The sales representative was extremely helpful and happy to field all my questions. The installation was smooth and unobtrusive with the team seeing me updated on the process as it occurred.
Not perfect, but Great Value and Design
I chose Solargain for their service and reliability.
- They were very patient with me in the initial enquiry phase. They provided me with different system configurations to consider, allowing me to change even after the initial system design confirmation. Altogether we explored over 5 different setups over a few weeks, and finally settled on one that we were really pleased with. There was no deposits required, which was great.
- Price. Their pricing is very competitive for the quality systems they provide. I paid $6800 for a 10.7k syste...m with a Fronius inverter, and they were willing to throw in a Fronius smart meter for free. That was very good. - Design. I had a few designs by other companies that I was not really impressed with. Solargain's designs were very neat and well thought out. I think that was one of the main reasons I decided to explore further with them after receiving the initially quote and design. - The sales person (Will) was polite, courteous, and not pushy at all for me to make a decision. He was very happy for me to take my time to consider. I was the one who chased him a bit with questions and clarifications.
Delivered as promised
Easy installation, good tradies, cleaned up the mess and very happy overall.
Only downside was the wait for installation from ordering (8 weeks) but understandable when dealing with a popular company.
good advice and service
Sales person seemed very honest, offering sound advice with several options. The installers were very efficient and a pleasure to deal with. At this stage it is only 1 week since install and we are very happy with the results

The panel installation was long and proficient with quality as the aim. I'm glad the team took the time to make sure every component was installed correctly. They answered my questions throughout the day and kept me informed of the process. My only improve would be a pre-installation inspection to ascertain the roof insulation. As this meant the power to our house was off for an extended period.
Process of two parts. Good then bad.
The initial process was fantastic. The customer service representative was attentive and answered my questions in a timely manner. Sadly for us, it was a 7 month delay for installation because of the lockdown in Victoria. I would recommend Solargain for all your solar power requirements. Their knowledge is very solid and helpful.

Poor service before and after sales
I only went with this company due to IKEA although they are 2K more expensive for similar systems. Overall i am really disappointed with the service provided. Firstly my installation was cancelled without any notification first time and delayed again 2nd time. The installer wired the smart meter incorrectly and its been 3 weeks and more than 10 phone calls with no action taken. Finally i have been sold a 9.9 KW system without advising me regarding the 5 KW export limit. Overall I dont see any value paying extra for this company when they don't have acceptable before and after sales service.

Installing the solar hot water panel went well Running the electric wire was a bit more awkward This because of type of roof and limited space to play with Not the sparkys fault This was worked out with out a problem Those tanks have a some of weight in them and there is a bit of work in dodging objects and eventually placing it in the desired position The finished results I cant knock Looks good Thanks Cheers This is the second unit we have had installed on this place The first was also from your company a couple of years ago If we had ...had problems with the first one I dont think we would have gone back Once bitten twice shy The price was good We did get a few quotes from other companies The service ,you would have to say friendly and competent They knew what they were doing Would I recommend this company to any one else ? Solargain having had installed several solar systems in the neighborhood we have experienced the same professionalism in advising us about and designing our system as well as the installation of it by a skilled team that was friendly, respectful and left the premises as clean as they found it.
Agree with other reviews re poor after sale follow-up
Be wary of using Solargain in the ACT due to their use of some pretty ordinary sub-contractors to do the installation. Solargain are very professional on the sales side of things...good advice, good price and good organisation of the job. Unfortunately the wheels start to come off after that. Installation was very sloppy, didn't clean up properly, no explanation of how everything worked (I had to ask) and Solargain didn't want to know me when I sent them a detailed email outlining my concerns. My neighour has just used Solarhub for his installation - much more professional in every way and I regret my choice of supplier for solar.

A good product
Can be installed within 3 hours on the existing Solar Hot water. Friendly technical service, show you how to operate the system including where the pipes input output water flows

I have commissioned a local tv antenna technician he repaired the problem. Fan still faulty
Good product but had a failure whilst away on holiday
Panel installation went well and has been performing well, however it had a failure No 452 on the inverter whilst we were away on holiday. On return I contacted Solargain and spoke to Evo Thompson the Liason Officer and she was able to sort the problem out over the phone, a great job done. Thank you Evo.
Multiple delays and a failure to meet the CEC code of conduct
My experience with Solargain was poor to say the least. This is a long review, but hopefully steps out the multiple failures of Solargain across the quote - install - post install process so you can avoid the same mistakes I made in choosing them for your system.
I requested a quote from Solargain on 09/09/19. Over the next couple of days via phone and email I asked for some simple amendments to the quote. Some of these were made, others (such as removing 1 panel from the quote) were not. I went back and forth about 4 times before being to...ld that the quote didn’t really matter as it could be amended after submission to the Solar Victoria portal. I finally asked the consultant to provide a copy of the quote to my specifications that could be accepted by myself and submitted to Solar Vic by solargain. This simply didn’t happen and the consultant stopped responding to my calls or emails. As a result, I missed the rebate window and my install was delayed. The CEC code of conduct states that ‘Approved retailers will provide you with the necessary information in writing to enable full education about your purchase prior to entering into a contract.’ I should have listened to my gut and avoided Solargain based on my initial interactions, but they had so many good reviews that I led myself to believe that things would get better - they didn’t. I tried again to get the correct quote uploaded by Solargain for the October rebate and again the consultant was unwilling to correct the quote to the system I’d actually asked for (13 panel Jinko, 5kw Growatt inverter - nothing complex!). Finally the consultant promised to correct the quote and submit it to the portal with two days to spare before the next rebate. Frustratingly he then failed to do so, and when I called to find out why I was advised that he’d gone on holiday. If I hadn’t followed up and chased a new consultant I would have missed that round of rebates as well.
No Fuss Installation
The process was excellent from start to finish. Sales people were prompt to reply to enquires before installation, however customer support afterwards was a little hard as you have to go through the customer service centre and not the actual electricians themselves.

I have just had a solar system installed and they put the wrong panels on my roof. They gave me 22 stp 300s suntech panels and we should have had 21 315 watt trina split cell panels. My question is should I get them to swap the panels to the correct panels or are the ones I have been given just as good and I leave them on the roof save messing about.

Some years ago Solar Gain put us in 6 panels and later a new hot water system. We were impressed with the service but would like some advice/quotes on possibly upgrading the current system we have. We live in Maida Vale

David, like you we installed six panels and a 1.2 kW inverter along with a solar hot water system with a gas booster. The solar panels was via solargain and after ten years our inverter failed. Our hot water tank started leaking so we had Solargain install 9 panels, a 2 kW inverter and an i store hot water system. So far we are very happy but it has only been installed for about five weeks. We are producing a lot more energy and lots of hot water.
