Don't let the negative reviews throw you off!
I utilised SMB through a booking company called Auto Logistics. Price was great, but I was a little put off after reading some of the negative reviews here and also because the car was pretty well brand new. Turns out there was nothing to worry about. Drop off at the Sydney depot was easy and quick. Staff were lovely. Auto Logistics didn't bother to give me an ETA but when I rang SMB after drop off they told me estimated delivery could be 15 - 20 business days. Received the car in 8 business days, stoked! Staff at Alice Springs depot were great..., friendly and gave me heaps of time to go over inspection report on my own till I was happy. Car was pristine, nil issues. Honestly don't even know why I was ever concerned. Would definitely use these guys again! A very happy customer.

Transported my car from Perth to Melbourne 10-14 days quoted, 5 week delivery even when I called at the 4 week mark the car still had not left Perth...not to mention with damage to my car. broken windshield which their staff said was already damaged (they say my windshield was more damaged when I dropped it off than it is now, funny that how it can miraculously be so damaged yet only the crack is the only wrong with it) I have given them several calls and emails which they’ve only responded since my threat to take them to small claims court ref...using the damage was their fault. Do not book with these thieves save your money, save your stress. SMB Australia are one of the dodgiest companies I’ve ever dealt with. would give them less stars if I could
Syd to Per in less than a week
Having read the reviews of movingcars, I had calculated 4 weeks for my car to be moved from Sydney to Perth. To my pleasant surprise they rang me to pick up my car in Perth, less than a week since I had left my car at the Sydney depot. Great Service!!!
Goods stolen and no responsibility taken - DO NOT USE!!
I arranged to have my car transported from Melbourne to Alice Springs through Trade Car Transport, who used SMB Australia as the carrier. Despite paying extra to have my goods transported in the car, neither company took any responsibility for the fact that $2300 worth of my property was STOLEN during the transportation. What's worse is the fact that it was clearly a staff member responsible, given they used the key they were entrusted with to break in. Management have provided NO helpful assistance since this time, and it has even been implied...that I might be falsifying that goods were there to begin with. I have been told bluntly that no compensation or apology will be provided. The car took far longer to arrive than quoted and tape used on the car has also caused paint damage. However, these things pale in comparison to the lack of responsibility and care taken for goods theft in the process. It astounds me that a company can offer a specific goods transportation service (at an additional fee) and yet have no accountability for those goods when they are in their possession. Beware - avoid using this company at all costs!!!

I booked my car to be transported from Melbourne to Perth, it was picked up on the 5th of Feb with no drama at all.
I was told transport would be between 7-10 working days, that was an outright LIE. I kept emailing and phoning for updates and I kept getting told my car hadn't left Melbourne, mine you it had been around 2 weeks at this time. I was quite concerned. When I eventually received a phone call to say my car my car was in Perth, I got a lift all the way out to the depot (1.5hours one way) to get there and they COULDN'T FIND MY CAR!! I...
Don't Even Bother..Warning Warning Warning Warning.
I used this awful company to transport my almost brand new and immaculate car from Darwin to Melbourne. When the car eventually arrived...(Eventually being the key word here) it was damaged in various places. I have called, emailed, called, called, e mailed and received nil response. [name removed]...The waste of space manager! Is always conveniently out of the office. I managed to get him on the phone by pretending to be someone else and you know what he told me....wait for it... it is my responsibility to pay the excess for the damage done t...o my car by HIS company...!!! I'm sure that's one of the reasons for using a company to transport my car....it's your god damn responsibility to look after my car you complete tool. Your insurance....your excess you incompetent!!! This company is not even worthy of the 1 star that I have had to put down!!!

