Total waste of money.
Had a health check on my Solargain inverter and panels
Cost $220.00 for the person who Solargain sent to look at my inverter and stand in the garden and look at the roof where the solar panels are something I can do myself .
He then informed me it was working fine .
He lived around the corner from my property not bad money for twenty minutes work.
Poor Customer Service
We rang Solar Gain two weeks as our solar system was not working. They were booked in to come today to inspect and more than likely install a new inverter. We were advised it would be after 2pm. At 2.30 we rang and were told that they were not coming and we would need to rebook a new appointment which would not be until the 21st December. This totally unacceptable as that would have meant we waited over a month for a simple service call. Solar Gain have just lost our sale and any recommendation on our behalf.
Gobsmackingly bad customer service
I signed up for new installation on 2nd August 2018. Installation was booked for 3rd September and I was told it'd take 2 days. Installers turned up on that day, started the work, left all the panels in the front yard unsecured and disappeared. A week later I called Solargain to see whats happening and I was told there's a delay in meter upgrade and no confirmed completion was given. So I had to move all the panels to safety. A fortnight later EVO energy upgraded the meter and followed by the installers putting up the rest of the panels on the ...roof but not connected. Again after many phone calls and complaints, another tradie rocked up month later to do a meter box upgrade but didn't complete the job either. Left with a tag on the safety switch warning not to remove the tag or turn it on. It has been like this ever since. Now it is 5th December and still not connected. Every attempt to contact Solargain results in the same response "So and so will call you in an hour and resolve your issues" but that call never comes. Zero marks for communication and zero marks for customer (non) service!!!
requested a quote from this company to upgrade my inverter to three phase and after receiving quote and supplying pictures of DB that were requested I gave them the contract to install. The day before installation I received a text message saying that the installation cost had increased by a whopping 25% and did I still want to go ahead. For a company who self professes to be a market leader this sort of rorting stinks.

Unfinished business and no communication !!
Our solar system was installed over a period of 4 days instead of the one day they told us it would take. Twelve days down the line after the installer visited our property they haven't submitted the inspection form to ACT Planning. A form which is mandatory for the system to be turned on.
So almost 2 weeks after installation we have a non-functional unit which has been fully paid for and no communication as to what is happening.
Only after numerous calls to the Canberra office and the WA office we learnt that the installer is having 'technical' issues in submitting a form !!
I wish I had better feedback to give, we were so excited by out decision to go solar. Not so sure now.
Solargain poor experience
Signed up for a solar system with solargain, when the installers came to fit the system I was informed that it would not fit on our roof. Installer said this was common as salesmen designs the system with a picture from Google earth. installer said that the salesman should have organised a site visit prior to installation. Phoned salesman and got all the apologies in the world. within half an hr got another system design that felt very cobbled together. We were extremely disappointed and decided to hold of and look at different systems.
Delay in replacing invertor and Worst in Compensation Claim
I got the system installed in April/May 2015, invertor system stopped working in June/July 2017 (aprrox.) got it fixed, same problem came back and it took more then 1 month for solar gain to replace the system. 1 month is not a problem when they promise you compensation claim. But that replacement was a such a struggle, all the staff member you will speak with, will promise you that you will get a call back from someone - that someone may be do not exist. In short it was frustrating to have it replace and I literally had to chase them every wee...k 2-3 time as they keep saying that 'someone will contact you and I have left notes that that someone will call you'. I was simply frustrating and not worth it for the amount of $ i spent. So I will rate customer service as Zero star or even negative. I registered my complaint on 12th Jan 2018 via email had finally got it fixed by 19th Feb 2018. My complaint via email was not even acknowledged until I actually called back in 1 weeks time to see what are they doing about it, and the person I spoke with confirmed that email has been received but o action has been taken. So why to have this email service if there is no one to read them. Now for the last 3 weeks I have been waiting and following up with THAT SOMEONE that their customer service staff have been promising that SOMEONE will call me back shortly. On 9th Mar 2018 I spoke to a customer service staff and she said that [name removed] from their department is looking into my case and she promise me that she will have her call me back, as after two minutes of trying she found that [name removed] is with SOMEONE else on the phone. I really hope that SOMEONE do exist in Solar gain. For solar gain, I live in Aveley - just in case you may thing it is a bogus review, I am sure with my name and suburb you can track the whole case. As this is how each time, you customer service staff is been identifying me.
