37 days to transport Melb - North Coast NSW
SMB may be competitive on price, but it seems you get what you pay for. It took them 37 days to deliver a car from Melbourne metro to northern NSW. And that is a from a Melbourne car dealership. No information was ever provided by the carrier, I had to call every few days to find out what was going on. The car literally sat at their Sydney depot for 2 weeks going nowhere. I was told that the car was out for delivery 3 times and obtained the necessary Unregistered Vehicle Permits and booked in a Blue slip inspections etc, only to have them not s...how up. No phone call to say don't come. 37 days is possibly the worst delivery time possible. When asking SMB to try and explain what went wrong, rather than simply say "I agree, that is pretty bad", they chose to get defensive. First it was a truck breakdown, then driver hour limits, then blah blah. I don't think any level of excuses can cover for a 4 week delay in delivery.
Transported a trailer for me within the Perth area. Unfortunately the business is full of incompetent people. Trailer was damaged and once they finally admitted the damage i was told i would be contacted by the insurance department. No contact and it has been months now of me calling, sending quotes etc but they just ignore the calls and emails. If using this company be prepared for your stuff to be ruined.
Damage not covered at all
Transported a brand new range rover, noticed the interior console has significant scratching and interior (front/back seats) all dirty as if someone sat it in.
Called on day or arrival, and each day for 1 full week - support staff somehow always at lunch.
[Name Removed] in support is unhelpful and deceitful. Implying interior damage is somehow not covered...she notes a T&C relating to personal property and affects as to way the interior is the same, its clearly not.
No help and careless.
Terrible customer service also, no tracking on the car at all just guess work.
Not worth rating
10 emails and still no car. Did it go by sea, rail or road. Who knows…probably got Covid and got hospitalised. Don’t try the 1300 as it doesn’t even go to voice mail or maybe hasn’t been cleared from year dot
3.5, car arrived safely but average communication and updates
Good news and most important is the car arrived safely and at an attractive price. The bad news it took a couple weeks longer than their worst case expectation. I can excuse that with all the covid 19 lockdowns however I would expect some updates along the way without me having to request updates every time. If your say car is delayed until a specific date and know it wont make it, communicate that. Very difficult to plan alternatives when the information is sparse and out of date. Otherwise no issue from me and I'm a fastidious car owner. (I am sender and receiver)
These companies need to be avoided at all costs
I booked through CAR TRANSPORT EXPRESS, paid the money they wanted, then two days after, CAR TRANSPORT EXPRESS asked for more cash!!!! said they under charged me, so i paid more which i was not happy about. A week after this i received an email saying SMB was taking over. I did not realise that CAR TRANSPORT EXPRESS use SMB Australia. The car was shipped from Victoria to Perth , when you email both these company's about the progress and ETA the emails from both SMB AND CAR TRANSPORT EXPRESS are lies there was no truth to any of the emails i sta...rted to wonder if my car was really going to get here. Received the car but it wasnt on time at all. Car was not damaged and was a bit dusty but that was to be expected. Would I recommend these companies no!!!! Charged to much staff are rude emails are lies and car was late
Terrible service and car covered in tape and residue - needed detailing as a result. Disgusted.
As other reviews state, customer service is DISGUSTING here. I took my car to the Melbourne depot. The truck driver was working alone and there was no one in the office. He said he was filling in. I tried to pay him, and he said to pay on the other end in Darwin as he doesn’t know how. Then, after a whole month (yep, a month) my car arrives in Darwin. However, I was told to transfer before I can pick up - after it had arrived. I told this to [Name Removed] via email, she then proceeded to say this hadn’t happened and called me a liar. I’m absol...utely shocked to say the least. NEVER, ever choose SMB. They’re the cheapest for a reason. Disgusting. EDIT: Be careful, they will damage your car paint! Car was picked up and found to be covered in duct tape, sitting in the sun. This company have zero care in the world for your vehicle. I left a 50K 4 month old car in their care and got it back covered in sticky tape residue, including caked over the paint work and the $1K window tint. It cost me $150 to get the car detailed externally to remove the melted tape residue covering the entire car. DO NOT USE SMB - they have NO CARE AT ALL for your car. Again, read the google reviews, they tell an accurate story about this company. I will tell a soul itself anyone who will listen, for the rest of my life, DO NOT use this negligent company.
Do not use this company
Had our car picked up from Sydney for be transported to Qld, 5000 grands worth of damage. They blame the yard for the damage yet not marked by their driver on pickup. Sooner they are put out of business the better.
Damage on my vehicle
As I picked up my vehicle from the depot it had a dent and paint scratched off the boot. They clearly reversed into something and took no responsibility. I wouldn’t recommend this company
Damaged occured to my vehicle whilst under consignment with SMB Australia Car Transport
My Vehicle was shipped by a reputable Dealership in what appeared to be fantastic condition and SMB was the contractor who conveyed my vehicle from Brisbane to Sydney on the 5 March 2021. It arrived in Sydney Depo 8 March 2021. The vehicle Sat at their depot till 12 March 2021. I Received my brand new car with only 50Klms on the odometer and my 20" front passenger mag wheel had been scraped in three areas of the wheel. My front bumper bumper had sustained impact damages, scraping the whole front bumper from one side to the other. My drivers doo...r had been impacted and red paint chipped off too. Having written to this company three times in the week ending 19 March, 2021, none of my emails were responded too. I contacted their office and their lovely staff said I had to deal with [Name Removed], but was subsequently unable to take my call or confirm receipt of my emails and damages their business were responsible for. It is very upsetting when having to trust businesses like this and this is the end result. This experience has left me severely disappointed not to mention the lack of communication or responsibility taken in this matter.
