange and instead returned the dress to me. Just a warning to other buyers - DO NOT spend your money on this brand. It’s low quality and poorly made. I believe they tampered with the dress as when I received it back, there was damage on the edge of the dress which wasn’t there when I returned it. They don’t want to lose a sale and it seems like they will go out of their way to avoid a refund/exchange. Please be wary when purchasing

So disappointed, shocking fabric! – LUXE TIE FRONT BALLOON SLEEVE DRESS. Looked beautiful and fit nicely but unfortunately the fabric was so bad I'm throwing the dress out after 1 wear! 1st dress was sent back due to a pull, the replacement arrived with little pull but decided to wear anyway. After 1 wear there was a huge pull down the front and the bottom was frayed very badly. Was… Read more

told it was wear & tear! Apparently you can't wear with shoes or carry a bag, sit on a chair, ride in a car, hug people ......seriously. You need to test wear this dress!

Disgraceful Customer Service – Disgraceful customer service. I had purchased a dress and I felt it was a little small and a bigger size would look better. All I wanted to do was swap the dress for another size that they have in stock. Not an unusual request nor unreasonable. When I asked via the online chat my request was declined due due to quality nature fabric. Never heard… Read more

such rubbish. The dress had not been worn and had all tags on. Secondly they tried to tell me due to it being on sale nothing could be done. It was actually a discount period and her math was off. Simple mistake. The brand is sold on Iconic and David Jones where I can exchange and refund seamlessly. Yet buying directly I can't, different rules. I eventually was offered a credit note but I need the dress for a function and that would I'd have to spend more money, pay full price and then wait for credit note to use on another item once they received the returned item/dress. After this debacle I won't want to purchase again nor can I support a brand that has nonsensical reasoning so don't want a credit note. To summarise, their original excuse for not swapping was due to fabric quality then they relentlessly agree to credit note. So they do accept returns but they can't swap dresses for another size for what reason? Talk about illogical reasoning! To top it off it was the most patronising customer service that I have ever received and unusual to receive such terrible customer service in these times. No wonder people shop on the larger platforms.