5 months later, no meter-box upgrade, higher bills, 3 holes in roof
It has taken over 5 months, after having the solar panels installed and the bills are far far higher because they failed to send the job to Origin to have our meter-box upgraded, but switched on the inverter before leaving and told us to keep it running anyway until the meter-box is upgraded, which it never was.
By doing this, our meter-box which is not equipped for solar has ran up our bills by hundreds of dollars instead of reducing them. I even had Origin confirm that this is what happened because we didn't have a spinning disk meter, it...wasn't able to run back the bill, only add to it. During this time, I have received appalling service from the team and manager of this company and would not recommend them to anyone. It's honestly the worst incident with a company I've ever experienced, as what they did was illegal and yet they would not admit to anything and the Manager ([name removed]) was extremely rude and was trying to place the blame back on us. It wasn't until I proved that this has happened to several other customers in the past that they then offered financial compensation, but not enough to cover all of the damages. They also have created 3 leaks in our roof, which was not previously there and we are going to have to pay for someone else to come fix them. Please refer to reviews from Steven Moon and Meera Khan (on trustpilot) who appear to have experienced the exact same screw up from this company. There is another local man a street down from me who also suffered from the same screw up from Solargain and had higher bills also.
Been waiting all day (Monday), at substantial cost, for the installation of a replacement inverter, having been assured that the installer would phone over the weekend to confirm. No call!! Rang their 1300 number spoke to sales person who arranged this. Gave the lame excuse that my phone number had been recorded incorrectly and couldn't contact me. Response "White Pages" you have my name and address, look it up! Too hard!! Now i have to waste another day waiting for the installer to come, on Wednesday, sometime. I'll believe it when the job is finished. The only reason I'm staying with these cowboys is cost and that no-one else will come out bush. The original provider went belly up soon after my system was installed.
Contracted to have it installed 02/08/2017... its continuously being rescheduled without Solarpain giving adequate reasons. No emails are being answered and when we catch Solarpain on the phone they simply promise another install date - none of which have eventuated - and worse they do not even notify us leaving us to await their arrival on that day. No GAIN, just PAIN.

Poor communication by a sales person
Organised for a design consultant to come out to give me a quote. He turned up 40 minutes late. I had to call him up to ask him where he was. He was stuck in traffic. I don't mind it someone is running late though a phone call or text message would have been nice. When he finally arrived he went through a few different options and said he would email the quote out the next day (Seemed like a nice enough guy at this stage). This didn't happen. I messaged him to ask where it was. No reply then the next morning the quote appears. I emailed him wi...th a few queries I had plus sent a text message saying I had sent him and email and received no reply from him at all. The next day he replys saying he would call me that day to discuss further. No call back. I emailed again asking I would appreciate a call back as what he quoted on doesn't even make sense. He had quoted me on a system which doesn't even make sense (Was shown to 2 other companys who agreed) Still no call back.
I really wanted to offer a better rating given that the products and price were good. It all started well with the quote and Solargain were very understanding when I had to postpone installation due to some issues with a leaking roof that I had to sort out first. However, once we got to installation stage the service has been absolutely terrible.
Firstly, the first installer did not show up at all. I take a day of work expecting the installer and nothing - not even any word. When I tried to find out from Solargain what was happening I was tol...
Poor Sales Process, Poor Aftersales Service, Only highlight was the installer
I deeply regret going with Solargain for our PV Installation in the Northern Suburbs of Perth. I had done a lot of research and found Solargain to be getting reasonable reviews and had some reasonable quality products that they use.
I approached three Solar Companies in Perth, after doing significant research I knew exactly what brand and model of Panel I wanted and what Inverter I wanted. I made it very clear to the Solargain Sales Rep that I was comparing prices but it was for equivalent systems from different retailers, I didn't want a "C...heap" system The Sales Rep didn't listen to me, he proceeded to quote me on the cheapest range available. Only after a number of days of going back and forth (His response time to emails was very poor) did he give us a quote for the system we were after. After a bit of further negotiation we proceeded with Solargain, Not because of the Sales Rep (He was average at best and didn't listen to our needs or have a great knowledge) but because the price was right. Installation lead time was longer than expected and the process that they insisted I follow with getting Western Power approval was tedious. That was OK tho and to this point I was still fairly happy with Solargain given the price paid. Installation day came around and the gentlemen who came to install the system was fantastic, clearly an expert in his field, he was knowledge, super efficient, very clean and other than a few minor things I asked him to tidy up on he did a brilliant job.
