This model dethrones Bose as the king
I bought these headphones as an upgrade from the original MDR-1000X which I bought because I preferred the sound to the Bose QC35 headphones, but they weren't as comfortable. Now two generations later I think Sony has cracked it and is the best set of noise cancelling headphones around, perfect for long stints on panes.
These headphones have moved to USB C charging, like most modern phones, and you get a reported 30 hours battery life form it- which I haven't tested. If you're caught short though you can get 5hrs worth of charge from it in 10m...Read more
ins, so no problem as I carry a portable battery. They're also more comfortable to wear and have a better noise cancelling quality than my existing pair, so worth the upgrade. I have no hesitation in recommending these headphones, particularly for travelling on planes where you might need an extended battery life.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Setup from hell
My Bose MC35 was getting old and I decided to get the Sony after checking reviews. The good: sound quality is excellent, fit over ears is confortable BUT ; if you think setting it up (except for iPhone/iPads) should be easy, you are wrong. Controls are awkward to access, barely protruding from the lower rim, I need to hold the headset in my hand and then try to listen to messages. Instead a providing a simple tutorial how to pair and connect the headset, Sony opted for some awkward graphics, forcing you to search for the manual online which is ...Read more
of no use at all if you run into difficulties. While connections to iPad/iPhone went OK, I have now spent 3-4 hours to get it to connect to three different Windows 10 PCs without success, the closest I have come is pairing but on Connect, it drops almost immediately out. This is not my first experience with Sony devices, great quality but next to impossible to install when it doesn't get smoothly the first time. And being an experienced user does not help either, I have 30 years of it....Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Worth every cent
These things are absolutely unbelievable. The ability to instantly optimise the noise cancelling under varying conditions is second to none. We have a neighbour who plays VERY loud music every now and then and these completely nullify out his horrible tunes. The sound quality is faultless. Exceeded all expectations!

Best out there.
Bought these a year ago mainly for relaxation while listening to music...the noise cancelling is fantastic with great battery life and stylish looks.
Bit pricey at $499 but luckily I got them on sale which made a big difference

The noise cancelling is unreal
Bluetooth and App
Connecting them to my phone was easy as, all I had to do was turn them on and go into the sony app (has lots of features) to connect, and that was it! For those unaware, these headphones support LDAC which is sony's proprietary Bluetooth codec, supported on most new Android phones, otherwise, AptX or AptX HD (sorry Apple, you don't support any of these) and it had me a bit confused on how to set it up. Turns out all you have to do is go into settings and enable it manually (in my case at least). This will stream a higher quali...Read more

Could not be happier
These headphones work perfectly and are durable considering I use them daily.
The sound quality and noise canceling is top notch and the Bluetooth connectivity is very reliable.
Only could be easier to connect to a few more devices, but thats hard to complain about.

Wonderful NC Headphones
These headphones take the cake in the NC headphone catagory. Wonderful piece of device. They are better than the Bose in both NC and sound quality. The Sony app is also much better than Bose connect app. You can actually control base mids lows and highs which is a huge bonus. Great!

Amazing product
These headphones have amazing build quality. I wear them while on public transport or while walking. The sound quality is top notch with nice heavy bass (which you can modify using the app).
These have the standard bluetooth 'issues' where it can only be connected to one device at a time however if you manually try to connect to the headphones, it's easy to swap them around.

Great NC headphones, as long as you don't take calls with 'em
my first premium headphone. I was a bit apprehensive to spend so much on a headphone but now I am glad I did. The noise cancellation is pretty awesome and there is nothing to complain about the sound quality. I like my songs with extra bass and the headphone delivers on it. The build is pretty solid and feels premium.
But a couple of pet peeves...
1. Ears get warm with prolonged use
2. The voice guidance completely mutes the audio which can be very annoying when you are on a call and the headphone changes profile.
Edit: I was so awestruck wit...Read more
h these that I never bothered to check how these performed for phone calls and I was more than disappointed to see that it sucks. It sucks so bad that I don't use them for calls anymore. If taking calls is with these are a priority I would advise you to steer clear of these.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Poor manufacturing quality, they will only last 3 months and customer service is non existent
I would not ever recommend these to anyone, they are cheaply made with cheap pieces of plastic joining the band to the cups. I have seen all over the internet of this manufacturing defect, and they basically offered me to buy a new set for $320, invest your money in Bose its a lot safer.

