Internet Service isn't as good as it was & Customer Service hard to access
I have ADSL & have been with Southern Phone for approx 6 years & was happy until around 18 months ago.
The initial set up was easy as Southern were quite quick to answer calls & offer assistance in setting up the modem etc but now you need to have a few hours up your sleeve to even consider phoning them which is a real shame.
Over the past 12 months there have been frequent times (lasting from an hour to a couple of weeks) where the service has really slowed. At one stage it was taking around 3-4 minutes to open a single page. That lasted...a few weeks & luckily has improved since. My service often drops out completely. The timing is usually only 15 mins or less & then service returns but it is annoying. It is difficult to contact Southern for assistance due to their phone lines being poorly manned & they have also reduced the time for getting assistance. I recently tried at around 7pm but was cut off on the phone after being advised to phone back in business hours from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

I just want what I'm paying for no more no less.I don't want to listen to static for an endless time while
Waiting to talk to a service person who is too busy to help.I would just like the line tech to fix the line in the big hole that's full of water at the corner of my street if its not too
much to ask.
Credit when it's due.... after a fashion
Endless teething problems to begin with, was unable to contact helpline (which BTW is a 1300 number Which They bill you for) would wait for 40 minutes speak to an operator who would flick pass me to a Technician but not before waiting another 40 or so minutes. The problem would be resolved, sometimes for an hour or Two! then back on the treadmill. I contacted the Ombudsman (a Lady) eventually after seven days during which time I had no phone or internet. I was contacted by a "lovely" Southerphone employee who berated me for not contacting them...??? and told me "I couldn't get out of the contract" I told him I was sure I could as Southernphone had never delivered the product outlined in the contract. Long story short no problems, no drop outs. "The squeaky wheel gets the oil" However on the other hand life's too short.... The service has worked flawlessly for the past 3 or so weeks. Go figure??
Long Queue Lines, Great Staff!!
My internet has been constantly dropping out. So I decided to contact southern phone to figure out this problem. There was an engaged tone a fair few times. (Apparently due to an influx of calls). I was extremely unsatisfied as this is a service I pay my hard earned money for. After speaking with customer service, I was put through to a tech support, Nathan was his name. He was very helpful. He sorted out my issues and I haven't had too much internet trouble since. Although the internet service wasn't that great. I understand this is still a growing company, but from my experience with this staff member. I am keen to push forward with southern phone. Not the best internet. Great customer service.
Have had several dropouts with the last one over the weekend . Unable to get service when needed out of hours.
