My Amaysim account was sold to AGL (Trading as Southern Phone)
Customer service was PATHETIC 1 star Rating is too High.
Terrible speeds, regular drop outs, tech support non existent.
Drop Outs and Poor Speeds reported across many communications email, Phone calls and Live Chat with Nil Follow up, care or resolution.
50% Speed deemed acceptable So Pay for up to 12mbps but they measured a Max of 6mbps and that was deemed to be meeting the required speed?? No further investigation and no Resolution.

Internet unreliable for distance education.
Often doesn't work at all for many hours when I am meant to be watching lectures online. Pretty sad and demotivating. No idea if it will ever work reliably. Also my billing was always by direct debit set and forget. Then without me knowing they randomly stopped the direct debit making it accrue to a few months before I realised and they never notified me. There was no reason. This caused me some financial problem suddenly. Still after all of It the internet is very unreliable and the outages are disrupting my study a lot.
Awful connection cuts out every 10 minutes
Internet keeps cutting out every 10 mins and has been for the past 3 months completely useless dont use this company have had troubles since I have changed over had no problems prior
Worst company ever
Extremely poor and unreliable internet service. We complained multiple times and things did not improve.
When we tried to leave the customer service people tried to gaslight us. They have continuously lied to us. Customer service are extremely unhelpful. I was told it was my fault our internet was unreliable because we chose the basic plan.
We keep getting bills even after they have agreed to stop billing us.
Save yourself the headache and go with a decent company.
Can't live without it
No problems with drop outs and able to pick up speed at night.
No issues and happy too be with Southern Phones and your Optus nextwork is reliable and safe.

Fraudulently ripping off Senior Citizens!! 6 mths and still cannot rectify overcharged bill.. Stay away!!
Southern Phone is fraudulently ripping off senior citizens!! My aging father has endured months and months of being charged for two accounts when he switched over to NBN... we have had months of calling help line (with usually a 40 min wait) to sort out merging of bills and now instead of crediting the paid account to the unpaid account they did the opposite and charged him again (bill is thus our times what it should be). Rudest customer service girl outlined when I said that I have emailed four times that they a) don't answer emails and whe...n I asked to have a call back to confirm the correct amount she outlined they b) do not call customers back. When I outlined it was terrible customer service and when would I get the correct bill she outlined I can close my account and that will ensure I will get it in 48hrs... I am now forced to go to Legal Aid to attempt to get this rectified, I shall also be going to all Media outlets and A Current Affair. This has been going on since April and now in November is still not rectified... stay away from Southern Phone Broadband!!!
Keeps charging after service termination notified, late payment fee
I wrote and called Southern Phone to terminate all my service 2 weeks before the end of paid to period, however i was sent another bill for the next month so it seems they have completely ignored my termination request and wants to keep on charging. Not only that but i was charged late payment fee for the past 2 months, my payments were being made via direct debit, so no reason for charging them.
My phone line stopped working for 6 months but yet Southern Phone continues to charge me for line rental for the next 12 months. The are not refundin...
Late charge fee on direct debit.
I was charged a late payment fee for my July 2020 account. I pay by direct debit, so I fail to see how I could have been late. I have made two calls to Southern Phone and each time informed that the account had been rectified. My bank account shows differently. Phoned again 25/10/2020 and after spending 15 minutes waiting, was informed that a credit had been applied. She didn't inform me that another late payment fee had been raised on my October 2020 account for different invoice. Since I started this diatribe, I have again been on their w...ebsite and noted that the invoice numbers on their system do not correlate with the numbers on my printed out invoices. Their systems are in a mess. For information purposes my account was transferred from My Net Phone when they decided to no longer provide phone services.

Terrible customer service and tech help they need more in depth training
I have had months and months of terrible lack of service and know how, continual landline fails and internet fails have spoken to probably eight so called technical staff of nearly a year of putting up with this I kept asking then for anew modem but none would send one to me until finally a week ago I found the only one a lovely lady who promised me should would not leave me until the replacement different modem was sent was set up and working for me, this she did and now I have no problems at all. I have been with SP since it began and a loyal...customer but sorry to say the last year or too service and taking 45 minutes to get through is the pits. I feel you have grown to big and not enough staff and staff who know what they are doing and although are pleasant to talk dont care and cant cope Ann

They are morons and couldn't give a damn there nbn connection is crap l have charged to another supplier and not a problem still trying to get the money back they took out of my account when l didn't have a connection with them. STAY CLEAR

