We have used SCTI before but have never made a claim. This time we made 2 claims and both were assessed quickly and fairly and money deposited in our account.
We will definitely insure with them again.
No insurance fuss or issues!
SCTI is competitively priced & no fuss with all several previous policies. Have no claims, but airports have rough baggage handling practices resulting in some unfortunate baggage damage! We are satisfied with choosing SCTI in our future travel plans.
Never needed to claim
I've used SCTI several times for simple trips where I'm not planning to do any particularly adventurous activities, as it's very cheap and easy to buy online, but as I've never needed to claim it's hard to give a complete review. I don't think you can tell how good insurance really is until you have to claim.
I read the PDS quite thoroughly and was intrigued by the clause that says there is no cover for undiagnosed pre-existing medical conditions (unless you die!), which could be a problem if you fell ill whilst on holiday and it turned out to ...

It was the first time I have used the SCTI and in the future I will use SCTI again.
Good value and I really appreciate the follow up before and after the trip as well.
I have never experienced anything like this from another insurance companies.
I can online rate SCTI 4out of 5 because while my policy was easy to arrange and was good value, fortunately I have not had to claim in any of the five or six times we have used SCTI.
I have the feeling however from the tone of dealings with SCTI that they would be there should the occasion arise. We have already taken out our next cruise cover with them.
Easy to understand during purchase of policy. Fortunately all went well ,so no need to claim anything this time, although I have previously and it was a positive outcome for us.
This is the first time I used Southern cross insurance. I had pre-existing medical conditions, so the price went from the usual $180.00 to $490.00. I did not need to claim, so can only review the setting up, which was very easy and straightforward. I think I will use Southern cross insurance again.
Regrettably I had to cancel
Unfortunately, I had to cancel my trip. I developed a back problem (vertebrae bulging and trapping the sciatic nerve) in the lead up, and got to the point where I had to make the decision, and to get a letter from my Doctor, stating that I was unfit to travel - I was in absolute agony!
So - I didn't get to visit my (only) daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for family gatherings as planned.
Fortunately, hotel bookings I had made for stopovers etc, were made at the 'cancel without penalty' rate; Qantas refunded FF points used, and mo...
Never had to claim but...
Second trip with them - never had to make a claim but they appear to make it so easy if we had to. Definitely feel they on my side when we travel. The whole process and competitive price means I will use them again.
Straightforward & affordable travel insurance
Have just returned from overseas trip & was fortunate to not have reason to claim on my insurance. Have purchased Southern Cross travel insurance. 3 times now. As I have pre- existing conditions I do have to pay extra premium but I feel the cost is reasonable. Applying online is easy & if you have any problems you can always phone them. Would buy again.
Easy to use and very thorough
We have just returned. No need for a claim. But the Pre and Post departure contacts were useful. Policy was easy to set up even with a pre existing condition
Won't travel without SCT cover
We have used SCT a number of times and thankfully we have not had cause to claim, however we are happy with the price quoted and yes we would use SCT when next we travel overseas. Many thanks.
Pre existing conditions cover
I have used SCT twice. Primarily because they are the only insurance company prepared to cover me for my pre existing health condition. The on line health questionnaire is easy to use and the associated increase in premium is promptly displayed.
Would use again. Prompt and reasonable settlement, flexible if claim is not fitting the standard templates/procedures.
Flexible and prompt settlement of a lost item claim. First time user. Returned from overseas with lost iphone and airpods. On the downside, claiming is solely online, and you don’t get sent a copy of the data/info sheet you submit, so in the event of a dispute there is no copy for you. You then send confirmatory paperwork by mail - receipts, reports etc. 4 stars because of the online only issues.. Being able to start a claim by phone would be a nice option (elderly, technophobes, no internet access etc.) Would use again.
Great Insurance cover for piece of mind.
Great that they cover a wide variety of things. This was only one of two that covered what I needed to cover and this insurance company was less expensive than the other company. It was great to know that insurance cover was there to use if needed.

Fortunately we did not have to claim so unable to comment on that side. However, we were pleased to be able to get a policy for a pre-existing health issue and at a competitive price. Many other travel insurance policies wanted to exclude this from their policies. Interesting that if we lived in the UK we would have access to many policies who do not seem to consider diverticulitis as big a deal as Australian travel insurers. Well done to SCTI.

I am having a similar problem with a different company (I want to apply for insurance but their site is crashing). Obviously they are being hit by people panicking.
As you can already see they don’t now reply in this Review site but I did notice they have website updates. Suggest you check for alternate contact.