Great
Suits everyone no matter what you wanna do. Love the touch functionality to change songs, update volume. And noise cancelling is just awesome. Cannot here anything from outside and just into my music.

Great noise cancelling wireless headphone!
Can't complain about this headphone. I use it at home when I'm relaxing and listening to my favorite songs. The noise cancelling feature is great. It completely blocks out other noise. The wireless range is pretty good and quick to charge. It's very comfy as well!

Great noise cancelling, only problem is...
Great pair of headphones with amazing sound, deep bass and world class noise cancelling. Top in class headphone. Few issues... Firstly it doesn't have capability to pair with 2 devices simultaneously which is a slight hassle when switching between devices. Secondly, I personally feel it gets quite warm after 45 mins of continuous use, depending on how sensitive you are to heat - may or may not be a deal breaker. Overall the best noise cancelling headphones in the market now hands down.

Great sound and very comfortable
Noise cancellation is great, even if you are not listening to music etc.
The only downsides is the headphones don't save your EQ settings from the app and you can only have 1 device paired to them over bluetooth, so it is a bit of a pain switching between PC and phone.

Great sound quality. But a bit too heavy for me.
Great sound. Great Bluetooth connection. No issue with the product. I'm just not very used to wear a relative heavy headset for a long time. I prefer the in-ear ones. Just personal choice.

Excellent Noise Cancellation
I purchased these after considering the Bose QCII and watching several YouTube reviews and determining these were the best in class. They are excellent! They sound great and isolate virtually all surrounding noise. I price matched Amazon's deal and purchased them at JB HIFI for $400 in February this year for a flight and to use during my uni semester. I have used them a lot more than expected! I mostly use them to listen to Audible, Spotify and YouTube, but movies and games sound great too. They have worked well on flights, in noisy rooms and e...Read more
ven while mowing the lawn. I highly recommend these headphones. The battery life is excellent and even with daily use, I only charge them every few weeks. My only frustration is the lack of dual Bluetooth connectivity. When I want to disconnect from my Mac and listen on my iPad, iPhone or PC, I must turn off the headphones, turn them back on and hold the connection button - a process that takes all of about 30 seconds but feels unnecessary when compared to more seamless initiatives from Apple's AirPods or even Bose's QC series. If this frustration is eliminated in the next model, I will consider upgrading, however I expect these headphones to otherwise last me quite some time.Similar opinion? Premium Sound and ANC
My first go with a Premium Headphone. Although I owned three headphones previously with three different brands, namely: Jabra, Beats, Sennheiser, these models weren't top of the line.
Hence, this critical review of my Sony WH1000XM3. After several years of waiting and searching for a new pair of headphone.
Sony’s WH1000XM3 offering made it so easy to be the king of ANC’s (Active Noise Cancelling) and it's sound.

Work, Play, Walk - Anywhere headphones
Bought a two sets of these, one for myself and one for my girlfriend, and we both love them. Sound quality is really good and the noise cancellation is probably the best on the market right now (as of time of writing the Bose 700 headphones are still unreleased, so we'll see how they stack up).
They are super light and very comfy. I use them for Xbox (gaming) which paired with a mod mic is the ultimate gaming set up, they last for 8 hours straight gaming and a convenient 15min charge give you an hour if need to be.
Travel flying, amazing black...Read more

Best NC headphones I’ve owned
I’ve never regretted this expensive purchase.
I collect quite a few headphones in a number of varieties but these are the ones that I use every single day.
Pros:
They sound excellent to me. I’m no audiophile but I know what I like. They have plenty of base without sounding boomy or muddy. The sound feels very neutral/true without overemphasising any range of tones.
They connect flawlessly and I’ve never had a dropout.
Battery life is just amazing.
The quick hear function is very convenient (activated by placing palm against right ear piece...Read more

After owning them for 2 days, I tried mine for the first time on a plane. I am getting static as the plane takes off, very annoying. Landing is OK. Should I take them back or is this normal? Thanks everyone, Mary.
