Very easy to understand Product DIsclosure Statement (PDS) and to get a quote online. Great price also. Southern Cross covers you and your family where some other well advertised companies do not. Make sure you compare the exclusion details with others PDS. Used other companies in past and compared but found Southern Cross best.
Lots of advice and offers of assistance
This is my third time using Southern Cross Travel Insurance. I've thus far not had to make a claim, but consistently receive advice on how to claim if necessary, offers of assistance with the claim process if required, and contact details if I happen to get into difficulties while overseas. I have always felt secure and will continue to use them for future travel

Easy to deal with when making claim
Ten days prior to departure, my husband and I had to cancel our 9 week trip to Europe due to me breaking my hip. The trip included pre-paid river cruise, european trains, international and domestic airlines, plus accommodation. We notified SCTI early in the piece and they flagged our case. It took approximately 2 months for us to organise all our statements and receipts which we then scanned and emailed to SCTI. Much to our delight, there was a no-hassle full refund of all trip costings and the correspondence from start to finish was friendly, well communicated and prompt.
Due to two family bereavements we were unable to travel to our annual holiday aboard our narrowboat in the UK in 2019. SCTI was exemplary in the fact that they covered our mooring fees which we would not have incurred if we had been able to complete our trip. We have used SCTI for the last three years and will continue to use them for the foreseeable future and have recommended them to friends and family and will continue to do so.
Never needed to claim
I've used SCTI several times for simple trips where I'm not planning to do any particularly adventurous activities, as it's very cheap and easy to buy online, but as I've never needed to claim it's hard to give a complete review. I don't think you can tell how good insurance really is until you have to claim.
I read the PDS quite thoroughly and was intrigued by the clause that says there is no cover for undiagnosed pre-existing medical conditions (unless you die!), which could be a problem if you fell ill whilst on holiday and it turned out to ...
A very professional service
SCTI is an excellent value comprehensive travel insurance (including cover for a hire car which we have found very useful).
We have used SCTI a number of times.
Early in 2019 I had an accident on a holiday in Ireland and broke my ankle. The advice and assistance they gave while I was away, the service they offered in bringing me home and then covering my claim in quick time was truly amazing. After I lodged the claim it took under 2 weeks to fully pay out my claim. A really remarkable service.
I am happy to recommend SCTI for anyone travelling abroad.

Excellent travel insurance company
Have always used Southern Cross Travel Insurance and haven't had to make a claim until my last overseas trip to Japan where we were delayed due to a typhoon. I initially relied on reviews when deciding which insurance company to go for, so thought I should contribute here.

I chose SCTI after looking into about 12 other companies recommended by CHOICE because they were the only company that customers who had had to make claims wrote positive reviews about. It was also a good value policy with good coverage of the elements I wanted. At the very beginning, when I had to ring up to organise the insurance, the man was helpful and respectful and didn't treat me like an old idiot. Having travelled overseas many times without incident I wasn't expecting to make a claim but then unfortunately my camera was either lost or ...stolen towards the end of the holiday. I decided not to do anything about it till I returned home. I was pleasantly surprised by the follow up email I received a few days after arriving home and that prompted me to make the claim. The claim was handled quickly (less than 2 weeks) and the compensation was fair. I am very impressed with SCTI and have already recommended them to friends and family. I will definitely use SCTI next time.

Great travel insurance
Policy easy to set up on line. Heard about SCTI via a friend. They were about the best priced Travel cover on offer. Appreciated the follow up before I left home plus the follow up on return , other insurers generally just take your money and you never hear another word. Will use SCTI again.
