Flaking Enamel Paint.
This is my 4 new Smeg oven which had several different problems when first purchase approx 3 years ago.. The last oven was replaced in Sep 2020 because we noticed that after we did the pyrolytic clean. The enamel paint was flaking off the front on the top (in front of the oven door). Its now October 2021 and the enamel paint is flaking off at the same spot as the previous oven. At the moment I have informed the service agents and are monitoring it. Can Smeg let us know whether this is a bad batch (Any service bulletins related to this) fr...
Flaking enamel inside oven
Built a new house May 2018. November 2019 noticed the enamel coating on top inside of oven flaking off. Rang Smeg, got a replacement oven. Noticed it has happened again (May 2021), only had this oven for 15 months. Contacted Smeg, took photos. Spoke to a customer service rep who wasn’t overly helpful and didn’t seem to care for issue. Not sure too many customers want enamel in their food. Another new oven order but not installed yet. Don’t have much trust in this product and wouldn’t recommend. Have also had display go completely blank half way through cooking.
Purchased in December 2019.
SMEG DOSPA6395X - Double Pyrolitic oven
Had my Smeg Double Oven installed in March this year. Worked great until nearly finished cooking then main oven unresponsive. Nothing would work. Tried left control to exit function but unresponsive. Tried turning timer to zero unresponsive. In the end had to turn off oven at mains as oven controls froze. When I turned the oven back on worked fine. Over the next few uses had similar issues. Seems control board either has a loose connection or chip failure. If this keeps happening will be sending it back.
Plus: Beware of pyrolitic ...cleaning function. It is fantastic however inside enamel does not like it and after second clean has cracked at top of oven opening. Was really hoping this fault was sorted with this newer model as had the problem with the previous model after 3 pyro cleans. Has some great features but the main fantastic feature i.e. pyro cleaning doesn't work well as starts to disintegrate enamel on inside of oven. It's a good size and love preset recipes but comes with too many issues. Rachel
Purchased in March 2020 at Kitchen Things for $3,600.00.
Great oven ... shame about the cash back promise!
A great oven and we're very happy with the appliance. It took a while to learn the controls but the results have been great and better than we expected. Sadly the offer of a cashback that has failed to materialise was a disappointment.
Purchased in June 2019.

Stylish, functional an reliable oven
Super oven that we use far more frequently than our previous (Westinghouse) one. Heats up quickly, cooks evenly and has great functions. Highly recommended addition for any kitchen. Yes, it is in the upper price range but you get what you pay for and I expect it will last for years.
Sleek looking oven
Loving this oven. Oven beeps when it's heated to required temperature. Has several different features for cooking. Has a grill and oven option at the same time also can be set to eco friendly heating. Has a timer setting. Easy to use, Easy to clean. It has a pyrolitic option so it's extremely easy to keep clean.
Exploding inner glass during pyrolytic clean
This oven cooks food well. I found the warm air released out above the top door some time to get used to. Tonight I decided for the first time to use the pyrolytic self clean function. I purchased the oven in February 2017. After reaching 30mins into the cycle I heard a pop and explosion. I was standing in close proximity to the oven by the kitchen sink. Clumps of glass and smaller shards were on the floor, bench tops and sitting above both doors to the oven. I quickly turned off the oven at the mains and could hear the glass inside the oven sh...attering and pop for another 5-10minutes. I had 3 children at home at the time and had only just moved away from the front of the oven minutes before the explosion. Considering the distance the glass was blown I am very lucky not to have been seriously injured. This was extremely dangerous and not an issue that I had been aware of. I paid a considerable amount of money for the pyrolytic option and being a new model I am surprised that this actually happened. I contacted SMEG immediately after this happened, I am still very alarmed.

Questions & Answers
Hello my parents bought this oven DOSPA6395X less than 18 months ago.
It’s having a few issues, the knobs are getting super hot as in it burns you. Bottom oven not heating up properly.
Need assistance please.
Hi Scotty Mac, Thank you for reaching out. Can you please email us with your parents full name address and contact telephone number so that we can organise an inspection/ repair. Our email address is email@example.com and please mark to the attention of Lesley. Kind regards, Smeg Australia.
I have, thank you for the swift response. As this was a staff purchase for them I’m struggling with a receipt. Just trying to work it out.
Would be a real shame knowing this product has failed so quickly after installing and given that it is burning the user.
I was just about to buy this oven. Apart from the various concerns above, I am most concerned at the exploding glass issue. Is this still a problem with this oven?
Leigh i was worried about this too. The repairer who replaced the metal on the front of my oven, said that only if the glass is left very dirty or covered in oil during pyrolitic does it explode. Having said that, i am yet to use that function as it worries me too.
Thank you for your reply! I think I am going to go with another brand I found. A bit dearer but excellent reviews. Thanks for taking the time to reply and best wishes for non-exploding glass. I'm so excited but so nervous!! :)
I have never had an issue with exploding glass but big issues with the pyrolitic function. It works so well it damages internal enamel lining. It not only cleans oven but it weakens enamel cavity. This would be my third oven. Bought a newer model thinking newer one wd be better but I think it is worse.
How do I remove the top hand rail on my oven? It prevents the oven being fully pushed back into wall
This is not possible. You will need to modify your joinery to make it fit correctly.
the top rail holds all your controllers to the computer on top of the oven. I suggest you modify your cupboard and get a covering plate made at a joinery works. I hope this is helpful cheers Fred.
