- Medium Double
Good, but with caveats.
I'm youngish but I have joint problems due to a genetic condition and I'm a side sleeper, so I knew I wanted a soft mattress. I'm actually housebound with illness, so I also wanted to avoid, if possible, traipsing around bricks-and-mortar stores trying mattress after mattress and dealing with over-eager salespeople who really want me to spend 50% more than I'd budgeted for. For this reason I decided to try an online option first.
This was a huge purchase for me, so I did plenty of research and thought about it very carefully before buying. I'v...e been sleeping on it for almost 12 months. Ultimately I'm satisfied with my purchase, but there are pros and cons. I just want to add that this review is not incentivised in any way. I think there was a promo for a while where you got $20 cashback for a review, which is partly why there are so many. They weren't offering anything like that when I purchased my mattress. I also don't think the many positive reviews here are fake as some have suggested. The incentive that seems to have been offered at one time was for positive OR negative reviews, and I do believe that most people are happy with their Sleeping Duck mattresses. CONS: *There are only two comfort options, Medium and Firm. Other leading mattress brands offer several options, from Super Firm to Ultra Plush. I think the assumption is that most customers prefer a firm mattress, but that's quite outdated. For many people a softer mattress is recommended, and it should be an option.
Purchased in January 2019 for $999.00.

Had very high expectations from all the reviews. But for the first 3 weeks really did not get a good night's sleep. It felt too firm. I also slept on a very cheap single bed at my workplace a few nights during this time and was worried because that bed was more comfortable than my Titan! I decided to return the Titan and buy that mattress instead! But after the second rotation (first one was after 1 week, second one was after the 3rd week) things improved and it felt much softer and more comfortable. So I decided to keep it.
It defin...itely retains my body heat and I often feel a bit too warm (which I don't mind) - I may not even need to use an electric blanket this winter (which is very unusual for me because I normally need 3 quilts plus the electric blanket at night!). It has a very high profile so some of my sheets can barely be tucked under. Overall, I am satisfied and will keep it. But I was slightly underwhelmed by it.
Questions & Answers
Can the foam layers be put out in the sun, to get rid of the smell?
Is there anything else I can do, as the mattress makes my very sensitive daughter itchy.
The foam layers are removable, so yes air them in the sun, the smell will go. I also washed my new mattress cover and put that on before the sheets. I aired my mattress for several days before I slept in it with the windows wide open and the smell went.
I am extremely sensitive to smells.
Thanks for your query!
To help dissipate the smell in the foams, this can definitely be aired outside. However we would recommend avoiding direct sunlight as it can cause discolouration in the foams.
As Georgia mentioned, we would also recommend keeping the window open, as well as washing the mattress cover and sheets as it is common for the smell to linger.
If you're still experiencing trouble with the smell after a few weeks, please be sure to get in touch with our team at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1800 667 196.

Thank you, I have put the foam outside and it seems to have helped. If it has been in the sun for awhile, will it damage the foam? When putting it back does the thinner layer go on top, not sure which way it was before?
what is the weight of the medium double-double? Am using a Domino mattress which has ridged in the centre, my back is sore when I first get out of bed and, although only 24 cm thick, is virtually too heavy for even my wife and I can manage to change the bed or rotate it. We are both 80 yr-old & I have a dicky heart. How does sleeping duck compare in this area?
Thank you for asking!
Our double mattress is approximately 42kg heavy and 31cm thick. Unfortunately we're not familiar with a Domino mattress, and can't provide a comparison.
We would recommend getting in touch with us directly via email at email@example.com should you have any other questions we can help with.
