I can't fault the service.
Economy on long flights is a trial but Singapore Airlines pleasant , efficient, helpful crew try to make it as pleasant as possible. Seat space appears better than on many airlines and seats are reasonably comfortable with provided pillows and blankets. Hot towels provided several times during the flights are comforting and refreshing. Entertainment options are extensive and provide good distraction for those who can not sleep in a sitting up position - even with some recline. Food is adequate, fresh and tasty with a range of snacks availa...
Read moreble in between meals on extra long flights ( Singapore to Europe). Drink options are plentiful and crew circulate frequently during the flights with trays of juice or water. Singapore Airlines provides good value and a better than average option when flying long haul flights to Europe. Would recommend them over many other airlines on the same or similar routes.Good service, old aircraft BNE-SIN
I regularly fly SQ from BNE-SIN then onto Manado or Manila for scuba diving. Very good all around except the old aircraft that are used BNE-SIN. Even though the other aspects of SQ service are good, I will be flying with a different airline for my next holiday to get a newer aircraft. Plus all SQ flights between Singapore and Brisbane and vice-versa are always fully booked. Why not provide a bigger aircraft for this obviously popular route?

My vote for consistent Service
As a frequent traveler I generally choose SQ as my preferred carrier. I find that they provide the most consistent service and nearly always get all the service basic's right. I find SQ staff engage with passengers pleasantly and efficiently throughout the flight and are generally attentive and accommodating.
I have flown other carriers including more recently Qantas, Jetstar (Shudder), Emirates, Virgin (my preferred domestic carrier these days), Air France, Scoot, Ryanair, Malaysian and Vietnam Airways and I will grant that most of these al...
Read moreso do the basics well enough. Having said that I have had good and not so good with all of the above and have found Qantas very hit and miss over the last few years, which is a shame. I also flew on an Emirates 777 had the hardest seats I think I've ever sat on, thank god it was only 4 hours. I'd still also rank Malaysian as a pretty good airline despite their unfortunate present situation. Not to say SQ are perfect as I've also had hit and misses with Singapore but with SQ its generally very infrequent, so its the consistency that wins out for me. I also find Changi airport is a pleasant hub and the SQ aircraft are clean, appear to be well maintained and cabin staff are usually very good at service delivery throughout. Points are also available for the Velocity program which helps too. My most recent trip was LON to SYD via Changi and the service on both legs was pleasant and attentive for such a long flight. Enjoyed that we also got to experience the economy section on the upper deck of the 380. Its amazing that we can get from one side of the planet to the other these days in less than 24 hours and I think many travelers sort of forget what an feat of organisation it is, for any airline, to safely move so many people to so many distant destinations on a daily basis.gizmo chow chowGreater Melbourne (Outer), VIC

Good on longer routes, avg on short ones
Longer routes(economy cabin)-Good planes, good crew, good selection of in flight entertainment, food does not disappoint.
short route flights ( 2 hours) are disappointing planes feel old.
But crew still nice and polite.
Will definitely be back!!!
Would have been perfect if cabin crew weren't tired
I travelled from Hong Kong to Singapore on SQ865 on 3 February 2014. Cabin crew was tired, grumpy after their turn-around trip from Singapore to Hong Kong. Cabin crew was reluctant to give me a glass of water after asking for one. Never mind that, I think pervasive racism occurred. As most passengers were from Hong Kong, I notice the lack of smiles and good will that is usually Singapore Airlines. Most cabin members were rather brusque! My connecting flight from Singapore to Perth (SQ 225) on the same night was what Singapore Airlines has alway...
Read mores been - simply, a great way to fly. Cabin crew were friendly, willing to help. During that red-eye flight a thoughtful cabin member used his mobile phone to shine on the drinks tray in a darken cabin interior. I thought it was simply marvellous how such simple things make flying a joy. Reliable and on time. Quality of cabin crew varies greatly. I will still fly SQ from Singapore to HK but perhaps cabin crew members need a longer break. Said one cabin crew "It has been a long flight, turn-around for us all. All up we were on our feet almost 12 hours".AngryMILChatswood 2067
Comfortable flight to Asia
I traveled to Singapore last year with my husband and had a straight forward and comfortable flight. I found there was adequate entertainment, the food wasn't the best, but it was Asian themed and it is plane food. Transfers were straightforward and our bags were at out destination without issues. Flew in June 13.
Comfortable seats, blankets, hot towels, drinks when you want.
We were seated next to a very overweight man who slept like a log. Couldn't move for 6 hours!! As seats are 3/3/3 They should be in an aisle seat so they do not block anyone from accessing toilet