Worst after sales service
I have had issues with my inverter for over a year. i have now been waiting over 6 weeks for someone to return my calls in regard to where my warranty replacement inverter is. Once they have your money, and if you have issues they don't care.
Check out other suppliers and check reviews on follow up customer service, because this company has no clue.
Be Very Careful Using Solargain Or Renesola Panels
I paid $8000 for a 6 kw system, 3 years later 16 out of 24 have bad so called snail trails / micro cracks and solargain won't do anything to help fix their faulty product. So be very careful using solargain. Or renesola panels, so much for their warranty. Everyone who used solargain needs to get they panels checked now.
Complete waste of time
Signed up for a system in December with install due Feb. Was advised a site inspection would take place in the meantime, followed up when I didn't see anyone at the start of Feb, was told it'll be fine I'm sure it's been done. Then on the day it was supposed to be installed I'm told the site inspection hasn't been completed and will be done the Monday following. Of course nobody shows up, I crack it at them and they make up some nonsense about my roof (Flat tin) being unsuitable for a solar install and say they'll cancel my order - something I've now waited over 2 months for.

Appalling customer service
I'm trying to get a solar inverter replaced, I have called solar gain now on 4 occasions and been told I would be called back on each occasion.
I have not been called back once. In the meantime I have lost valuable time finding another option in the belief that solar gain, as they advertise, would be able to fix the problem. So dealing with this company has been a waste of time and money. I could not possibly recommend this business to anybody as this display of customer service is nothing short of diabolical.
Had solargain here in Kalgoorlie to install our system. Now that we have a broken panel no one seems interested. Apparently I need to chase up my own replacement panel or if they ship one to us it will cost us to have it freighted. Apart from me doing all the work, contact from the office is poor. They won't even send out a rep. If you have a warranty issue with solargain, don't expect to get any joy out of it.
May 30th 2017 Update: Ongoing issues with Solargain.
I have posted a previous review regarding the very poor customer service...we have experienced with Solargain. Now we are having issues with shoddy inverters. As per below I have copied content between ourselves and Solargain. Names have been omitted and the transcript is easy to follow: Recent email from me to Solargain: More recently we have dealt with a shattered panel. Apparently crows fly around in the sky randomly dropping stones. We clearly had a clever one because out of 21 panels the said crow managed to hit the same panel several times..... Given that in general it is claimed panels can withstand large hail stones, we still find the whole response a huge joke. So now our inverter has died. This is the second inverter. With an initial 5 year warranty we understandably expected that the product would last at least that long. We got 3 years. It was replaced by a scratched up reconditioned unit and voila, it too has only lasted about 2 years....
I'd love my solar PV installation - if I could use it
Had Solargain install a 5Kw System on 14 November 16. the inr tall look's be done professionally and works well in test mode. Unfortunately for reasons unknown and despite numerous emails to Solargain they cannot give me a date for having my system commissioned. My Energy Supplier has not been advised by solargain that I have the system installed so until Solar gain pay the energy supplier my system sits idle...
AVOID, slow & poor customer support
I live in Canberra & it has now been 6 weeks since they installed. Solargain took full payment with promises from [name removed] the contractor who installed the 3kw system that the meter will be upgraded, inspected & connected to the grid within a week and a half. It's now been over 6 weeks, numerous phone calls to Solargain have been ignored, still not inspected or connected to the grid & unable to use or harvest any solar power. They never call back or follow up. AVOID Solargain.