Damaged Car, Not Responsive to Complaint, Ridiculous Service!
My boyfriend arranged to have his car transported from Perth to Brisbane via SMB. The whole reason he wanted to use this service was to avoid damaging his car doing the long drive across. In the end it would've been better just driving the car. The car arrived in Brisbane with oil spilt all over the front, parts of the car broken, duct tape all over the car causing scratches and damage to the paintwork, plus they let the air out of his tyres and left the lights on so the car arrived in Brisbane with a flat battery and he had to waste hours tryi...ng to even get out of the depot in Brisbane. We have been trying for over a week to have this complaint resolved by SMB, but now they have our money nobody wants to assist us. After multiple emails and countless phone calls all we keep being told is that they haven't received our photos and to try again. Their service is shocking, they have no regard for people's time or respect for their property and I would never recommend using this service. I have given them 24 hours to respond to my latest email or I will be making a formal complaint to the ACCC for compensation for damages and time wasted.
Damaged Car, Terrible Service
My car was transported from Perth to Sydney through SMB Australia, upon receiving the car, after watching it roughly be being taken off the truck, I started it to find that the exhaust pipe had been damaged. I have tried for over a month to resolve this issue and fix my car's exhaust pipe, only to have numerous emails not replied to, phone calls not returned and every excuse possible as to why I couldn't speak to any consultants dealing with my case. Despite the consignment note stating that there was no previous damage to the exhaust pipe, SMB...refuse to assist me with this issue. I would NOT recommend ANYONE to transport their car with this business, it has been a not only costly but an unnecessarily difficult experience, not made any easier by terrible service.
Stolen Item & damaged car
Upon assessment of my car in Perth, there were no scratches. I paid for "goods in car" service cost about 250 extra. I packed all my clothes, shoes, TV and designer handbags in the car as smb advertises "50 years of trust & services" and so I did. Upon receiving my car in melbourne laverton, I had found new scratches to my car as well as missing items. I reported it straight away and was told to email their support within 24hours. So I did exactly what was asked. Luckily I had taken before pictures of my car in Perth so had photos as evidence a...s well as the consignment docket which indicated no scratch from their assessor. I was told someone from support would contact me after the Easter long weekend, no one did so I called the first time at 11:39am, was told an email is being sent to me as we speak. I called again at 4:39pm as I have not yet received the email. Again I was told they are sending me an email as we speak. I recieve the email at 5:49pm telling me that they were not responsible for the scratches as well as the missing item. Also I had to pay 800 excess for the scratches???. So pretty much I got told to trust their service and pay extra for "goods in car" so that they can rob me??? (I PAID EXTRA FOR SMB TO STEAL MY THINGS??) Thank goodness I hid the box that had all my designer handbags at the very bottom of my boot. I am going to be honest, the stolen item didn't hold a great value HOWEVER its principles. All I know is SMB is guilty of theft and caused damages to my vehicle and looks like they are not taking responsibility. All I want is an apology and ownership for theft, I dont even care about the petty item and be compensated for the scratches they have made to my car. I suggest SMB take the "50 years of trust and services" off their website as this is misleading. I will be making an official police report for the theft as well as file a complaint through ACCC for the damages to my car.

I was quoted 10-14 days to get our car from Sydney to Adelaide. Contacted SMB 7 days in to see when it would be arriving was told it was leaving Sydney tomorrow. After 3 days I contacted them again as I hadn’t heard anything. I was told it hadn’t left but would be leaving tonight. This went on for another 10 days. The car finally arrived 2 weeks late and we had to hire a 4wd for a holiday that we had booked for our new vehicle. To make things worse, when it arrived the spare key was missing. Over 2 months of constantly calling to find out where my spare key was, SMB finally agreed to pay for the replacement of it. But I had to organise this service. The only positive was the car wasn’t damaged when it got here.
Still waiting for car 33 days later.
They quoted me 16-20 days to transport my car from Melbourne to Darwin. I have been waiting 33 days and my car is still not here. I have contacted many times however, they change the delivery date every time I speak to them. The office people I spoke to were rude and offered no apology or empathy. I contacted the depot that my car is supposed to be delivered to, they informed me this company is not a good company and they have transported the wrong car all the way to Darwin on 2 different occasions. After all this I still am unaware of when my car will be delivered and have not been offered a refund or apology. Do not go with this company!

Moved my car from Melbourne to Brisbane in 8 days
SMB helped me to move my car from Melbourne depot to Brisbane in a very reasonable time. I dropped off the car in Melbourne 8th Feb and it was ready for collection in Brisbane on 16th. There where no damage to the car or any other surprises. However, I would suggest that you could improve 2 things: 1) In both Melbourne/Brisbane depot it's really hard to locate your office unless you ask someone. Big "SMB Transport" signs will help a lot. 2) I didn't get any updates where my car is until I emailed your first on 16th. Regular email updates will be appreciated.
Would never use service again
Sent my car over on January 24th from Sydney to Perth. Was told 15-20 business days. Called two weeks into this given time frame and was told it would arrive by Feb 21st. Called on Feb 19th- no answer for the whole day. Called on Feb 20th- was told that my car would be arriving March 7th and that the car hasn’t even left Sydney due to “back log”. Was NEVER even notified of the change in date which is absolutely ridiculous as I had called 2 weeks ago and they could have told me that this delay was expected. I wasted money on hiring a rental car ...for another two weeks, was inconvenienced majorly as I have equipment in the car that I will need to use and planned to have back. Car was just sitting who knows where whilst family back at home could have been using it and therefore wasting money on another rental car. Absolutely traumatic and would never use again.
Pleasantly surprised, will use again!
Cheapest quote out of nine. Called on Monday, car delivered from Melbourne to Sydney on Wednesday morning, less than 48 hours. No damage, not even a scratch. Polite and friendly service. I am very happy. I recommend them and will tell everyone, hence my presence here.

how hard is it to track where my car is I'm not cranky just can't figer out your tracking system HELP please
Honestly Anthony, I have transported many cars with SMB, and I never needed to track my cars because it didn't make any difference in terms if delivery time. SMB is slow but cheap, they also transport non-running cars. Their estimated time is always correct if they said 4 weeks it will be 4 weeks knowing that the car still in depot or transit isn't important for me.
If you need urgent transport they are not your best option.

I would not use them again. My car was two weeks late, with no communication from them whatsoever. My hat was also stolen from my car, with them not caring one iota