Customer service varies
I have been using Singapore airlines for a while for my international travels. Not had any major problems as yet. Reason I gave only 4 stars is because of the customer service. Generally it is excellent. But, sometimes really hard to contact them on phone etc. I have found they are not really helpful over phone. Don't really seem to care. On board, they provide good service though. Can be expensive. Overall good experience. Would recommend to a friend.
Good features in the flight to entertain the passengers
Customer service on phone can be really frustrating

Children in Business Class
The Crew were fantastic. Unfortunately I had a horror flight from London to Singapore due to a family consisting of two adults and three young children who did not settle down until a couple of hours out of Singapore causing myself and others, in Business Class, sleep deprivation. Children should be excluded from Business Class as passengers pay a lot of money to travel in this fashion, expecting to be able to sleep on the long haul.
Crew were pleasant and helpful
Unsettled children travelling in Business Class prevented other passengers from sleeping. Passengers should be able to expect a quiet environment.

Fantastic BUT...
Cheers to Singapore Airlines, my elderly mother and I have just completed a UK to Perth flight and I am so happy with our economy flights both to and from the UK, BUT not the airlines fault but from the start at Heathrow airport three small children screamed non stop to Singapore, then two of the three boarded from Singapore to Perth, even when we were trying to sleep you could hear the screaming, all passengers were deeply affected by this problem, what is the answer, it has turned me off any future long flights, I am a mother of three childre...
Read moren and therefore do sympathise, but it was a nightmare that we are still trying to recover from, after a fantastic three weeks the last 22 hours were miserable, I am sure most of the other passengers and staff would also have a comment. Terri.1 comment

Good Customer Service, Professional but expensive
If you have money, use this airline since they have good customer service, food are pretty good and when things go wrong eg. your luggage got sent off to different country, they would at least provide some compensation money until your luggage is recovered (happened to my family once on a tour to Europe).
Good Service
Expensive

Business Class & First Class still Best. Economy class standards need massive improvement
I have been travelling 2x/month for the last 8 years and have been priviledged to have travelled on numerous airlines and different classes depending on the travel budget accorded to me.
Being both a Elite Gold Krisflyer & PPS member, I can give a genuine first-hand experience of SIA & it's services.
Considering the costs of it's business & first class tickets, the services and standards do match up well & above my expectations. Without a doubt, when I do have the choice of airline, i will always choose SIA if I'm allocated the budget / a...
Read moreuthorised to fly business / first class. However, on numerous times due to last minute flight plans, I've been allocated to travel Economy class. Unfortunately, I will not always choose SIA. Lack of inflight staffing, poor customer service, poor english, smaller seats vs other airlines, dirty toilets are all reasons I am so hesitant, especially on flights longer than 4 hours. I remembered SIA being the TOP & Number 1 airline in the world for many years running. They will achieve that if only they bring their Economy Class up to par. First & Business Class Impeccable, Impressive, Inventive & Inspiring Economy Class found wanting - mainly inflight staff qualityredcat

