Glass top crack too.

Don't buy any cooktop with glass. You will be regretted.

I was surprised there are so many problem with the top. Mine cracked after purchased for 6 months but only installed for 2 months. The glass top cracked too, was careful with the glass top. But start cracking in the middle, start with a small crack in the middle. When discovered, the crack is only about a finger nail long on the side. At that time, I was thinking it should not be a problem and did not call the service. However the crack quickly propergated across the top after a few months, and a chip appeared on where the crack starts. When call a technician, have been told we will need to cover the techician call out fee. And the technician was judged the top was chipped with a drop of spoon or cooking pan on the side and the crack propagated across the top. And will charge us $900 for replacement.

The fact that the crack was first developed and then the chip appeared later is so different to what was judged.

Thinking a bit more, even the top was drop by a spoon or cooking pan, it is an expected condition in kitchen. Like the gentleman described in another Smeg product with glass top, his cooktops was cracked by a drop of spoon. This is a common situation. The reason is still unacceptable.

Feels like just want to make up a reason so the user need to cover the quality defects.
