Moved on from a different android smartphone brand, and very pleased with the result. Good design and screen size, camera works well and not so much bloatware as before. Apprehensive that the battery cannot be changed but alternatives proved the same anyway. Apps are straightforward, interface is friendly and transferring information was simple. Great to use with other Sony products too.
It's a perfect phone!!!
It's a perfect phone to use with great Camera and battery life. It's was challenging to think out of box where everyone is after Apple or Samsung but it's worth buying this Android phone. The processor speed is also fast and no slowness detected ever. Internet/WiFi connectivity is also super quick.

Good Budget Phone
I just started using this phone, and so far so good. Really like its sleek design, and I think price is quite good considering its brand and functionality. This might be the only phone that has NFC capabilities in this price range. It does however take a long time to start up, not sure why. Really enjoying using this new phone!

I bought a z3 compact in early 2015 and was so happy with it. It was with me through thick and thin. I dropped and throw that one so many times I can't remember. Accidentally dropped 2 months ago on a hard stone surface, the phone still worked but the screen was broken and lost the touch feature so I decided to upgrade to the XZ because it is more costly to replace the screen and the phone was old already. So I was heading straight to the Sony XZ
_Physical form: Luxury, bold and boxy look which I like. It is strong and concrete design when h...olding in my hand. I'm glad this one is fully made of metal so it is more durable and look better than the Z3 Compact. Buttons, cameras are in the right places. The size is good to hold and work since my hands are quite small. Small enough to fit in my jeans pocket. Water resistance: tested. Drop this phone quite a few time, no scratch, no problem. Unless you are trying to break it, normal real-life situations cannot kill this phone, for example: stuck in the rain or drop in the bathtub a few minutes. _Screen: made from super tough Gorilla glass screen. Full HD, very vibrant and sensitive to touch. 4k is not necessary for mobile phones. _Camera: both front and back work perfectly and quickly. Photos are vibrant and beautiful. _Fingerprint sensor: save so much time and reduce hassles. _Battery: Last a long time and charge quickly. _Apps: all app works just fine, never crash. _Connection: no problem noticed. _Speaker: works better than phones in the same range of other brands
The phone is using far less battery than previous models, photos are much sharper. Engine is much faster and the apps are not legging. Internet/WIFI connection is superb. Need to be aware that all previous chargers for Sony Xperia will not work on this product, you must buy a new charger. Very happy with the product
Xperia XZ no good in hot weather.
I purchased a new Sony Xperia XZ through Telstra earlier in 2017 (April). My first thoughts on the phone were great as the build quality and design were very appealing. BUT that change quite quickly. When out in the bush looking at wildlife and swimming holes I go to take some photos only to find the camera on the phone won’t work because it is to hot? Now I live in the NT, so this is not good. Back in the 4WD where the air conditioning is the camera works fine?? So my advise is if you live in the NT or anywhere in far northern Australia do not...buy a XZ. Other issues to complain about are very poor battery life, device reception very poor unless your near a tower and the volume of the phone is pathetic. If your not near the phone you can not hear it ring.
I have had this phone for about 6 months and their is a problem always with something. The phone would randomly crash non stop and just recently the phone messages would freeze up and close down. The lock screen would freeze from time to time, it's just annoying phone and very disappointed with the Sony phone after such high hopes.
Definitely not going to be getting another Sony phone any time soon.
I have had my Sony Xperia XZ about 3 months and absolutely Love it, was actually looking at the Z5 Premium but then saw the XZ Premium but that was out of my price range so went with XZ. The XZ made the Z5 Premium look out-dated and old with rounded edges. Wow! What a phone Sony XZ is, outstanding quality and performance, the camera pixel is Wow factor. Classy and stylish, be an individual and don't follow the sheep with Apple. Because your friend has an Apple does not mean anything, try it for yourself. But honestly some people don't like Andr...oid platform but I personally cant understand why its brilliant. Personal choice on that but Sony has done outstanding job on XZ I cant fathom the negative feedback on it. Once again its a personal choice, but don't follow sheep as I said, be an individual and stay classy. If you can afford it the Premium is Wow factor but is a little on the large size for say putting in your pocket. One more thing buy the clear touch style cover, Wow it saved it for me as I had my phone knocked out of my hand on the road and not a scratch and it is brilliant to have a quick glance and keep smudgy finger prints off the screen. Sony is switched on.
Perfection in a phone.
I got the premium version with 4k HDR screen.
Octacore procesor and 4gb of ram makes everyday activities effortless.
The premium ceramic finish is a joy to hold inthe hand but the large chin and forehead on the top and bottom of the screen may not be for everyone, this is a small price to pay for powerful front-firing stereo speakers.

