OK if you only want to use it wirelessly.
The sound quality, noise cancelling and comfort are all great. I find the charging cord and the audio cord (for times when you want to be plugged in) frustratingly short. Seriously...no one wants to sit that close to their device or computer. And when you need to charge it, the charging point needs to be <10cm from a surface that the headphones can sit on because the cord is so short. Whilst not not a tech issue with the device it is annoying enough that I won't purchase again.
Purchased in January 2020.

An excellent pair of headphones, *if* you're able to get a pair without manufacturing issues.
The Sony XM3 are a high quality pair of headphones. The sound quality of the headphones are excellent. I didn't find the bass to be unnaturally high, I thought the sound profile was quite balanced out of the box. You can of course make excellent tweaks with the Sony Headphones Connect App, which are superior to Bose's, just because of that built-in EQ functionality alone.
The active noise-cancelling technology in these cans is amazing. The ANC is able to effectively block out continuous noise in the environment (public transport, the drone of ...Read more
traffic, etc). It isn't so effective with human voices, but is able to muffle them out reasonably well so you can still hear your music without needing to turn it up to compensate. You can also choose to reintroduce various levels of ambient noise while ANC is on, so it's very customisable. I've found the headphones to be quite comfortable, but just up to about 2-3 hours. At this point I find the headband pressure on my head to be noticeable, so I will need to take a break. I haven't noticed any 'clamping' effect on my ears. Ears can become a bit sweaty though, as these are closed-back headphones. Not uncomfortable though, just a little warm. Connectivity is good with these headphones. Bluetooth works perfectly on my Android & Windows devices. You can't connect to more than 1 device like the Bose QC35 II's, though. Range is also decent, although I have experienced a couple of drop-outs on occasion. Unfortunately with these headphones, at this price point (RRP AUD$500+), I've personally found that there is quite a lot of manufacturing variance present. The first pair I bought had a balance issue, where the right earcup was about 10% louder than the left, consistently. After I returned them and received my new, current pair, I had a new problem. The left earcup started making a static, popping sound while powered on, intruding quite noticeably onto the listening experience. This should not be happening on a pair of headphones that retail for such a high price. For this reason, I've removed 2 stars. If you get a pair without any manufacturing problems, they are currently the best noise-cancelling headphones you can buy right now.Purchased in March 2019.

Does the job
- Don't expect any sound quality you would otherwise get from wired headphones
- Good for convenience
- User friendly app to help configure the headphone
- Not impressed with quality when calling or receiving
Purchased in December 2018 at The Good Guys for A$275.00.

Great noise cancelling and sound, poor bluetooth connection and controls
I have a pair of Bose QC35II as well, noise cancellation seems on par on both, you can feel the change of pressure with the QC35 which some people hate but not on the Sony which is great.
Happy with the sound, look at other reviews for more details.
Autonomy is good. Charges very quickly. Not a fan of the controls, I find clicky buttons way better and more intuitive. Works more reliably too, try it in shop before you buy those.
I found the bluetooth very unreliable in general, it cuts out regularly (with or without the quality vs connection setting in the app) which is awful. I also have to unpair and pair it again sometimes which I wouldn't mind, bluetooth is always a bit temperamental, but I never had to do this with my QC35.
Purchased in November 2018 at Noel Leeming for A$499.00.

Amazing product that is missing a basic feature
I Just bought a pair of wh1000xm3 headphones last week, and have been using them for over 30 hours now. I must say I am quite happy with the sound quality and also build quality. The noise cancelling feature works beautifully to cancel out airplane noise. I was just sitting at the back on an airplane, and could enjoy my audiobook/music in the quiet that the headphones created for me. Anyway, I am not going to say much about how amazing these headphones are as you can read them in other reviews.

ck of dual ADTP connectivity on these. You basically cannot connect 2 devices to the headphones for the same purpose, for example both for music. You can connect one device for calls and another device for audio, but not both at the same time. This particularly is a deal breaker for me as I switch in between my two phones a lot, which means I always have to disconnect one to be able to connect the other. Considering majority of newer headphones have this feature, it is quite surprising to see it missing from such expensive onesPurchased in March 2019 at JB Hi-Fi for A$399.00.

May be good but does not work on all of my devices, just some
I was expecting something better from Sony and seriously for the price, these headphones are not reliable. OUt of my 5 devices, I could only connect and run it on my laptop. When I connect to the All in one computer with a big screen that I wanted to use to watch content everything freezes and also takes time to connect. It is not a thing for everyone and does not work on all devices.

Awful phone call quality/ poor app.
Purchased Sony wh-1000xm3 headphones last weekend from jbhifi, so after a week of use here is my review.
Sound quality is excellent, noise cancelling is very good, build quality seems to be adequate so far, comfort is very good.
One glaring fault with these headphones is making phone calls, a function of the headphones that is important to me, every call I have made the other party says I sound like I'm in an echo chamber and background noise is way too much, to the point that they asked me to call back not using the headphones, also the ap...Read more

After owning them for 2 days, I tried mine for the first time on a plane. I am getting static as the plane takes off, very annoying. Landing is OK. Should I take them back or is this normal? Thanks everyone, Mary.
