Buyer beware, poor installation, property damaged. Zero accountability
Buyer beware - shoddy workmanship, broke my a/c duct, causing massive water leak in garage and damaging the ceiling. They say all the right things to get you to sign, but in truth all i can present is what happened in my honest experience - headaches of trying to get these matters resolved, there's no accountability on their part - they'll try and palm it off to their sub contract electrician. It's a good thing I have only paid the deposit. I referred Skylight 2 other household, so you would assume they'd take extra care to support my install p...roperly and fix the damage they've cause to my new property... I dare not imagine how Skylight would treat my issue if they were paid in full. No stars would be appropriate, they were reasonable with their quote and came out to install within a couple of weeks, but unfortunately that's where the positives end. Post sale service, installation, care factor - zero, bordering non existent - unless it came time to collect the STC and money - they still have not aimed up to fix the issue that they've caused but as still seeking payment - so you've been warned. A picture paints a thousand words: they cut the sarking, told me don't worry it was patched, ceiling gyprock now riddled with mould spores because of the water damage. This is my honest review to help other consumers, my only hope is that they've changed their ways and put customer feedback first, taken it on board and act in the consumers best interest.

10 months in and still having issues, last review I wrote I was then threatened to take it down even though it was factual - nothing but bullies and clearly don't care when they break the contract. I would not recommend this company, the only reason I gave them a1 star rating is because you can't give a zero rating.
Total waste of money
After dealing with a very efficient salesman, we paid a deposit. Even though we live in a regional area, we were assured that our system would be installed with a few weeks. 7 months down the track- nothing. Lodged a complaint with Department of Fair Trading- made no difference as they did not respond to a government department.
I’m sure they realise that it will cost more than the deposit was worth to try to recover the deposit.
I guess in the long run, if I’ve lost $500 but never have to deal with this mob again maybe I’m in front. Cannot imagine what it would be like trying to get warranty help

My advice- avoid them like the plague.

After I wrote my last review that have messaged back and said they won't fix it until I take my review down , my panels are a fire hazard and not installed properly they were asked to pull it down and I was told it will not be happening

Rubbish company that threatens customers
My uncle bought their products and when a problem happened, he had endless pushing calls for nothing resolved. Then after he put 1-star rating on google, the company bombarded him with calls from different people. They said they would not fix it till he removed the rating. Honestly I think the only authentic reviews are those saying they had to go to Fair Trading to get things resolved. Good luck for your choice!

Only gave 1 star because I cant submit review without it. No install by end of contract. Once I paid my deposit that was the end of it. In the first 10 weeks of contract I contacted them 4 times via email to find out when install would happen. I demanded refund but was told via email that deposits are non refundable & they had up to 4 months to install. So I gave up asking. I waited till 3 days before contract ended & I rang energy provider to get some information before I confronted Skylight & they informed me that it is illegal for installat...ions to be done without written approvals from power providers. I got a copy of the approval on 27th Jan2021 - 10 weeks after I paid deposit. So I questioned when the application was lodged & I was told it happened same day I got copy of written approval. So the 4 times I questioned when install would happen I got told lies. Out right lies because they hadn't even lodged the application to install until 10 weeks after I paid my deposit - coincidence I got written approval from energy provider same day I demanded a refund - I think not. After a second call to energy provider following day (I wanted to make sure of my facts) I rang Skylight to confront them - conversation recorded. I was told manager would return my call because again I got told installers were causing delays - the name of the installer was slipped. So while I waited for return call I rang installer. They told me that Skylight hadn't contacted them till 4 weeks before end of contract - 3 months after I paid deposit & yet Skylight are still blaming installer for delays when truth is they were never contacted. Installer told them that they could not conduct site inspection until they receive a copy of my signed contract. They did not receive copy of it till week before contract ended & there was no way install could happen within next day because installer hadn't received the panels to be installed. I got the return call which was followed up by email, telling me that because installers & product supply (that's the first time they used shortage of product as excuse for non installation) caused delays for installment & according to the T&C's they can extend the contract & if I don't agree then I am to blame for non installation which will result in my deposit being non-refundable.. Do they think I am stupid ?? The T&C's clearly state they can only extend time if I cause the time delays by changing my order - which I did not. So, I lodged complaint with CEC (Clean Energy Council) , ACCC , Office of Fair Trading - CEC have investigated & this company is no longer a member of the CEC so don't be fooled by CEC logos - they are in process of having them removed. I did get my deposit refunded on 27TH APRIL 2021 - so thank you to Office of Fair Trading. My advice to everyone - do not lose your money to this company. If you are considering solar make sure retailers & installers are CEC APPROVED RETAILERS & INSTALLERS & not just members of the CEC. That way retailers & installers have to comply with code of conduct.

To make a long story short - I spoke to steven the “operations manager” via text and got abused. He was racist and very unprofessional. I emailed the office with the screenshots of the shocking conversation, didn’t receive anything back. Thank goodness I didn’t give these people my money! Imagine having an issue afterwards and having to deal with rude and hostile employees. Please STAY AWAY and go to a respected and reputable solar company. Don’t let these people push you into a sale.
You will not find a more unprofessional bunch of people. Do not deal with them!! They will take your money upfront but take their time to actually come and install them. They are so rude if you have any issues
Avoid Skylight Energy
Initial contact was good, they send me quotation over the phone, saying they have good software, and they do not need to come for a visit. I’ve paid deposit, and after few weeks they asked for the full payment, so they would come to install the panels next day. This was in August 2018. I paid the full installments, but they never came and never talk to me in person. After waiting for their installation team to come for 6 months, I decided to pull out of the contract. Then my nightmares started, as I was not able to get my money back. Skylight...Energy has been avoiding me and not returning my money. I have even started Fair Trading Complaint against them (9735099) . Finally they have returned my money in June 2019 ( after 10 months), but not my deposit of 400$. According to them, it was my fault that they did not install anything. My advise is - I WOULD NOT TRUST this company.