Died after 4 months - Phones Behaving Badly
When my iPhone reached the end of it's useful life after many years, I was convinced by many to move away from Apple and try a different world. After much research I was left to choose between Samsung or the Sony Xperia, and decided on the latter.
Setting up the Sony Xperia wasn't too bad (I am not very good with technology) but I still needed to rely on friends quite a bit. It then served me ok until it started with Phones Behaving Badly after 3 months.
1. First of all, ALL the Xperia sounds (ringtones and notifications) disappeared, s...

Very good phone
I got this for my wife after she broke her Sony Z3 twice.. The build quality of this phone is much better then the Z3 or Z3 compact. just a much nicer screen and the rounded edges feel great in hand. Would recommend shopping around for the best price as we where able to get it online for 350 cheaper then anywhere else. Camera is also very good like most sony phones
this is best phone
sony xz series .. i like them so much .amazing phone
made from good material and the OS also good.
camera is the best. with that camera button..wow..
previously ..I am samsung user. after that I try huawei.
seriously.. Sony is the best . why ?
try the sound media and pictures
Ok but not great
This device is ok. While it is easy to use the operating system is not as easy to navigate as other late model Android devices. The SD & SIM card slots seem flimsy and may be easily broken. This was a losing model when we tested several to roll out to our fleet of 150 devices.
Great performance, amazing battery life!
The battery life on this phone is really great. I sometimes get up to six hours of screen on time when using it. The display is the best quality LCD I have seen on a mobile phone, it can get really bright which is good for sunny occasions. The rear camera is good, especially in good lighting. The front camera is really good too. The fingerprint scanner is built into the power button which is really handy. Its performance has improved over time and only fails to read my fingerprint if my finger is wet or not clean.
The performance of the devi...ce is great, it has never showed signs of lag or slowing down, and has never gotten excessively hot from extensive use. Going by previous Sony Xperia devices I believe that this phone will always have great performance which will improve through software updates. Software updates occur roughly each month to keep the device up to date with the latest Android security patches. My only issue with the phone is that the edges of the glass screen are curved (like the iPhone 6 and newer, Samsung Galaxy S7 and newer, as well as other phones). Due to this I have been unable to find a tempered glass screen protector which properly adheres to the screen. This means that small bits of dust get under the screen protector over time. The only solution as far as I know is to use a plastic screen protector or to get a tempered glass screen protector which does not go over the curved edges of the screen.
XZ What an awesome phone.
I am on my second Xperia phone in four years. They are unstoppable. I love the layout and the UX is near perfect. Not one major issue in four years, I recommend this device to anyone looking for a break from the planned obsolescence from Samsung and Apple. I will be an Xperia fan for a long time to come I think.
Was pretty doubtful when I was purchasing the phone cause it's an android. There was quite a bit of lag after 4 months of use. Camera is pretty good but interms of the design of the phone I cant say the same. Standard battery life, nothing amazing there. Reluctant to reccomend the product.
A great upgrade from my Sony Xperia Z3
Fantastic phone with all the advantages of an Android phone wrapped up with a great camera. I use mine for work and personal calls and couldn't be happier. Great when you are travelling in terms of the camera that you can can upload to your icloud account.
The finger print sensor has also made it more convenient.
Having a much older version, the Xperia Z1, I am so happy with the newer, improved XZ. Has awesome features on it like: double tapping the screen to activate it, finger print sensor and being integrated with chrome cast are just some. Found that it has better speakers and importantly, a better camera - both back and front. The only thing that bugs me sometimes and if anything would be the when video recording that it slightly zooms in. Other than that, really happy with my purchase and happy that i stuck with Sony.
Sony has done it again
Coming from a Sony Z3, I was hoping they'd improved on the Z3 - and they have.
The new phone is again water resistant/proof (IP68) although I haven't tried it myself.
It is a bit zippier than the Z3 no surprise and has also been upgraded to Android v7.
The XZ comes with a 5.2" glass screen, finger print scanner/security which is a pleasure to use,
32GB storage, 3GB RAM memory, 23MP rear camera, 3MP front,
Quad core Qalcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU and many more new features.
One I wasn't aware of until I got mine was it uses USB 'C' connector...
Questions & Answers
Would you say you're happy with the music volume (max)? I remember Z3 was a bit soft at max volume.