Southern phones actually bought out the company that I had my NBN plan with. Every time I call it takes a ridiculous amount of time, so I tried live chat today....I was 38th in queue! Last time that I called (and was on hold for over 20 minutes) was because all of a sudden after years my Direct debit details had vanished and my payment was overdue! At that time I asked for a plan change.... never happened. I'll be looking for a new provider.
I'm not usually a person who writes reviews, but these guys are really, really bad. Seriously wasted so much of my time already that they probably should be paying me for the use of their shoddy service. Shame on you all who work there. Shame
Don't use southern phones
The internet service was great before it got sold to southern phones, it drops out constantly, slows down to a unusable speed during peak hour , these people should not be allowed to operate a business in Australia
Avoid Like the Plague
Echo what many of the other reviewers have said here. These guys are horrible to deal with and the customer service is dismally slow.
I was recommended these guys when transferring from connect now but it's been an absolute joke and headache to deal with.
I set up the transfer over three weeks ago just before my move and waited over two weeks for any update from them on an appointment time.
When I finally got a text message to update them about my NTD box I was left waiting over forty minutes to speak to someone who wasn't able to help me a...nyway because I "wasn't in the system". He said he would follow up on my case. Of course no one got back to me and I called back the service line several more times over the days that followed waiting excessive periods on the call line and kept getting hung up on when put on hold why they called their "NBN department". Today I waited on two occasions for over an HOUR on the service line. The first time it actually hung up on me after about an hour(!). The second one which I'm waiting on as I write this (1 hr 14 minutes and counting) and I've decided I don't even want to progress with this company. After reading some of the reviews here I don't trust that they can offer a good service or adequate installation. Was almost too exhausted to bother writing this but it's been one of the worst experiences I've had with a company in a long time and I would warn others, go with another provider if you want to avoid this show.
It is more than I can handle
I have had very little failure of my dropouts. Cant think how long it has been since I have had one apart from last night (4August2020) when we got hit by a sudden and totally unexpected snowstorm. This has not ever happened in my 25yrs living here, I had two dropouts but I fixed it myself.
Terrible Customer Service
Cannot overstate how terrible this company is to deal with.
They failed to resolve any issues that I had with my regular dropouts and lack of connection via my workplaces VPN.
Even after disconnecting my service they continued to bill me and it took ~3 hours of my own time (spread among four separate contacts initiated by myself) to organise a proper refund.
Never received call backs from technicians when promised.
Never received call backs from 'supervisors' when promised.
The low price is absolutely not worth the hassle of dealing with such a terrible ISP.
Please do yourself a favour and sign up with another company.

Great service, good price
Very good service and responsive support team. I only cancelled as I was moving somewhere where internet was provided, otherwise I'd be a long-term customer! A few small glitches in set-up but they handled it professionally and very quickly.

Generally a good solid reliable service for people needing a business, research, and social connection.
Generally a good solid reliable service for people needing a business, research, and social connection. Yet, there must be a criticism of the NBN carrier. There are fundamental problems with the NBN roll-out as pruned by the LibNat governments to a mix of old and decaying copper with fibre-optic. In our village (Callala Bay) the carrying capacity fails quite frequently at peak times. There are too many users, likely downloading major graphic files, movies, and interactive games. The NBN capacity is not adequate for the peak hours of such use, ...especially when holiday houses, tourist accommodation, and children on school holidays are added to the user mix. Apart from such times, we find the service level fine for our low-bulk uses of the internet, and the personal service support is always exemplary.
Didn’t even get round to connecting
If you want to wait around for days for southern phone then waste your time with them. You’ll be sent to many operators for no simple answer. If you need internet for your work or waiting for a connection to do an important job..then Southern phones will make sure that doesn’t happen. -5 stars

Southern phone is GREAT!!!!!!!! i had no internet problems until the NBN arrived Since then i have had LOTS of problems and they have ALL been caused by the NBN. And they all been fixed by Southern Phone I have SPC accounts at two premises and at the first one to get the NBN I lost my home phone number for several months. It turned out that the NBN box I received was meant for someone else, SPC determined this on my first call to them but it was months before the NBN fixed thd problem. as for nbn12 nbn50 or nbn100 i have no idea i don't know which i have

Hi, is the internet nbn still down. I've had no wifi or internet since the power went down 31st dec. Hope I'm going to being reimbursed and I cant keep sitting on phone waiting for someone to answer.