Good
My experience with SIA has always been wonderful. The staff have always been friendly. We travelled with our 5 mth old baby and she did not sleep much during the 8 hr flight. The staff kept giving us things to entertain her and often stopped by to play with her. On our return flight my husband's TV screen was not working at all and we were given vouchers to use for the onboard dutyfree.
The staff are really friendly and neatly presented, the travel is comfortable and the meals are often nice. Love the entertainments.
Tickets can be a bit pricey. Infant who have started solids don't have much option.

service used to be better
I have been flying SIG for many years and am a Krisflyer member. Once you are at the airport and in the air, the service is excellent. Friendly staff, clean cabins, good meals and the staff go out of their way with little snacks and drinks. However, staff in the Sydney office are terrible. They do not reply to emails, it's impossible to get through to them on the phone and if you do, the service is bad. It's such a difference to their offices in Singapore, New Zealand or Frankfurt. If you can book online and have a straightforward flight withou...
Read moret stopovers/add on flights, it's fine, but as soon as you have any of these it becomes a nightmare to deal with them. I even had staff in Singapore commenting that they would complain about the office here. reliable, good service, clean bit more expensive than other airlines, sydney office offers very poor serviceFind out how Singapore Airlines compares to other International Airlines

Good
I really enjoy flying on Singapore Airlines. I have flown them on numerous flights and all have been great. I have used them also from Melbourne to Singapore and there was a 1 hour delay before the flight started (due to mechanical issues), but believe it or not, we actually reached Singapore at the usual arrival time. I wonder if the pilot took a short cut? The seats are comfortable, there is really great entertainment and the food is tasty too. The seats have an individual monitor and there is so much to watch or games to play, that I have so...
Read moremetimes not slept just to watch a great movie or play a game. Overall, travelling by Singapore Airlines made my journey much more pleasant and enjoyable. This is my favourite airlines to fly even though they are a bit more expensive than the other major carriers. It has been my experience that if the other airlines are cheaper, there is always something missing, like comfort, timings, food, anything basically. They are more expensive when I compare to other airlines on the same route, but I also travel in more comfort, have better food, excellent entertainment, and have a pleasurable flight on Singapore Airlines.ZynshaAU
Recommended while travelling with kids
I travelled with them from Melb to Singapore... (and from Singapore took their alliance Silk airlines to Ktm...)I was travelling alone with a 5month old... and I have nothing but praise for their services... as soon as they saw me carrying a baby in my baby carrier... and dragging my hand luggage.. they instantly offered to carry the hand luggage for me...my baby could not even sit at that time, so i could not just put him on my seat to put my luggage and his diaper bag on the overhead luggage carrier... and they were kind enough to do it for m...
Read moree...when they brought the food.. one of the air hostesses always took my baby.. and sat on the availabe empty seat close to me.. where i can still see my bubz.. and enjoy my lunch... when i had to go to the toilet... again they took care of him for me.. and even let me escape the long queue and use the business class toilet...My family was worried about how i would take that 17 hour in total flight.. but singapore airlines with their super reliable, efficient and friendly staff.. made my journey much easier...On my way back though... they were a bittish less helpful than b4...I had to ask for help... ather than them helping voluntarily.. but they still helped though! so while travelling from melb to Singapore I'll give them 5 stars.. but back to melb... I'd give them 3 stars... ( maybe they thought.. i was juss one of those many migrants who migrate to Aus.. and did not know about airline services and stuffs.. dunno!!!) .. so yeah.. in average 4stars!!!!! I would use them over and over for sure! More so while travelling with kids!happyhappy

Great airline
I had a great time flying with Singapore Airlines. The flight attendants were absolutely lovely and made sure we were well looked after.
The food was nicer than most airlines, and they had a good choice of current music and in-flight movies.
I will definitely fly with them again.
Nice aircraft, lovely staff, good choice of movies
A little more expensive than other airlines

Done... only just heard of these headphones, they are on the top of the shopping list, I cant be the only person to suffer this problem, perhaps the airlines should invest in them as standard. Thank you for your reply.