Vehicle arrived weeks later and damaged.
I chose to go with this company to transport my vehicle from Brisbane to Perth as it had the best price and fastest delivery as per quote. 17 business days was the quote I received on the 30th of November. My car was then available 49 days later with a damaged tail light and missing aerial. I was given multiple false days of arrival which I had booked time off work to collect. My cost of the transport has added another $1000 for the parts I will now have to replace. In trying to justify these damages I’ve sent multiple emails & calls & no one seems to care or reply. I will never be using this business again & recommend anyone one of thinking to use them to read the countless reviews.
My vehicle was damaged. Rude and unorganised!!
There are not very good processes to keep track of clients vehicles and possessions, or their associated delivery timelines. Communication is also severely lacking. I had to contact numerous people to find out when my vehicle was going to be delivered, all individuals were extremely rude and unhelpful. P & S paid their subcontractor SMB (contrary to other correspondence received) for the delivery of a vehicle that hadn’t even been delivered. In the original email and quote I was told the ETA was 16 working days and after booking and finalising...payment I was told 20 working days. After my car had finally arrived after 31 working days (6 weeks) I came to find dents and marks in the roof (where the straps must have been placed) and my antenna missing. Would I recommend P&S Logistics or SMB Car Transport? Absolutely not. To pay so much for a service to have my vehicle damaged, awful communication, rude service and an unrealistic (and extremely late) delivery time is absolutely disappointing to say the least.
BAD SERVICE AND UNRELIABLE
We purchased a new van which was modified for use with a wheelchair and the supplier sent our finished van from Adelaide to Orange NSW with SMB. The delivery was very time critical as we needed the vehicle to travel and we can't just hire another car. The Adelaide depot was told that the vehicle had to be delivered within the 7 day time frame they advertise but the vehicle didn't arrive until a week later than promised.
I had to phone the head office everyday to chase up what was happening with the vehicle and was told they would ring me with u...
I used these guys to transport my car from WA to NSW and they bent the control rod on my car where it had been strapped down on the truck. It was a very scary drive from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast (after a wheel 'specialist' also missed this crucial default). They also said it would take 2-3 weeks for my car to arrive but it actually took just under 5 weeks. There was no communication, I was constantly having to chase them up for information. I chose these guys because they were cheap but it was futile because I had to pay to get my car fixed. When I tried to contact them to get some compensation they wouldn't return calls or emails. I will never use them again and warn all my friends and family against using them.
I hope my comments be seen by senior management (CEO, Board ) of the company st strategic level
I hope my comments be seen by senior management (CEO, Board ) of the company st strategic level, you folks can not go on like this, you are heading into corporate and financial suicide. I setup a business from nothing and now worth over 60 Million, it took me 20 years to set this up and I know thing or two about customer service to get where I am now. You can not make everyone happy 10 to 15 % of customers always going to whinge no matter what, unreasonable expectations etc, may be in building and transport industry up to 25%, because of the v...ariables in these industries, but you can not have 80% of customers whinge about your business and only 20% or occasionally happy campers, look at your reviews bad to good, every 8 bad reviews you may get 2 good reviews, come on fellows, something is terribly wrong with your business need fixing up, I used you guys recently, and just like everyone else I had issues, delivery did not come on time, when contacted through email no response, no information provided customer about delays, when you ring you get the privileged to talk with someone with heavy Asian accent I believe in Philippines, OK fellows, if you want to save dollars moving your call center overseas it is justified but you need to have a process when customer escalate issues as opposed to heavily accented individual rather just reading what is already available to the customer through the website with the tracking number, no fill service need to meet the customer expectations, (yes I understand longer ETA), for anyone to consider premium service. Why don't you manage customer expectations better, be realistic with your delivery times, If I were you I will get my team to add 20% buffer to anticipated ETA, so you don't keep telling customer fibs all the time and you built business reliability through this, if and when there are delays, keep the customer informed, it does not take too much to send an email to the customer or offer the customer 50$ gift voucher, for extended delays etc, immediately you built better relationship with customers and also reputation and business reliability, at the moment you are at the butt end of business reliability, look at some of the businesses that fail over the years how they were doing 5 years before they fail, I can see almost identical pattern with you guys, if you don't change folks, you are in the pathway to the end, you need to change how you do business otherwise you are heading into disaster, I personally don't want to attack other folks livelihood, I hope I have given something for you to think about, for me I will not be using you folks for a while unfortunately as I need someone reliable for dollars I spend, you are not ticking the boxes for me at the moment, All the best
Questions & Answers
So far I am unhappy with SMB service. They should know that there is a holiday (Easter) during the process. I made 3 phone calls before Easter and asking when will my car arrive to Darwin from Melbourne and they said it would the there on 06/04 in the first call and then the end of 6th week and then 12/04 and today 06/04, they said it would arrive at the end of next week (16/04). The reason for these delay is because of Easter holiday!!! I have read all the review from the top and feel like they did this with more than 70% customers here. I will wait until my car come to officially write a review about thier servicw as one of the big issues here with them is they damaged customer car (I hope it will not happen to me but ...)
how hard is it to track where my car is I'm not cranky just can't figer out your tracking system HELP please
Honestly Anthony, I have transported many cars with SMB, and I never needed to track my cars because it didn't make any difference in terms if delivery time. SMB is slow but cheap, they also transport non-running cars. Their estimated time is always correct if they said 4 weeks it will be 4 weeks knowing that the car still in depot or transit isn't important for me.
If you need urgent transport they are not your best option.
I hope this helps
thanks for that just a little to keen to get it i guess