Complete incompetence from start to finish. We contacted Solargain in WA to have a 5kw system installed. I spoke to a salesman over the phone and decided to go ahead with the installation. My partner then took time off work for a trademan to come around and measure up the job. Instead of a tradesman in comes a suit who tries his hardest to sell us a system we had already committed to buying. The suit didn't bring anything resembling a tape measure so effectively wasted the meeting and my partners day off. At this point I have contacted the mana...ger in the office and made it clear I was unimpressed and he promised to send around a tradesman to measure up (meaning one of us needed to take another day off work). Tradesman rocks up and measures the roof, giving the illusion he knew what he was doing. Ok, things seem to be getting back on track. Installation day rolls around and surprise surprise, the trademan cant operate a tape measure and the panels wont fit on the north facing section of my roof leaving me to make the decision on the spot as to where they can be installed instead (and knowing full well im now losing efficiency). To the installers credit he was clearly uncomfortable and apologetic for the issues his work mates had caused and the rest of the installation went relatively smoothly. I'm now in the market for another system for a different property and I sure as hell wont be going with Solargain. Beware.
I had a unit installed by Solargain and they didn't leave me a instruction manual for the Fronius IG 60 Inverter. The installer said sorry, must have got rid if it with the rubbish when it was installed and said he would get one sent out, nothing happened, I contacted Solargain again and they said Fronius do not provide a instruction manual so print one off their web site. I was not happy with this answer and I contacted Solargain again to talk to a manager and the person I talked to put me on hold for 20 minutes and then cut me off, so I rang...back, this time to the accounts department and a very nice girl said I will ask my manager and guess what the answer was, print one yourself. Now I sent an e-mail to the Fronius supplier in Sydney and I had an answer within 2 minuits and he said this is a lie, all Fronius inverter come with an Instruction manual and we have put one in the post for you and you should have it within 3-4 days. (now that's good service) If solargain gives me this much crap over an instruction manual, what is it going to be like if I need something under warranty. DO NOT LIE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS, IT'S NOT GOOD FOR BUSINESS
Customer Service Stops Once they Have the Sale
Was convinced by salesman [name removed] to upgrade inverter to receive trouble free warranty. Inverter out for 7 days, told to wait another 7 days and then they might get back to me...pathetic. Do not use Solar Gain
They're currently installing a solar system at my house and they're charging me $350 for a piece of fireproof backing board for the meter.
$350 to stick in a $50-$100 piece of fireboard behind the meter is a rude surprise. Especially, as I made them well aware that this need to be done at the time of quoting. This type of thing is the reason why the solar industry has such a bad rep.
Not a great start even before the unit is installed.
Bad bad bad
Had a solar hot water system installed by Solargain 4 years ago. System has never worked properly. Frost valve failed after 13 months, and the warranty only covered it for 12, so I footed the repair bill. Panel froze then leaked after 3.5 years into a 5 year warranty. Called up immediately but service was slow. Now without hot water for a week. Solargain trying to fob off the failure onto Chromagen, the panel manufacturer. They too have been poor. They've taken 3 days just to inspect the panel, let alone do something about it.
Do not use this company.
Looked good in the brochures.
Bad service, dodgy warranty.
Questions & Answers
How to download the solar gain app
Hi Pat. We do not have our own app, but the inverters we supply often do. What brand of inverter do you have installed at your home? Kind regards, Solargain
Thats what children are for, remotes & Apps
I have just had a solar system installed and they put the wrong panels on my roof. They gave me 22 stp 300s suntech panels and we should have had 21 315 watt trina split cell panels. My question is should I get them to swap the panels to the correct panels or are the ones I have been given just as good and I leave them on the roof save messing about.
Hi Gary, was the system installed by Solargain or a different company? We don't stock the products you're referring to (Trina or Suntech). If you would like to discuss this over the phone, please call us on 1300 73 93 55 and ask for our Service Department.
Some years ago Solar Gain put us in 6 panels and later a new hot water system. We were impressed with the service but would like some advice/quotes on possibly upgrading the current system we have. We live in Maida Vale
Hi David, thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We're so happy to hear that you're impressed with Solargain! We've sent you a message regarding the advice/quote. Kind regards, Solargain.
David, like you we installed six panels and a 1.2 kW inverter along with a solar hot water system with a gas booster. The solar panels was via solargain and after ten years our inverter failed. Our hot water tank started leaking so we had Solargain install 9 panels, a 2 kW inverter and an i store hot water system. So far we are very happy but it has only been installed for about five weeks. We are producing a lot more energy and lots of hot water.
Hi Golly, thank you for the advice. iStore is an exciting new & innovative product and we are sure that you will be very happy with it. We look forward to getting your feedback in the future. Kind regards, Solargain.