Never answered calls, installation terrible, would not return to fix problems for a month until I sent them a video. I had to put up with panels banging on the roof due to poor installation

I was surprised on day of installation when asked for $300 because "my roof was steep"An employee of Skylight had previously been on my roof to check and made no mention of steep roof.
System appears to work ok but as a very elderly women I have no idea how good it is and as Skylight has only21/2 stars I do wonder

Paid deposit in March, Skylight have not installed, do not take phone calls can not give a date for installation

Once the deposit was paid, the customer service ended. Skylight Energy are the most difficult company I have ever dealt with and I am also ready to go to Fair Trading.
Installation was completed in December (I wont go into the difficulties of actually getting this installed before Xmas as promised...), however the data management unit was not installed and therefore we cannot connect this to the app for monitoring. This is an expensive system and all we expect is for it the be installed as described. N...ow its April and I have been given the runaround endlessl, calling almost every week after they continually break promises to rectify the issue. I could go on, but I get too angry. Avoid these clowns.

Don't do business with them, very unprofessional people
Back in early January this year, I've contacted this company for solar panel installation, I spoke to one of their salesmen named Stephen, he gave me a quote and was happy to proceed. I paid the required deposit of $300 straight away so I can proceed to the process immediately. It seems like it was going smoothly at first, I got an email saying that I needed to apply for the solar rebate by going to the Vic solar website, I did that, but when I was trying to find the name of the company, it was not listed and the quote they gave me was not th...ere, so I couldn't proceed. I gave Skylight a call and was told to wait as they were having some issues, I was told they will give the name of the company to use when I apply for the solar rebate. I waited for a week, then another week, then another week, for nothing, I tried again to contact them and followed up but then again, was told to wait, so I waited again....and again....finally I got tired of waiting I decided to call it off and asked for a refund, I called and emailed to get a refund but up to now still waiting...I called again today and was told to wait again. So many excuses, they had enough time to process the refund but still no, action, their excuse now is not enough people in the enough people working because of Covid, it's just for a refund, how many people do they need to do a refund? I work in the accounts and I've processed refunds for less than 5 mins, how long does it take for them to get it approved? Certainly not for more than a month!!!! Ridiculous!!! Now I'm considering to contact Fair Trading too.

I hear these guys Skylight Energy aren't actually accredited CEC retailers...yet they misrepresent that they are? Can anyone confirm? Anyone can be a CEC member, not hard to get.
I am not sure of CEC status, next week will be 12 mths since we signed the contract, and still on limbo. What has been done was well after agreed time frames and after we had stated we no longer wished to go ahead due to it not being completed in the 3 week time frame agreed. We were not informed the panel install was going to happen on the day it did, and we most certainly didn’t give consent to contractors/installers to access our property when we were not there, it was unauthorized entry ( they gained access through our garage and in our roof ) keeping in mind this was 3 mths after we stated we wanted a refund of the deposit. They have been extremely difficult to deal with and over the last 3/4 weeks they have stopped responding to emails! From personal experience I would NOT recommend them
Seems Skylight Energy like to misrepresent facts in order to mislead ... they have form here. Solar Retailer approved they are most certainly not.
This review is of Skylight Energy Solar, Rockdale NSW. There is a company with a similar name, so check the address before signing anything.
Has ANYBODY had a GENUINELY satisfactory experience with this company? I note that they have a couple of good reviews, but I'd be very suspicious that they are genuine. Most of their reviews are by 'consumers' who have only one review to their name, so you can draw your own conclusions from that.
Don't trust them at all. Zero customer service and ignore you after the steal your money. Goes through staff and installers by the bus load
I don’t do reviews really but I made a point with these guys. I can imagine if there were no missing parts etc. you could have a smooth experience. But honestly, after they made the sale they didn’t care at all... and we’re unbelievably incompetent.
That was my observation, promise the earth, and become incompetent immediately AFTER the deposit was taken. It's difficult to imagine that they are still in business, but I guess, like so many, many people don't find ALL the reviews.
I intended taking my experience to VCAT, but when they rang to tell me I wouldn't be getting my $500 deposit returned, because they don't return deposits, my partner, a lawyer was with me, and she gave them both barrels. 30 minutes later they called back and said they'd return it, but it took a further three weeks. Appalling people to do business with.
have ordered and paid deposit for solar to be installed. since Nov 2019 have heard nothing covid19 sprung up so was prepared to wait now I cant get them on the phone or email .can anyone tell me are they still in business
As far as I know. I have been chasing them until 2 weeks ago, so they were still in business then... All I can say is Good Luck!
Very painfull company to deal with. Make sure you have a detailed quote as they made lots of promises and didn't live up to any of them. I currently have a complaint in with department of fair trading
IF you can get your deposit back, take it and go elsewhere. Let me change that.......go elsewhere, and recover your deposit through QCAT, NCAT, VCAT, or whatever CAT operates in your state. They are hopeless to deal with, and dishonest in the extreme.
You WILL have difficulty recovering your deposit, and if you waited for that before going with another company, it could take months. You will get your deposit back through the Civil Tribunal in your state.
